    Oh cm'on Duncan... can't you see the chicken wire of the solar panel? This is just a cage where they keep wild pirate chickens, when once upon the time, they rebelled against the sun! (big upheaval, didn't want to wake up every morning when the sun was rising, Casio had to put then in this cage...) So, dial/case is the porthole, pretty safe, haven't heard any escapes from there...
    Is "porthole" a good nickname then??? 🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Cheers mate, your brother will enjoy this very much. Friend of mine had this for over ten years (gave it to a "watchmaker" to change the battery, water came in afterwards... that kind of watchmaker!).
    Hope all is well mate, cheers once more.

    Great review. I have the grayish/silver/black one ($21.00 USD). It's a great beater/backup. If you want a G Shock, buy a G Shock (there are cheaper ones out there, for example, the GA100-1A1 ). But if you want the look, but want to save money, buy this one. It's a Casio so it's tough enough. And the Tough Solar is awesome. On a review that I watched on this watch he says that it has a mineral glass crystal but you are saying that it is resin glass. Who is right? Is it mineral glass or resin? If it is resin, that would be a deal breaker for me. I have a MRW-200H with a resin crystal and everytime I wear it my shirt cuff and jacket sleeve leaves the glass full of hairline micro scratches all over it and I have to polish them out everytime that I wear it. Subsequently I have changed the crystal for a mineral glass and now it stays scratch free. It looks on this watch that that mod would be very difficult to do as the bezel overhangs the crystal. Your thoughts?

    • @thetimebombardier
      @thetimebombardier  6 месяцев назад +1

      Gdday Patrick and welcome to the channel bud 😎👍 so yeah it's odd cos on the casio uk website they call it resin glass but other websites have it down as acrylic or mineral so hence why i said resin glass to keep with the casio ref as i honestly don't know what to believe 😅😅 the mrw's are great beaters and yes i think a screen sticker protector would be a better option for this 810, have you looked at the ae1500 i reviewed, way better legibility 😎😎

    • @patrickchapman3741
      @patrickchapman3741 6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Duncan, Thanks for the reply comment. Yes I have seen the crystal description as everything that you mention but I still have not got a definitive answer. It's very simple to distinguish one from the other. Just touch the crystal gently to your lip or forehead, A resin- acrylic crystal will be slightly warm and a mineral crystal will be a lot colder and a sapphire crystal will be ice cold by comparison. A quick easy way to tell the difference. The MRW is one of my favorites and I wear it a lot now that it has a mineral crystal. A mod not to be attempted by the faint hearted. I have an AE-1500 in my collection and I don't mind the physical size on my tiny 5.9 inch wrist. My wife calls it my Big Ben. It is amazingly legible but I do have a leaning towards analog displays. I have one of each of the color ways of the MDV-106's and they really get a lot of wrist time. They are all on stainless steel closed end bracelets as I find that the standard rubber strap is too chunky for my minature wrist. I have also fitted a cyclops date magnifyer to each one as I find the date a bit small. My wife says that with the cyclops on the Pepsi bezel one now looks like my GMT Master. What do you think that the 4 screws are for on the front of the S810 are for? I realize it's your brothers watch but if you wip them out to see what happens I promise I won't tell him. Thanks again. @@patrickchapman3741 cheers Patrick, sounds like you should be doing your own videos on these!!! and yeah I tried to get the screws out and they didn't budge LOL and yes date windows on casios on citizens are not always the best, i never used to like cyclops on any watch as I find they distort the whole dial balance too much but i'm learning to be less judgmental 😎😎

    • @patrickchapman3741
      @patrickchapman3741 6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Duncan, My GMT Master and Submariner all came standard with the cyclops date magnifier as did my Swiss Army DHC's I got my first Rolex in 1966 so I have got so used to having a date cyclops that a watch looks bear to me without it. I guess that feature will appeal to some and not others. I have been a mechanical watch fan for most of my life and as an engineer I can appreciate the engineering genius and precision built into them. My Rolexe's are certified chronometers and keep time to approximately 6 seconds per day. As a much younger person I thought that this was amazing but now that I also have a collection of quartz watches I realize just how bad that really is. My 20 US dollar MRW-200H keeps time to one second per month. I have a Longines Conquest VHP in my collection and that keeps time to 4 seconds per year but at what cost. Value for money I doubt that the Casio's can be beat. My AE-1500 is good for 1 second per week and at the price that is unbeatable. I will leave the video's to you, nobody wants to see a 70 year old fart on their computer monitor and my voice is not suitable either. Some of the reviews that I see I just turn off because I can't understand a word that they are saying. I was hoping that the screws would come out on the AQ-S810 and then the bezel would come with them - Ah well. I have one on order from the USA which should be here in the next week or two. When it gets here I will disassemble it and see if the crystal can be replaced. I will report back then. Stay well, Regards Patrick. @@thetimebombardier

      @@patrickchapman3741 cheers Patrick and I hope you still have those old roleys as they must carry a whole load of history and experience in them, which is not easily replaced, yes current digis are becoming better precision tools but like you I do really enjoy the interaction with autos, it's a simple connection but knowing i'm giving life to the movement is one of the foundations of being a watch nutter i think haha and as to ageing farts - hmmm i think they have more to offer than many younger wannabes and fake experts of which there are many!!
