These pictures never cease to amaze me
Cool, glad you like them!
I literally can't even believe you could do this! My brain can't wrap around the idea that a tiny speck of light could reach the surface with little diffusion, captured and focused by a lense, turned into digital files while preserving such accurate color spectrums far beyond perception and with so much resolution that each pixel contains even the finest detail of light information. MELTED BRAIN
Great work Chuck!
I recently captured M27 from the southern hemisphere and I had to wait until 3am to do that. It was lots of fun, and your image with the Explore Scientific telescope was a huge inspiration for me to go after that object, even if it was for 2 hours. Thanks for the inspiration and greetings from Chile!
Cool, thanks Felipe!
Hi Chuck. Having been a terrestrial photographer for years I believe in what you see is what you get, without manipulation. Timing sunsets /sunrises /shadows, etc. One shot color I think is as raw as you can get, to actually see it for what it is. Beautiful shots. Thanks Chuck
Thanks Perry!
How is star colour preserved, As a beginner and using a DSLR my many of my stars drift towards white. The difference in the blues and orange stars in Chuck's dumbbell nebula is very nice.
I wish I could tell you, they originally looked white in my picture as well (or some had very little color), but when I cranked up the saturation on them, the color started to reveal itself. I did run PixInsight's Photometric Color Calibration, but it didn't seem to make any difference on the stars.
The 127 did a wonderful capture of M27! The non-reddish background on the Veil is better IMHO. Good work, Chuck!
Cool, thanks Pete!
You're welcome.
Great images Chuck, I preferred the Red background on the Veil but I think the final edit is my favourite. Love the Dumbbell image, the star colour is fantastic
Lovely Images Chuck. Quite like the colours in the Veil, very nice.
Thanks Cosmuzz
Awesome vid as always chuck! 👏🏻
Thanks Kevin!
Great stuff Chuck!
Thanks Jens!
Amazing shots Chuck!
Thanks SharpStarAstro!
Oh wow, great image of the dumbbell nebula!! Very cool!! Oh the supernova remains is very cool! Love that nebula!! Thanks for sharing Chuck 👍👋
Thanks Ray, I'm still trying to process the Veil and come up with a version I like.
@@ChucksAstrophotography I do love the Veil Nebula! It’s just an awesome example of a supernova!!
Lovely images Chuck
Thanks
Callum!
Yep, one shot color with fast scopes is a great combination. My birthday present to my self this year is the TS version of the Sharpstar 15028 HNT f/2.8 hyperbolic newtonian. Bortle 5 skies, but gain 0 with the ASI2600MCPro give huge full well capacity and 16 bit depth and 14 stopes dynamic range, so I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of it.
One really cool target for the RASA 8 and OSC is Brocchi's cluster (The coathanger) asterism, with deep yellow star field and some wispy dark nebulosity. Come out great with short integration time.
OSC camera's now are actually really good. I thought for 9 months about picking up mono filters and camera to go with the refactor. Instead I went with the 2600mc Pro. Loving it. Nice Veil Chuck I started working on a Mosaic of the whole complex but sadly I dont think it will get finished this year. Just because I dont want to shoot over the hot roof of the house at night in the west with a Mosaic
Thanks for watching, Steve - that's a good idea for the mosaic. I should have gone for the West Veil and stitched them together.
Absolutely amazing images! I think any object looks really cool
Cool, thanks!
Hey, Chuck! I like better the OSC Dumbbell. Great work! The starfield is far much better, more colorful, and more populated. Of course you have more detail of the neb in the NB version, but the starfield, somehow, was diminished. You know what? You should maybe the next time do mono and osc and combine them! That would be awesome!
Thanks Enrique, I really like rich star fields.
Nice results buddy!
Thanks GAM!
@@ChucksAstrophotography My pleasure Chuck!
Hi Chuck...my view.. Leave the red in. If it’s there, show it. Hydrogen clouds lingering as part of the past supernova are historic fact 😊👍. They deserve ‘air-time’. Btw- I’m also torn between OSC and NB with my RASA8 but for The Veil NB is the best way to go.. Great images- as usual and congratulations on getting the Star next to your name (100k + subscribers)... Things are looking up!!
Great job Chuck! Your images are amazing!!
Thanks Trev!
Can you show some satellites?! Maybe a video just on satellites. Thank you so much!! Great videos
So gorgeous but also the history of such massive scales of destruction
Today I subscribed to your channel, content/information is really interesting & good
Awesome, thanks!
Looking good, Chuck!
For your scopes, what do you see as the wind limit? How slow must the wind be before you start imaging? I like the idea of one shot color too. As always, great shots. Waiting for Dallas skies to stop looking like Houston skies - full of humidity!
I never thought about wind much, it's rarely ever windy here. But I think I'd like 10mph or less.
Hi Chuck, hope you are well. Great images! I also like the reddish one, looks more natural… I agree with OSC, the details perhaps are not as great but lately cameras are impressive… I personally like how the stars turnout with OSC.
Thanks, I liked the stars too - I don't mind losing a little detail in exchange for ease of use.
When will the next stream be? I would love to watch the sun again👍
I love my osc asi294mc pro, I'm waaaay too impatient for mono. however I highly recommend using a duo band or quad band filter with your osc. I use optolong l extreme and love the results. Can't deny they are pushing filter tech.
Cool, now does the duo-band only return narrowband data?
@@ChucksAstrophotography more or less, yes. Even so, my stars look fine. It's 7nm band Oiii and HAlpha. Optolong L extreme is a bit narrower than the l enhance but I think they both look good. Great for light polluted areas. Less natural color than broad band but you're going to get some better signal on the longer subs. They are a staple of any osc.
Great Shots Chuck! Love the Images. Love the Thumbnail too!!👍🏻🔭
Thanks DSH - I thought I'd try something different on them thumbnail this time, lol.
Love the hat , Chuck..
Cool, thanks Keith, it's kind of my trademark on this channel
Amazing pictures Chuck!! What nm are the narrowband filters you use? I'm in doubt whether to buy them for 8nm or less. Thanks and greetings from Spain
I think those Baader filters are around 10nm, but I don't think it's listed anywhere. Baader just calls them "High Speed" - marketing strategy I guess.
@@ChucksAstrophotography
if true, I've seen them as f2 and high speed but according to the quantica efficiency graphs it has the same percentage as the ones that aren't "high speed" hehe. Thank you for your master's response
Thanks for the vid. Very fun. I just wanted to ask what GEM would you recommend? Right now I have a Celestron 8SE and I am wanting to put that on an equitorial mount. What cha think?
I have experience with three equatorial mounts: The Celestron AVX, the Celestron CGX, and the Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro mounts. I would call it a tie between the CGX and EQ6-R Pro, but if you want a scope that can handle a bigger payload for the future if you get an even bigger scope, the CGX wins.
Damn i love that equipment lmao, i only got a 10 year old telescope i dont even know the name and its worth like 30 bucks, can only see the moon.
Advice for a new one?
wow!
I'll have the space guts with a little extra red please.
lol, I'm still working on it even after I uploaded the video.
Hey Chuck, I have a chance to buy a ES 152 ED for around $4,500 (used). Would you advise buying a new 127 fcd100 CF or the used 152 ED Cf? I have an Eq6R pro mount.
Is that 152 ED the same scope I see on Explore Scientific's website that goes for $6,499? If so, then you're getting $2K off and that sounds pretty good. I'd go for the bigger scope as long as you have another scope that can still get a wider field when you're in the mood for a change.
@@ChucksAstrophotography I use my RedCat 51 for widefield
@@ChucksAstrophotography Can I have this scope sent to ES for cleaning and refurb? Looks like I have a deal but I want to be sure I'm ok here .Thank you Chuck!
@@Mr6sess I wonder if they do that. I would email them.
@@ChucksAstrophotography Turned out GREAT! They only charge $100 to clean and collimate but I paid $99 yearly to become a vip member and the service is included... and I get $100 coupon! so I made a $1 recoup. Now I am tackling the flattener/ reducer issue but I have time. My scope is going to ES 1st for servicing then to me. The ES flattener/ reducer is out until maybe fall. Any suggestions are welcomed Sir. Than you for you insight! Love these vids... especially the bloopers and outtakes! #AlexaTurnThe#@!#Lights On
What is a nebula?
One question, UFOs? Ever seen something out there...
How I wish I could get a telescope 😭
Its really sad how space deniers call all of this fake even though these telescopes show the same images
Hi
Glad you have the patience for this & the love to share it. God bless you! 😁
Thanks, and I'm still trying to get the Veil right.
Love how the stars look. Surprised to see that with a OSC!! Good one, Chuck! Cygnus loop looks spectacular.
Thanks, I was happy with the stars too.
I like the less red Veil. So now you’re spoiled. OSC ease of use and the speed of Rasa lol. Now you need a Roomba on each tripod foot so it can wheel out remotely. Just joshing ya. I have identical versions of the same camera in OSC and mono. Last night I shot planetary with rgb and ch4. I compared and truly I believe the read noise is so negligible on cmos these days that mono isn’t worth the effort. I realize that’s sacrilegious to say. It’s oh well. What I do like is how obviously enjoyable osc is to you. It seems you’re producing more and having more fun doing it. Ultimately that’s the kind of thing that’s important to me at the end of the day. I wasted a lot of time and energy sequencing and even more combining last night. Meh. “The best camera is the one you use”. That’s so true. Clear skies Chuck.
Right, fun comes first and the OSC is absolutely more fun. And I know in my light polluted skies, I will never capture award-winning images with broadband anyway - so why not make things easier with OSC. “The best camera is the one you use”. - I like that.
Great video Chuck. I agree about the one shot colour! I’ve invested in a ZWO 2600mc pro, I don’t have the time for lots of filters! By the way, your Redcat fits the whole of the veil nebula nicely!!👍
Thanks Simon - yeah, I figured the Redcat would.
Looks good Chuck!
Thanks Ray!
What's a good telescope for beginners but powerful at same time? Any suggestions
How about the Celestron Edge HD 8-inch. You can do visual, deep space, and planetary on it.
Great shots. Both Veils look super. I’d probably go without the red background but great work. Many thanks for your time in sharing 👍🔭
Many thanks!
Cheers Chuck always nice to hear the details. I think I'm way too lazy to go mono, although I do like the Solar imaging so might try one day. Lovely work.
Thanks for watching, Ollie!
Very nice images Chuck. My Dumbbell shots at F/7 using the 8 EdgeHD plus focal reducer (and ASI178MC) are decent and tend to fill up the FOV pretty well. But I’ve only managed about 20 minutes total exposure time so far, so not quite as noise free! On the veil nebula images, I couldn’t decide on the better version, both are very nice.
Yeah, I bet you can pick up some nice detail with that much focal length.
Wow 👀 Your work is INCREDIBLE 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
Great work Chuck. I am liking the OSC for broadband as well. I think somewhere in between for the Veil, I always go for the slightly more red, however, I have been 'accused' of having too much red in my images by other astrophotographers. - Cheers Kurt
Thanks Kurt, your latest pic of the Ghost Nebula was AWESOME!
@@ChucksAstrophotography Thanks - with a OSC.
Great stuff. I really like your channel, Chuck. I have to get back to telescoping
Thanks Jeffrey!
I'm going to try to use the L-eNhance with the RASA to get some summer nebula action soon! Very cool video.
Good plan!
Awesome widefield of the Veils Chuck, That's going to look amazing on a metal print!
I hope so, thanks Joe!
Thumbnail photo is badass, Chuck! Awesome images as well.
Thanks, I thought it was time for a different kind of thumbnail this time. lol
Glad you are loving OSC. I will get narrowband one day but maybe only for the L, Ha, OIII and SII
OSC is so much easier and I'm having more fun.
Lovely shots Chuck!
Thanks Caleb!
Nice video Chuck. I recently did the Veil myself with the Redcat. I like just using the 2 channels, think I'll reprocess eliminating S2 and see what I get. The Rasa is such an impressive scope. I've been tossing around the idea of selling the Redcat and getting Hyperstar for my c925, but its such a difficult decision. I struggle with just as much light pollution as you do. The redcat is such a nice scope for when I travel, but the Hyperstar makes better use of the night. So much frustration.
Thanks Matt. Yeah, I was not a big fan of using SII in the Veil, using just Ha and OIII gives it a more natural look. I love this RASA and I'm sure you will have loads of fun if you get HyperStar.
Looks amazing! Great shots man, I'm looking to get my first telescope soon, any recommendations for something able to capture Jupiter? (In semi good detail)
8 inch dobsonian excellent first scope.
Awesome as always Chuck!!!
Imagine going to the south/north poles to see what u can capture.
Subahanallah... Can u imagine how great is the creator...Allah the allmighty.. Compare to us...nothing..why people still dont beleived..when we die our soul will go far beyond then this...can u imagine..allahuakbar..please use our mind to think...whether u like or not we will die one day..all of us..then only 2 places waiting either hell or heaven...nothing else...for sure everyone want to heaven...and to enter the heaven only one way...only one way...it thru islam..the only relegion was accepted to enter heaven...others NO...sorry to said...but its facts...whethet u like or not thats the only choice we have...believe me...
Have u ever seen ufo while watching sky?
Awsome thank you for letting us see those
i’m currently 20 and don’t have the funds to explore like i would like but this whole channel gives me hope to be just like this man when i’m older
Astronomy and space in general absolutely amaze me. There's a 0% chance we're alone in this universe.
Man you deserve way more likes and subs! I just found your channel and everything I've seen i liked a lot! Keep it up man👍
Beautiful images, beautiful hobby, keep up the good work
Hey chuck lots of storm frontage is heading near your area, headed north east of maryland through new york.
Out Solar System?
Great images Chuck, the third version of the Veil is in my opinion the best
Think it could be possible for ametures to hit a retroreflector on the moon with a high power laser and good optics?
Sir sorry for this silly question did u found any ufo 🛸🛸🛸👽👽👽
I absolutely love your content. Keep it up dude. Much love x

Cool, thanks for your input.
I like the blue, it demonstrates to me the vastness of space a little more
First version looks more natural.
great work , Veil Nebula is my fav
Can pls show the mars like u HV shown us the sun
Hi im new subscribers to you 😍
Respect for your work sir.
Since you've taken a hankering towards OSC, have you thought about getting am Idas NBZ filter to go on the rasa? It's supposed to be a highspeed shifted dual narrowband filter for OSC cameras. There is also an optolong L-extreme which is basically the NBZ filter but slightly narrower bandpass for slower optics. It does seem to produce halos in the oiii channel however.
Since sky's are hard to come by anymore I've thought about going for a larger sensor OSC over the 533 myself.
I enjoy your vids and live feeds, Chuck! Thanks for allowing us to follow along and live vicariously through your scopes! 🙂
Thanks Allan! Yeah, I've thought about those filters for the OSC, but I still have an extra ASI1600MM and High Speed Baader filters that I don't mind swapping in when I'm in the mood for narrowband - so I'll probably stick with that for the time being.
Such a cool hobby
Beautiful
Hi loved the video! I’m 15 on a limited budget looking to get into astrology are there any quality decently priced telescopes that could at least get a decent view of all the planets in the solar system that you could suggest?
8 inch dobsonian with a 2x Barlow to increase mag with your eyepieces . Check Orion telescopes .
