My current choice for what I name with Consultation is "You Are Already Dead" which seems appropriate.
Alex is clearly in the thrall of Big Gazelle with the giraffe slander.
I have to drive 25 miles for GameGenic products but that's ok. The store is very nice to stop by. My LGS in my town is a great place to play EDH
I don't appreciate the nightmare fuel Alex has given me with his talk about giraffes 😂 but that was a good game and even as a non-cedh player it's nice to get a reminder about building a backup plan into your decks in case your main strategy gets blown out so cheers for that
Absolutely caught the steiner math reference
Fun fact: when you copy a spell that can have a variable number of targets, you retain the number of targets (and distribution, if appropriate). so the copy of Turn the Earth could only shuffle in one card.
The banter in this game was top-tier 😂
Awesome seeing Grolnok. I made a deck with him last year and it was pretty fun. It's better when you can Hermit Druid your deck and get the croak counters on everything tho. haha :P

I feel for you, Elliot. I was playing my Grolnok deck, had Laboratory Maniac on and Canoptek Spyder on the battlefield. I cast Leveler, and one opponent destroyed my Spyder so I couldn’t win on the spot. The next player top decked a Path to Exile and got rid of Lab Man on my upkeep. 😢

Here's what I'm not understanding: if Thassa's Oracle was in the deck, and there was an LED in hand already, why not just cast Grolnok with the LED mana on main phase, so that Elliot has every permanent in his deck exiled with Croak Counters, including the Thassa's? Then, no one can mill it in response by targeting the Cephalid Illusionist. Yes, Jan still could've Goblin Bombardmented the Grolnok, but Eliot didn't see that board interaction in the first place to know that, so why go with a strictly worse and riskier line? Even if Jan shot down the Grolnok in response to the Hermit Druid's activation, Eliot would've THEN realized that neither line was a winning line on that turn in the first place, and could've saved his Turn the Earth to attempt to shuffle the Thassa's Oracle back on top in the upkeep of the next turn after attacking/blocking with the Cephalid Illusionist to get it off the field! The whole point of the Grolnok Deck is to activate Hermit Druid with Grolnok on the Field, seems very silly to just ignore a card that would say "Draw most of my deck" in favor of instantly losing the game to the current visible boardstate....
Turn the earth flashback (1G) to get Thoracle back and pay for Archaic (2) not an option?

great game to demonstrate why stax are weird in cedh. stax are the reason that jan lost the game and alex won. but in no way helped jerry in this game.
