I’ll be the first to say that Jansport needs to bring this back. It has style and the quality is amazing! I’ve had mine for over a decade now. I knew they had stopped making them, and I don’t know why, but I didn’t know how valuable they were until this morning when a kid told me how much they’re worth, especially the red tag ones. I bought mine for multiple reasons back in the day, and one reason why I bought it was because Ryan Gosling was rockin’ the Jansport red tag backpack.
Dude, EXACTLY! WHY don’t they bring it back?? Especially nowadays where heritage style is so big. It makes zero sense. Someone on Reddit who saw my video said they had no idea how much they were worth and forgot they had TWO brand new with tags in a box they got from Canada. I was so jealous. I’d love to have a brand new one as a backup. The white tag honestly sucks in comparison. Stoked you have one though! Take care of it. Make sure to condition the leather once a year ish. I just rewaxed mine for added protection.

Right? They’re so good! I would love if they released it with much thicker 17oz or there abouts waxed canvas or twill. I feel like they could sell them for $450-500 and people would buy them without question.
My favorite bag. Wish I could get another. Wish it came in black and grey. Soon I am going to measure every single thing on it. I’m going to make an all black and grey one with titanium hardware myself. I’m going to reuse my worn selvedge denim jeans with beautiful black/grey fades. It will not be the same, but I think I can do it.
Crazy I still use my white tag everyday and shes holding up well. Would love for them to bring these back just so I can double up. Best backpack I've owned.
I recently got the red tag Jansport Lhasa which is also a really good backpack and I’d love to see the return of the Pleasanton as it is like the bigger brother version of what I have right now and I’d appreciate the extra size of it.
That’s a cool bag as well! The entire Skip Yowell line should be rereleased IMO. Buuuut, if it’s only one to come back, it definitely needs to be the Pleasanton. Thanks for stopping by!

This sounds legit insane. You send a Pleasanton in for repairs and they just destroy it if they can't fix it? And then you get en e-mail saying , hey sorry buddy, we just destroyed it , thanks?
So the way it works is you print out a form and there’s two options if they can’t repair it. Either send it back or have them send a “replacement” of equal value. But, like I said in the vid, when I called Jansport, the lady told me that even though people check the “send it back” box, sometimes they still send a replacement and destroy the bag. I imagine the volume of bags they get is a lot, so I get it. Human error happens. Oh, and they definitely don’t have any inventory of Pleasantons to send as replacements, so who knows what they would actually replace it with. That said, I’m actually curious what parts on the Pleasanton they could actually use. But regardless, that’s what I was told and I wanted to make sure owners of the Pleasanton are very careful when their bags need repairing.
THAT’S what sucks. Not really. I showed one in this video by Filson but they discontinued it. Whenever someone has a bag that’s similar in design, the dimensions are usually off. I’ll look around and report back if I find something.
Never heard of this brand but it looks KIND of similar. I’ve been looking for a red tag for a while. I would like one close to new but would happily pay 500 for a reissue that has a bit better materials…but nothing else design wise should change. Best bag I ever owned, but I refuse to buy a white tag. 😂
