This event is special because it marked the end of an era as it is probably the last truly watchable, legit monster truck racing show ever aired on TV, largely thanks to one of the best announcer combos in MT history (along with Galloway/Broo, Armstrong/Lee, and Armstrong/Leek). These guys made it enjoyable to watch and knew how to tell a compelling story -- they had personality and charisma which MT racing has lacked since. Even though this was a USHRA event, it still had the spirit of the previous Motor Madness shows put on by USA Motorsports (worth noting PACE probably bought USA mostly for this timeslot, which of course they ruined the format after this event). Those shows featured some of the purest MT racing ever, up there with TNT (and I'd say Penda, but they lacked the spectacle of TNT and USA); and probably the best production since late 80s USHRA telecasts. Unfortunately by the time this event took place, BIgfoot was gone; but had they still been with USHRA this event would have been perfect. RIP monster truck racing.
amen brother
TNN was such an awesome channel for so many years...I miss it as much as old-school monster truck racing.
"blowin smoke is what you do all the time"
"easy Galloway, it's early in the show"
the way they says Meents is golden
If only all the TNN shows were produced this way. Perfect.
What a lineup!
How monster truck racing should be
ooh yes how i miss the old days of REAL monster trucks!!!
Was this the year that stuntman tried to jump a motorcycle over a bus and smashed directly into the back of the bus? We all sat there cheering thinking it was part of the show until medical arrived 5 minutes later to rescue the dude.
Ill never forget it.
It was hilarious but not funny at the same time.
Epic bear foot
2:06 try and pet that kitty!😂😂😂😂😂
I love monster patrol does anyone agree with me or not?
Vaca Jump same I love that truck
Why dosen’t!?
I agree
I'm here
Same with me
I remember this one, we left it early, because there was no Bigfoot. It was all Gravedigger, and everyone was cheering for him. It was no fun. Worst part was I was sure that they said Bigfoot was in it, and I even showed my did the ad. I have really never been to a monster truck show since.😥
Bearfoot was in this event. You probably misheard it as "Bigfoot." Monster truck events are still really fun to go to, trust me
This is classic!!! Do you happen to have Beaumont or Des Moines 1998 from USA Motorsports?
I don't believe I have Des Moines, but I do have Beaumont '98. Working on that right now, should be up in a day or so ;)
whiskywasthebiz82 somebody I am subscribed to has des moines. lol
Dalton Hastings stop being mean
funny comparing Tom like Dennis and now they are neck and neck rivals and friends
Monter patrol
Damn I miss this old racing. Crushing cars the way Monster Trucks are suppose to be. Not this freestyle crap they hardly crush anymore on Monster Jam.
Freestyle is ok but crush cars need to be back
@@dnray2092 100% agree
Bull Dozer? is that the truck now known as El Toro Loco?
Correct.
No they're 2 different trucks. They ran at the same time for a while
First off, great show, thanks for uploading! I love it!.. But on another note, how in the holy heck did Galloway ever get the title the "professor?" He's enthusiastic & all but he knows absolutely NOTHING about anything really! I love all monster trucks regardless of announcers, & this had to be one of his last shows, but I feel like he never learned anything over all the years he did this. & that's fine, put him in the list with most of the other announcers who didn't know what they were talking about. But, why was he called the professor? It's just baffled me for so long I had to post the question out there on what I assume was possibly his last broadcast. Thanks
Galloway was one of the best announcers back in the day IMO. All announcers make errors.
+Michael King All good man, I liked him too. But had to put the question out there, & am still waiting for an answer...
It was a name that Ralph gave him during the 1997 season. Galloway probably knew more about trucks than any other announcer other than Army Armstrong. Everyone makes errors, especially during a live event.
@ 5:36 mark David Morris is ripped off. MP missed the second set of cars with his left front tire. This was one of the beginnings of everything goes Tom Meent's way
Hey
ohh yeahh i remember these days they actually had crush cars to run over .... they need to show this to MONSTER JAM .... ALL THEY DO IS RUN AROUND ON DIRT AND HILLS REAL ENTERTAINING !!!
As someone that grew up watching early 90's monster trucks. The trucks these days go WAAAY bigger. Who the fuck really cares if cars are involved or not. The dirt jumps are more consistent. You can not argue shows back then were better than now.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon Except they were better back then. Imagine today's trucks with the way the go bigger like you said, with the better jumps, backflip ramps, but all along with crush cars, the rv they would ram through and so on. Its exciting today, but nothing like it was back in the day.
Even the side events were better, demo derby, pro stadium trucks, atv/dirt bike racing or stunts. I could go on.
@@skol_wild164 ATV and dirtbike racing is BORING AS HELL in Monster Jam and it always has been. They replaced stadium trucks with speedsters which are way better than any side event monster jam used to have. People just don't like change.
