    Hey guys, after a few requests i decided it was time to finally have a look at the first Typhoon in the British line, the Typhoon Mk Ia. A plane that presents a good challenge :) Hope you enjoy! and do make sure to like, commend and subscribe if you're new. Have a great Day! :)

      Nice video :)
      I personally LOVE two British masterpiece.
      If I do not think of jets, both Typhoon Mk Ib (yup, that premium) and Spitfire F. Mk XVI (a request that got accepted).
      Two British planes, couldnt be any more different. One goes for rolling maneuver, the other goes for afking elevator turns lol :)
      Anyway, when will you be making my(..?) requested video..? I mean, I cannot wait for that. Regards, loved your Fw 190 D-13 video and loving this one as well. How can you review something I wanted for 3 times in a row? That was not just a coincedence lol :)

  • @Jupiter__001_

    7:30 I found a way to beat things like 109s that have an energy advantage on you in this machine. You dive when they dive on you (alternatively, you can choose to force your opponent to dive on you before they planned to if you so choose). After they have bled off more energy than you (they are going faster therefore more drag) you put your plane level, and basically have a drag race against them, and your huge top speed will take you away.

    Yo Jengar, maybe you'll read this at some point but thanks a bunch bud. As soon as I started flying it high those bombers didn't stand a chance. And when I said ah screw it and flew down to pick off stragglers, I trapped them in the canyons, nowhere to out turn me so he just ran, and oh, this thing just chases like a tiger when you're fighting from behind when the enemy has nowhere to run. Again thanks a bunch and you truly contribute to my enjoyment in this game. My greatest regards Joseph-

    It may be unforgiving in RB but in mixed battles it really shines for me. An excellent bomb load for its tier, and more often than not I end up engaging planes that are set up for CAS rather than pure dogfighting. Swoop in fast, kill a tank, retain all that energy and climb and start hunting the enemy attackers which are usually low on alt an energy with seemingly unlimited ammo. Sure, it may be a big fish in a small pond, but it's a very big fish.

    @isaaclee8729 6 лет назад +5

    I like how your review of the typhoon resonates with my experience from flying it out at air RB (agree with the poor roll rate and bad energy retention performance in the vertical). I struggle alot with this plane (typhoon mk1a), especially when it's uptiered as the top speed is what I felt as the only advantage it has against axis planes at sea level. This plane only does well with shallow climbs and shallow dives, but because of it's stiff handling at high speeds, I can't pull the guns to lead on the target.

  • @AmateurCaptain

    I have a soft spot for this plane, as it's one of the first planes (first British at least) I flew out in Realistic battles. I had a great game once, managing to shoot down a BV 238 and then a He 111 a couple seconds later.
    Edit- I like to kick the rudder in during a roll, it really speeds it up.
    I think this plane deserves a 2.3 BR in RB, because 2.7 is a bit harsh considering the other types of planes it meets.

      I kinda think what actually killed the light pillbox was the AI tanks/pillboxes on Jengar's side. It just gave him the kill because the reward timer for it didn't run out before it was destroyed. It takes me a good number of .50's to take one out with universal rounds (early war belts, the ones with no AP-I rounds and consisting of AP - AP - AP - T - I), so I would shudder to think how many .303's would be needed to take a light pillbox down with their universal rounds.

      @@Jupiter__001_ Thing is I was too salty at the time when I posted that, after being bullied by 109 F4s every single match in my almost stock typhoon. 109 F4s have moved to 4.0 but I still feel it does not handle uptiers as good as any 109.

    • @Jupiter__001_
      @Jupiter__001_ 5 лет назад

      @@WigglyWings True. I took mine out today for a spin and got bad results, but maybe that's just my poor piloting (only lvl 13). You can out-run a 109 in a straight line at most altitudes, with this being most noticeable below 3000m. This also gives superior horizontal energy retention. You cannot out-dive them, but you can nearly dive with them.
      Diving for a while and then levelling out bleeds the 109's energy more than your own, so as long as you begin this whilst the opponent is just outside gun-range, you should be fine. Your opponent will be forced to break off and find a better target, leaving you to extend further and regain energy. This is a somewhat reliable tactic that works against 109s that have a small/medium energy advantage over you. It is, however, very time-intensive, as the chase can last very long in some cases.
      But indeed, I got salty and gave up in the end because I was disappointed both in the plane and myself, as I always either died because I was cautious and sideclimbed, leaving my entire team to die, or I then played recklessly due to frustration with the whole "slow and steady" approach. I think I got only one or two kills the entire 3 hour session.

  • @kingghidorah8106
    @kingghidorah8106 4 года назад +1

    When I unlocked the Typhoon I test flew it and I was... Disappointed. But that was like three months ago. Now wow man I prefer it very much over spitfires. I barely turn with my spits, I just use my horizontal energy retention and the spit s amazing capacity to keep climbing meters and meters in a shallow degree. But the Spitfires I have lack what the Typhoon has: Vertical retention AND most importantly acceleration. It's so funny to see 109s stalling as you go spiraling them up, that Napier Sabre is a beast. And the firepower with tracers is like a prelude to what F82 with the gunpod feels like. They even hit hard enough to one shot quickscope other players or leave them burning and still 5-6 kills and still have other 3500 bullets left. I spaded it in 3 matches: the first was 4 kills and an assist, the second one was a failure as I crashed on a 109 right after i set it on fire ,and couldn't do anything despite my energy status was optimal and could take down a couple of planes lower (a 110 and a duck) and the third one against Germany and Italy was just glorious: I could reverse someone on a 109 by just rolling! Even knowing how badly this thing rolls even with rudder help, and then got other 3 kills and an assist. I love this plane and I feel like I'm going to love the Hawker line way more than the spit line, as now my only spit targets would be the LF 9 and the 24, and maybe the mk14, as for the 22 being too weak in the verticals, so that I managed to reverse with yak 9p an ace pilot that BnZed me with a mk22 with pretty fearsome KDR, using yak 9p in pure vertical fight. As always Jengar your videos are amazing and very entertaining. Adam 514 is also very useful but lacks the warm touch you add to your videos. Sorry for this long text though

I`m so used of giving rudderinput during a roll that when I fly another plane, I "oversteer". Or in case of italian planes even end up in a flatspin because I forgot about it again...lol. Hey Jengar IDK if they changed the FM or it just fits my playstyle for some reason but you know the IAR-81C which you didn't have much nice to say about? Yeah so I did a 1000 GE GBW to pay for it (since you said it was shite not gonna use my own money but I still like to collect) got to take it out once last night and...wow. I got Norway and had NO problem hanging out with the 109s at 6km, took a head on that cracked the oil cooler, it didn't care, and was able to take 3 kills and the #1 slot with a metric crapton of ammo left over.
    I have to say I was quite impressed with the little darling, she got a bit heavy in dives but as long as I pulled to level before reaching 600kmh she had no issues and I found her to be quite nimble and easy to handle.

      Guess so as to me it felt a bit like an F4F crossed with a C.205, bit heavy on the stick in a dive (like the F4F) but with decent agility at 350kmh similar to a slightly fatter C.205.And you can't go wrong with Minengeschoss at 2.7 BR, everything I got guns on just assploded, didn't even fire the MGs once.
      And hey wouldn't be the first time they listened to outrage, remember what a giant POS the Narval was upon release? that thing bled so much energy if you did any kind of maneuver that you were just a sitting duck, now its a pretty decent high alt fighter.

    Ah yes, the Fw 190 that traded aileron authority for elevator authority. When I first flew this, I thought it was a bad turner because it rolled so slowly it just looks slothful, until I outturned a Ki-61 then I realized it was actually a pretty reasonable turner.
    One trait is that it decelerates momentarily when you WEP, but that was my experience in arcade. I'm sure lowering the prop pitch should help in RB.

    • @jengar6258

      @@jengar6258 Begs the question: how good of a brake would it be at 100% prop pitch and 0% throttle? Despite its immense weight, its propeller can still decelerate the plane just by RPM alone. I feel like the Typhoon has some untapped potential there, I've never seen other planes with such an unusual property.

    • @Blitzcreeper239
      @Blitzcreeper239 6 лет назад

      Ki-61 isn't that good at turning anyway, I also held the energy advantage and was spiral climbing but nevertheless, it still has a good elevator authority. I'd reckon it can compete with Bf 109s in hard turning but if the pilot brings rolling manuevers into the mix then the Typhoon will suffer.

    • @Blitzcreeper239
      @Blitzcreeper239 6 лет назад

      And with reference to what you said: good Russian pilots will head-on and extend away from the turnfighters. The energy fighting Japanese planes are nimble but they each have their own individual weaknesses, especially at low-alt against Russians. Bad Japanese pilots will only survive, albeit shortly, in turnfighters at best. If they don't know how to energy fight, they won't win in a Ki-61 or a J2M2.

Both this and the cannon tiffy are excellent at anti cas because all the engagements take place at low altitude where your big engine can really shine. I've also found that both the typhoons actually do turn very well (better than anything German, at any rate) and have better elevator authority than most at high speed. I got 6 kills in like 5 minutes with this beauty, I'd say its the one Tiffie in this game that DOES NOT SUCK which from someone that LOATHES his premium Typhoon? That is saying a lot!
    What was the trick? 300m convergence with Stealths. I've been running anything with .303s at that convergence and those belts as I've been playing a lot of high tier Spits where you live by the .303 deflection shots against K4s and Doras so I decided to leave it for this bird and...wow! Everything I pointed at either was insta-nuked or its tail flew clean off in a single burst, I ended that 6 kill run with over 1200 rounds left to go and could have easily taken a couple more but a guy on the team begged to have the last kills as he was running a booster and I didn't want to be an ass LOL!

    I only came good in the 1a when I got good at using my convergence. Deleting unarmoured ground units plus the odd stray aircraft is her strength. She has the speed to drag enemies to team mates or the AF to deal with.

    Ugh the Tiffie....I have the premium one, worst premium in the game IMHO. I'd rather fly the German Wellie than the Tiffie as at least the Wellie is useful as a bomber. The premium Tiffie is 1.- Lousy in a dive, 2.- takes forever to wind up, 3.- turns like a bus, and 4.- Sparkspanos which as everyone can see with you wailing on the HE-111 really suck right now.
    So glad you found a use for a Tiffie besides hangar decoration, better you than me friend.

      Really? Then allow me to say ahead of time my condolences, that damned thing has to be the most infuriating bird in my hangar bar none. Nothing like spending 6+ minutes to get to alt only to have your entire team slaughtered, fight your ass off against 5 109s to get a deflection shot only to get "spark spark black puff spark spark". I swear Sparkspano MK IIs make Italian MGs look good by comparison,over 250-300m you might as well be throwing scones while 151s can cut you in half from 700m!

    • @Eruthian
      @Eruthian 6 лет назад

      Well, that Tiffy was my first premium ever and from what I can see, one of the best performing workhorses in my hangar in my early days. I prefer the 1b/l now, but let me tell you this: If you always keep your bad rollrate in mind and use it at speeds 300 km/h and above, you have a beast of a plane. My personal "Aha" moment (which was in the 1b/l but works in the 1b aswell) was, when I noticed I could make a full loop in under 5 seconds at the right speed... And the crazy energy retention even makes it possible to attack guys from below with ease.

      It helps that British LMGs are second only to ShKAS in terms of lethal belts. Tracer belts drive bombers mad with a steady burst

      I tend to be able to kill planes in one short burst, but that's only because I go for the Hartmann approach, the typhoon is fast enough that I can close distance easily, so I set my convergence to about 200 metres.
