Not sounding like a "fanboy" but I still stand for the Wing. I've been mixing on one for a year and there is nothing more versatile for that price point. Is it perfect? Of course not. But you have to spend 10 times more to have anything remotely comparable in terms of flexibility (routing, processing, ease of use). As for the "respectable brands" I've seen them all fail and have issues and have to rely on hacks to work (like extra fans to cool them down). Digital mixers are computers with faders and buttons. Computers fail. As for the build quality, it's not gonna fall apart as you make it sound it will. It's strong enough as the rest, if you put it in a nice case. But I can understand your opinion, you have a lot of M32s. I wouldn't sell them to buy Wings, but if I had nothing, I would sure go for it, because I get all kinds of acts that benefit from the flexibility of the Wing.
Something folks worried about broken hardware may find useful: I received my Wing Rack yesterday, and was worried that the "Control Section" (right hand side of the front of the console) was broken. The screen just showed three vertical lines, and the mute and solo buttons did nothing. The input/aux, buses/main, dca/mute and cust/trans buttons lit up, but didn't change much. This morning, I figured it out (educated guess): go into Wing Edit, use the Assign screen, choose the "Rack" section, then for each of the five layers: select the layer, click on "edit", then click on "init". Voila: working control section. This may be obvious to other users, but as a newbie to Wing I still have very little idea what the Assign screen is really about. (I love the features, but would really value some more in-depth documentation.) But I'm now more confident that my mixer doesn't have a hardware fault. Hope this might help someone else in a similar situation.
Well, my rental company has two wings they are around 3 years old. They works flawlesly and we have few x32's in reserve but not a single technician prefers them anymore. So I don't know, we are happy with it. Will there be issues with compact and rack? For sure, but it will get fixed.
@@VladicD it will take some time to get the kinks and bugs worked out. I got the Xbox One a month after launch and it was very buggy and unstable. A year or 2 later, it ran extremely stable.

Bro no disrespect but i have bought stuff from very big name brands and as soon as i switch on they either burn or some weird stuff happen. It happens to everyone. I have had a wing for the last 3 years and to this date..not one single issue..Not One. And just like you call it as you see it so do I and bro thank God your opinion is only yours just as everyone else. This thing has done exactly what I want and need it to do. With NO issues.
Have had the Midas M32 for a few years now in the studio with the fibre optic card going to ADAT multi-track recorders ...it's a beautiful thing. A great console. Still is in 24. Two desks I have worked with are the Yamaha DM7 and the 02R96VCM never had a problem with these either.
I just purchased a new Allen & Heath QU-SB. It’s been on the market 8 years and I’m sure something new and great will be announced at NAMM.. but it’s a real solid unit that sounds amazing and been proven. I really hope they don’t announce an SQ rack. That would make me a little sad
I've had an M32r with a DL32 for many years. Just bought an X32 Rack for backup. I came here with a negative attitude but after watching your video you have me thinking about the Wing Compact that Im on a list for getting when its available. :). Good job with explaining yourself! Thanks!
Wing's Compact got my attention immediately, and I am really glad I found your page before I preordered one. I'm wanting to build a new rig for our 4-pcs band to use for small bar gigs. The Compact checked most of the boxes that I'm interested in for a 19" rack mount slider based mixing board that we can mix from stage during shows. I'm also searching for a high quality set of powered speaker top cabs and subs. I'll keep watching your page, I very much appreciate your professional opinions!!
Been using the Presonus 24r since it came out flawlessly... almost bought the Compact but I have to believe A&H will fill the gap between the recently launched 16 channel "QSC touchmix" type boards and SQ5... and Yamaha's DM3 is too pricey for what it does - and the next level up is the DM7.
A 20 minute rant about mythical and non-existent reliability issues with the Wing, which has been in production for almost 5 years now. This video is a waste of time.
From all the reputable big brands you mentioned, I would only trust Yamaha. Allen & Heath gave me problems with a regularly failing QU16, replaced the mainboard twice and sold it, brand new Dlive froze during an event , luckily at the end of rehearsals a couple of hours before the show, GLs crapping out in the South China heat, need to bring a fan. Soudcraft I never see, just low end analog stuff. Yamaha CL never fails in comparison, sounds like Yamaha but solid as a Toyota. You're right about the Behringer branded quality, my X32 has a PSU issue, luckily I have a Midas MR18 purring for my rehearsal room while the X32 gets repaired. M series seem rock solid, used a bunch and never an issue, just processing quality could be a little better . I might still get a wing rack however, but I live in China (Music Tribe factory is 20km away, not that there's an advantage), but service is quick and cheap in China if needed. A Hartke retailer just replaced my LH1000 bass amp, I contacted them yesterday, shipped the faulty one and new one is being delivered today. Simple electronic board repair is usually $5-10 plus parts. But in the West I would indeed be more careful if the Wing is critical ! OH, M32 in a wood flight case survived seawater, some waves with sand splashed the partially open case during a storm (It was forgotten on a beach and there was storm surge), we dried and wiped it clean and it worked. Don't know long term, not my console🤣
Yamaha is so big it is difficult to pass by their arrogance and high prices for good, but nothing more than just good products. The same goes with their keyboards, drums, mixers, they work well but nothing more than that for a premium price. Behringer killed it with their X mixers, but not without flaws. But what I do not understand why Ui24R was so underrated, humans simply can not let go the myths and online hype that companies build around themselves.
You might have a blunt approach, but I agree with you. I’m in need of a new 32+ channel rack and hoping my A&H 16 channel can get me by until after NAM. Looking forward to what is around the corner. I considered buying a Wing Rack, but only of if I buy 2 to have a backup.
My experience with Behringer equipment has always been hit or miss. I had an analog console that was a workhorse for over a decade and hundreds of shows, and another that only lasted a year. I had an 8 channel interface in my studio that lasted 5 years and another I returned defective out of the box. I currently use a Soundcraft Ui24r that covers live sound and studio duties. Your content and reviews are honest and reliable. Thank you for being a great resource for information I trust.
Right on. I pre ordered the wing rack to replace my two xr 18's. But sweetwater says I won't see it until Feb or March. That gives me plenty of time cancel. So hopefully you are right, and they come out with something like an xr 32. The xr or Mr 18 would great with 32 in 16 out. This would be great for bands working clubs 3 4 nights a week and don't have luxury of a sound guy mixing live. These guys don't really need the onboard screen. They need all ins and outs on the front or top so you see what you are doing during setup in a poorly light vinue. Simply Have an ipad clamped onto your mic stand, set it, forget it. I use 2 xr18s linked, and it's a pain manage them with separate mix station apps. Thanks shedding light on what maybe happening because I rather see an Xr or Mr 32. So appreciate you no nonsense, no bull butter videos

I think we should be thankful for Behringer for fueling the competition. Most mixers today feel very dated. It was time a new generation came out. This will give us consumers better choices. Then everyone can decide what is more important to them: price, features, built quality or reliability. Obviously you can‘t have everything at once.😊
@@AlexisGitarre What was the point of this post exactly? It's a known fact that the M32 had superior build quality the X32. It's also a known fact that Behringer bought Midas hence "Midas Wing". Not "Allen Heath Wing" etc. So what exactly was the point of this post?

My whole issue with The Music Tribe is the back end support is horrible. I have had a personal experience with it and it is still not resolved. All sorts of things. Or it is 9 months to get a fader for a Wing. The Wing is a nice desk in terms of capabilities. Just pray it don't break.
You're not a fan of the Wing, and there's nothing wrong with that! I'm just not seeing evidence (via the forums and groups) to back up these massive issues you claim your followers are reporting. As someone who has used and own almost all the major brands on the market today the biggest failure of the Wing is that it is 48K and makes it impossible to use anything other than Waves soundgrid as an option for more processing without a giant latency penalty. Everything else, like USB, Dante, or whatever will introduce far too much latency. Had Behringer built a 96K capable console system around the Wing using an FPGA instead of a DSP based server system it might have been the next industry standard. But with Waves making their LV1 classic at only $8000 its hard to justify spending $5-6000 on a full Wing system that runs at 48K internally. I can see the Wing Rack being a great option for most bands to travel with as their personal mixer, since it will sound better than something like the Presonus Studiolive 24R Rack unit with its anemic 1 kilo-ohm mic preamp and terrible EQ cramping! I like the processing power o the Wing over 90% of other cheaper 48K digital mixers like the Presonus Studiolive or the QSC Touchmix. But the fact that it will be another 10 years before Behringer's digital mixer will be 96K compatible is just a no go for me. The rack would be good for a rehearsal mixer at $1599 so I can see that being the best option of all the WING products.
I just got my wing rack in. Been using the m32c with a dl32 for a few years now. Obviously if Midas would do the same thing with the m32 and make a "wing core" I would get that. but when? I decided to sell the backup m32c for $900 so it wasn't a huge investment to get the wing rack. I have a wedding this Friday.
