To get to this place of making cordage, from bark-
Please go to my video on retting bark for cordage.
Cordage from bark, you’ll have to experiment, only a few have strength to hold up as a bowstring.
Linden/basswood, was called the cordage tree, but not strong enough for a bowstring, snares and rope, no problem tho, basswood is medium strength

Good technique on getting the fibers to break up. I've seen people make bark cordage but not do that step. This probably makes for a more consistent and reliable product.

End of cordage, to stop unraveling, just tie and overhand knot, trim off stragglers.
Top of cord , tie a lariat loop, bottom that attaches to lower bow limb, tie a timber hitch. Look closely at the video here, you will see the overhand knot. Need more instructions on tying these knots, they are taught in the my knot videos. I put in the main knots I use all the time.
Pretty soon, more videos are coming, garden is in, house is coming along😉

I've been shredding poplar bark for a while. I've a paper sack full of it. The limbs that are dropping in spring
winds are naturally retted although some has gone to the point of rot and can't be used. I wish I could see
how he went from bark on the tree to the point the video started. As far as making cordage I cheated. I
bought raffia at a craft store and have made a couple of lengths of cordage that I may use as a necklace
or bracelet. The point is that I used the easily gained bought fiber so that I'd know a bit about the process
when working with the material I sweated over.

Do I just twist It until the end? How do I stop it from unwinding?

I'd imagine, you'd stop it with a knot.

Cool video! Have you tested the breaking strength of the cordage? I would be worried that sucker would break at draw and there goes your bow!

To test it, hang a weight that is more than one’s bow weight from the string.
I always make the last six inches where the timber hitch is a little bit thicker, at the knot weakens the poundage strength of the bowstring, otherwise, this is where it will invariably break
