The Dream Cabinet | Cherry's Installation about dreams 💤

Dreams have always fascinated me. Upon waking, I often struggle to recall the specifics of my dreams, left only with lingering emotions. Yet, on occasion, I vividly remember even the smallest details. Through this installation, I seek to convey the ethereal nature of dreams-moments felt and observed.
The dream cabinet comprises four drawers and a central compartment. The first drawer beckons viewers to engage with and immerse themselves in the dreamscape. The second drawer unveils the peculiarities and juxtapositions typical of dreams, featuring enlarged food items alongside eyeballs, with furniture proportions distorted.Moving on, the third drawer invites viewers into my personal space, showcasing intimate objects and scenes that reflect my dreams of stress, fear, and serenity through three short films played on old phones. The final drawer recounts a particularly vivid dream: a mountainous landscape where I encounter the skeletal remains of an avian species. Not a nightmare, this scene resembled a first-person video game exploration, echoing the audience's experience with the installation.The cabinet houses another profound dream, depicting a tranquil scene of a tree house inhabited by dwarfs engaged in their daily activities. Accessible only by the key housed in the birdcage within the skeleton drawer, this dream symbolizes the transition from death to a new realm, challenging viewers to perceive mortality beyond mere horror.
