    Have you ever tried hemp for bowstrings? After much research, I have found that hemp is stronger than linen, isn’t affected by water like flax is.
    Overall, I think hemp is the way to go.

      That is true of hemp. The stands are typically longer with less splicing

    What would I need for a deer raw hide bow string.. 80lb bow?
    I'll be cutting it into a big spiral, but how many plys? 3-4?

      Hey Tony, I would say 4 ply. read the chapter in dr al herring book Cherokee bows and arrow. that's the best info I've seen on rawhide strings

      @firstskills779 The spiral broke on me I used 2 squirrel hides. So I cut 4 long strips cow hide which are holding up good.. I prefer raw hide over sinew strings. Way to time consuming.
      Sythians used horse hide from what I read.

    We use the metric system in Europe. Inches, miles, gallons, feet, yards, sodium, potassium.... I know it exists, but we do not use it.

      we Americans are pretty much the only ones not on metric
