- Every month I look forward to sharing my PC pickups with everyone. This month, I had 5 additions to my collection. While none of them were a Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, or Willie Mays, they were still some really great cards. I purchased two new vintage football cards to add to player runs that I'm working on. I also bought two t206 cards that I was able to add to my collection, as well as a non sport card that I'm super excited about.

Every month I tell myself "No cards this month. I need to save for some bigger cards." 15 seconds later I get an eBay watch reminder notification and I buy a card.
It's an incurable disease we all have!!!
I have that same illness!!
Really like the new T206 card you picked up, Graig. I'm excited to share my biggest pick-up this past month; it's a little unusual!
That's awesome!! Excited to see it. T206 cards are so gorgeous to me.
That Beckley was super nice. Congrats on some great pickups Graig!
Thanks so much. It was a great deal.
Those were some sweet pickups. My favorite pickup of yours was the Johnny Unitas PSA 5. I totally agree that card looks better than the PSA 6 that you sold. You have an excellent eye for cards that are under-graded. Great job.
Thanks. I love collecting vintage football cards. They're so awesome and so affordable.
Can’t believe you found a Molly Miller card! That’s insanely cool. Of course I love the Sherlock. But man, it seems like all the cards you picked up were just great buys!
Thanks man. It was a great month.
Great pickups!! Especially enjoy the vintage football!
It remains crazy to me how cheap vintage football cards are.
I love the T206 card with the same name as your daughter! Very cool! Keep the great content coming
Thanks so much. I was super happy to finally pick it up.
Great pickups Graig. I look forward to this video every month. Love the Unitas.
Who knew Dracula played for KC. Hahaha
LOL.
Great pickups Graig! All great looking cards. I don't recall seeing the Molly Miller before, but its a great looking card! Love the Holmes XRC!!
Thanks man. It was a fun month.
Nice pick-ups, Graig! I too struggle with saving for a bigger card at times, especially when great deals arise!
It's so hard to fill the tub with water, when the plug is out.
My collecting habits have been sort of hit or miss for the last couple years, no real direction. Since January my plans are to pick up hall of fame rookie cards starting in 1970 and going forward to 1995 for now. most recent pickups, '75 Yount and Jim Rice. love your content and close attention to the card market, that's always helpful.
I struggle with staying focused, for sure.
Gave a video like. Really fun to see all those pickups. Great to follow your progress on your T206 collection!
I'm doing a full video of my t206 collection that should post friday.
Your new Unitas is a gem. Great you found a T206 with your daughter's name. Always liked the Beckley but I do like to collect polar bear backs if the price is right .
The deep blue on the polar bear backs is pretty great, no doubt.
Great pickups. You know, the back of the T206 card tells you what year the card was printed by what the back is. I found a table someone posted on Twitter (X) of what backs were used in each year.
That's cool. I'd be interested in seeing that.
Love the Unitas story. That is a collector Win ! Lower grade card that is obviously better that the one that had the highest numerical grade ! And you made money on the deal ! 😂
Thanks Don!!
They are all awesome cards, Graig! You have a great eye.
Thanks Billy. It was a fun month of pickups.
Congrats on the pickups. Great job on the Unitas. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Orlando!!
great pickups graig, love the jake beckley. beautiful card.
Thanks. I was pumped to add it to the collection, and it was a great deal.
How cool is that, buying a T206 with your daughter's name! But my favorite was Sherlock, since I've been an avid reader of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle since boyhood. The Unitas swap was excellent, reminding me, for example, of selling a PSA 7 with poor centering and buying a perfect 6. If you manage to save a couple thousand, that could buy you a very nice Ernie rookie. A PSA 4 would even leave money to spare. The difficulty will be in finding one with a decent border above his name. So many of these are almost miscut at the top that I think PSA and SGC give some leeway since it is so common. But I don't accept that, and finally found a PSA 2 with rare nice centering.
Moving out of 7s and into 5s and 6s is a very savvy move imo.
Hi Graig. Really nice pickup, specially that upgrade Unitas. Thanks for sharing my friend. Talk soon pal.
Thanks my friend.
Great vintage football pickups! Love the Unitas and Starr.
Thanks. I was excited to add those to my collection.
Congrats on the pickups. That Unitas card looks terrific!
Thanks so much.
Some great pickups Graig! My math says by selling your original Unitas your first two pick ups were free! I picked up the second year Unitas raw for $90 and it came back an SGC 4 but looks like a 6. I am into it for $105 and love it, you got a great deal!
Think my favorite card you picked up is the Molly Miller, I think that it is the same name as your daughter is really cool!
Thanks, bud. High eye appeal but low grade cards are the best deals out there!!
Hi Graig,
Thanks for your pickup video for May. I really enjoyed the Starr & Unitas cards and the T206s!
Try and save your money for The National, but enjoy every pickup !
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Best Wishes,
Peter
Thanks Peter. I agree....trying to save, but trying to make good buys along the way.
Great pickup variety, Graig - I dig that Holmes - very nice 👍🏻
Thanks so much. I really enjoy your channel btw. I'm a big non sport collector behind closed doors. You have some awesome cards.
Nice pickups Graig. I see you’re following my Unitas-Starr strategy. In fact, I finally got the 57 Starr (& Hornung) rookie cards. The Starr is only a PSA 1 but it’s likely the most I can afford at the moment.
That set is such a great one.
Really like the Bart Starr Philadelphia cards and they are really affordable. As you always mention Graig, vintage football is undervalued.
It's super crazy how affordable vintage football is.
I'm all for trading down too. It can save money and, also most people can't really tell the difference between each assigned grade. Not even the graders. So a ''4'' can look just as good or better than a ''6'' for, a, fraction of the price.
Completely agree.
Great pick ups Graig. I love the 58 bart Starr.
Thanks Jason. I was super excited with the pickups.
Great pickups! I have trouble myself sticking to a no buy mindset. I am not a football collector, but that Bart Starr seems like a steal
I REALLY struggle staying focused.
Definitely the Molly Miller is the winner, but I also really liked that Jake Beckley. I did the T206 HOF journey about 10-12 years ago and it is still by far my favorite run I have ever completed (minus Wagner & Plank of course). I am excited for you, there are just so many great cards and I can’t wait to see your video on your progress so far. I’m also trying to save for the National, but you’re right about the tempting “pre-national” deals out there. What’s a collector to do. 🤷♂️😊
It's going to take me about 10 more years to complete it, but I'm slowly plugging away.
“And I’m a complete degenerate” I felt that
LOL. It's a fun club, actually.
Fantastic pickups! I’m trying to complete my Jack Kemp run since I’m a bills fan, not very close but I’ll get there eventually.
You'll get there. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Well, you failed to save as much for the National as you were hoping in May, but what a glorious "failure"! 🤯🤯🤯 All super sweet pickups with off-the-charts eye appeal! Your '58 Unitas downgrade to upgrade and walk away with around $100 was definitely my favorite of your May pickups! Congrats, my collecting brother! 😊👊
I have a hard time not spending, but then I also enjoy picking up great cards. So, It's a failure I'm ok with.
Great move “trading” into a much nicer looking 58 Unitas!
Thanks. Better card plus cash!!
The Jake Beckley is the best! $150 for that card is top notch!
Thanks man. I thought it was a great deal.
Nice pickups!
Thanks so much.
On the '58 Unitas: If some kid scratched off the back as Topps intended them to do, would PSA consider that "altered" ?The same goes for some 1960s baseball cards where Topps instructs you to scratch off or even write something in a blank box. Edit: The Bart Starr answered the question!
Not altered, but they would drop the grade for surface damage.
I found myself in a similar predicament...whether to create videos as a I pick-up cards or to create one monthly video. So...I do both. I create a Short of me opening the card when it arrives. Then, I make a long-form video cataloging all of the cards in one video.
#TheHobbyist
Shorts are a good idea!!
We are a lot alike cant control myself either when I see somthing I just got to buy
It's an illness...but I love it.
1. Jake Beckley
2. Molly Miller
3. “What do you mean there were football cards in this video? Of course there was.” -Sherlock Holmes
LOL. That's hilarious.
Love it!
Thanks so much. It's always fun grabbing some new cards for the PC.
That’s how it’s done, man. That Unitas 6 sucked. The 5 is way better. Big win
LOL. Thanks!!
You are the Warren Buffett of vintage cards.
I try to be a contrarian in most things.
There’s some psychology to why some of us like the centering of even, side to side, and a two / three ration top to bottom. Polaroid researched this to help design the Polaroid insta- Matic film cartridge. Art school factoids ? 😝🤷. “Secretive Non-Sports” 😂 let your Non-Sport Flag Fly!🤓👍
Wow. That's super interesting!!
I could be wrong, but i believe i have been seeing cards like the Bart Starr card not scratched on the back, and some scratched to unveil the answer to a question. Which one do you prefer, would you consider hunting for both scratched and unscratched? For me, at this point would like the scratched question/answer unveiled.
I prefer unscratched. But, ultimately I don't really care.
Favorite was the Beckley T206. But what the heck makes that Beckley a "2" ? Didn't see any creases or paper loss, and the corners certainly don't warrant a "2". Can you clarify the reason for the grade, or are they still just smoking crack in Newport Beach?
No paper loss. There was a small wrinkle across the top left corner, but almost more of corner damage than a wrinkle.
Why was that sherlock only a 2 looks so much better love the Unitas and the Starr
It has a slight bend in it. The eye appeal is fantastic.
I like that Jake Beckley
Thanks a bunch. I was happy to add it to the PC.
But you did not tell us what you originally bought the Unitas PSA 6 for
I bought it years ago.
You’re my kind of degenerate! Which is my favorite pickup? Elementary!! Molly Miller edged out Sherlock for the win!
LOL. All Chillson comments are creatively poetic.
2:50 🤟🏽🤓😎🤪👍
LOL.
DoubleD Dylan would approve of your "downgrade" move to a better centered Unitas!
Agree!!
Not a fan of cartoon cards. I focus on original photo cards only
I love the variety of options.
