Having taken my usual Sunday evening position of rest, I received notification of a new Sharpe clip. I immediately proceeded to watch and reach for my scribe. That's my style, Sir.
After watching this marvelous clip I scrolled down and glanced your comment. I immediately began the task of making this comment.Thats my style, sir.
watching sharpe clips on a Sunday, that's soldiering
Thats Not soldering simmerson
Your hard disk answered with his life, sir!!
Major Algorithm reports a number of losses, Sir Henry.
He says you first lost your head, and instead of viewing the video, you scrolled past it.
He says you then lost your nerve, and ran from a small anti-adblocker pop-up.
He says you lost ten Views, an Impression and two Conversions.
He says you finally lost your sense of honour and cleared cookies, cutting off a cross-site tracking party led by Lieutenant Sharpe.
Major Algorithm leaves the worst to the last… He says you lost the King's Subscribers.
My favorite part of this is watching Hogan and Wellsley's twisty minds work around the problems of a hostile bureaucracy. Although it's also highly amusing to see Simmerson so completely oblivious to Hogan's sarcasm at his expense. The fool is so used to being kissed up to that he can't even detect that Hogan is obviously roasting him.
Hogan's small private pleasure. doesn't require an audience.
The in unison “Simmerson” as the lost ‘gallant officer’ 😂
I admit that it had me chuckling 😂
"Duty calls.... Horse let's go and have a wash" just perfect
Quite funny that Hogan is reading Caesar and speaks about Mark Anthony and then has this plotting conversation with Wellington - when they both look a bit like Caesar and Mark Anthony would later on in the HBO series "Rome". Always loved the banter between these two
There's the Newscaster Guy who's Wagonmaster General Runciman.
Marcus Antonius as Captain Spiers.
@@TheAzureNightmareMark Anthony in HBO's Rome was played by James Purefoy
@@mattybeattie4115 Indeed. James Purefoy was Captain Spiers in Sharpe's Sword.
“I hope you will convey my respects to (your cousin) at the conclusion of our mission”. Hogan has all the best lines
This is a rank and file comment section
"Common Jeramiah, let's go have a wash"
@@denislemieux4915 Common?? That horse is quite extraordinary, Sir.
Watching a Sharpe video on 'what it takes to be a soldier'... That's soldiering!
"I must say, that uniform does you credit Mr. Gibbons." God I forgot about that shot. Major Hogan's the best marksman in the show, not with a musket or rifle, but with his wit.
"A fine body of men, sir. ... - soon to be fine bodies of men."
I remember this beeing a Blackadder quote.
@@olivergrimm8412
Indeed, it is!
A very distinguished way of saying "You're breaking your own men apart."
The best prosthetic nose in the business!
At the very least the biggest
Now that's costuming
A nose that lets you look down at anyone, including those you look up to.
(Oh, that is going into a book)
He would have done well in the Roman times. Having an 'eagle's beak' was considered the stuff of nobility and leadership.
"Coffe house fops" sounds like such a savage insult!
Or a very effeminate Rock Band
Yuppies, in today's terminology
more than 200 years removed and I still know exactly who he is talking about 😂
A man who loses the opportunity of the first comment, loses the kings friendship
Hogan's sarcasm and his accent is brilliant
Unbeknownst to Lord Wellesley, it was not Simmerson who was sent to spy on him; but rather James Bond (Though he was a lieutenant at time and had not yet become a commander in the Royal Navy).
Waiting patiently on a Sunday night for a new Sharpe clip to be uploaded, that's my style sir!
Few shows fill me with such unbridled joy, regardless of how many repeat views.
Planning an idiotic officer’s downfall, whilst allowing a promising officer to rise?
That’s conspiring.
The chemistry between soon-to-be Lord Wellington and Major Hogan is a sight to behold. Beautiful °
Yeah shame the guy that plays hogan left
lol. “Duty calls”. Proceeds to go bathe his horse.
That made me laugh the most. Sorry Simmerson I have more important business, I need to wash my horses ass
@@blairpenny1526 exactly!
lol I always interpreted it as Hogan slyly gibbing that he feels dirty just standing next to Simmerson
Brilliant TV show.
This Wellington is the best ever (in my humble opinion)....
this series is a great lesson - even Wellington and Hogan who like Sharpe have no problem using him even if it means death to advance their cause . can't really trust anyone
Sir Arthur openly stated that his promoting Sharpe was a "damned bad" turn.
Sharpe knows that he's a tool to be used until he's not useful anymore.
You trust them to do their jobs and they should trust that you will do everything in your power to stay alive.
There’s a great scene in Rifles where Harper describes the two types of officers. Hogan (and Sir Arthur too) is indeed a skilled murdering officer.
@@CarvaxIV It's a great scene, but I believe there's more types. Or, perhaps, killing and murdering are categories the real types fall into.
Having what it takes to be a soldier? Now that's Soldiering!
This scene is why He’s so angry when he’s yelling at Simmerson. He and Hogan meant for Simmerson to be the officer he was meant to loose. Instead….he lost Major Lennox. He doomed a good man, friend, and officer
And Lennox was a friend of his.
And worse still, Simmerson tried to make Lennox the scapegoat for his own incompetence.
5:03 My husband a veteran soldier hates officers with no impunity towards common soldiers. I can see why the men under his command respect him he risen through the ranks and the men still serve him in his private security company.
Good officers inspire their men not tormented them
love this series.
3:02 Dobbs is really regretting his life choices.
Sean Bean is the PERFECT actor to portray Sharpe!
"Come on, Jeremiah. Let's go and have a wash."
Let’s go and have a wash…. The easiest backhanded slap in the face ever.
Ah, Sir Arthur. Just look at the man on that nose.
Your glasses wouldn't slip down easily.
Sharpe! does it get any better !!!
one of the best shows that I have watched, including hornblower
When the slaver is the humane guy in your outfit I think you might have a problem.
🥱 You’re American, aren’t you?
@@nancyblackett8777 no, georgia.
@@johnsmith-de3tl this is a great answer, lmao
@@nancyblackett8777 I'm curious: how have you figured that to be a bad thing this time?
Leroy was one of the more interesting one off characters. It might have been interesting to see more of him, but I suppose OTOH there weren't' enough notes to him for another appearance.
I think that we can all concur that Sharpe was made to be Lord Wellington's torpedo. Quite so!
Hogan is fantastically cunning.
Love the backhanded insult at the end. Hogan basically tells Simmerson that’d he’d rather wash his horse than socialize with him.
Not much mention of the number of rounds fired per minute in this clip. That's not bloody soldiering!
That Nose though
Ole Nosey!
A poor imitation of Wellington's
I've looked for "Sharpe" on DVD...but nothing listed for American DVD format.
I might just have to buy a DVD player from Amazon UK.
Sharpe' is an excellent series.
Most dvd players should have instructions online for how to unlock the region so it will play media from all 4 regions instead of being locked to one region. I live in Australia and unlocked mine so I could watch Arrested Development and Nero Wolfe that I bought from US Amazon way back in the day
Its on Acorn TV or Britbox. My mom has seen some at my suggestion.
I watched the whole series on my computer back when Netflix was still strictly DVDs thru the mail. I was available in that format, but not thru streaming.
"Wit, War and Whisky" ... plus 'Winnowing' it would seem, if it can be arranged.
Plotting to get one of your own commanders killed for being useless, whilst getting rid of a bridge, "that's Fieldmarshalling"
Where can I watch full episodes of Sharpe?
Never let your general know you by name.
PUBLİSH FULL EPİSODES ALREADY!
Hogan: A victory sir, small but solid.
Simmerson: Having received my mission, I went about turning a small but solid victory into an embarrassment to the nation while ensuring men better than my died for it, that's my style sir.
check out the beak on the big guy!

that Lt.Derry they showed at 4:28, is that Daniel Craig?
Yes, I think so. He gets into a scrap with Sharpe later on.
Insert Bond jokes here.
Jesus, no longer we lost the American War of Independence, with Simmerson in charge
Is Sharpe on 4k yet
And "Women". don't forget that Hogan, especially with Sharpe.
Is he casually doing blow ?
"Major Lennox answered with his life". Oops, future episode. Spoilers
Hogan is there, in his bandy, straw hat.................but is observing everything with total scrutiny.
How come they replaced the actor for Wellington?
He did a podcast about it. Got really bad dysentry in Crimea and was virtually hospitalised so didn't feel like coming back. He also didn't like wearing the prosthetic nose.
@@chemistrykit920 Too bad, he and his dad did great jobs. His father was Patrick Troughton.
It is obvious that Wellington prefers a good no nonsense officer like Sharpe vs a fop like Simerson.
Well… looks like I’m subscribing to britbox lol
What does it take?
Why… Drinking, philandering, and throwing one’s money away.
If a soldier’s gonna do it right.
I don't like this Simmerson fella...
