Great alternative to copper pipes and all the work that has to go into that type of installation. This pex tubing is much easier to work with and no soldering required.
Nice video you got there! Keep posting more informative videos since many people appreciates this.
Sound advice and effective tips, over all a very good video. Thanks for sharing all your videos, they’re all very useful and nicely done!

It's a very good video. Thanks for sharing your ideas and tactics.
first of all thanks for the helpful videos guys, it looks like fun when you guys do it together. Just keep up the great work..
PEX is the new copper! It's behind shower walls with no access all over the world now. Use it! Don't be afraid of it, it's got a better "blow-out" pressure rating than copper does. The fittings are incredible and they do not leak when installed correctly. Hope this helps.
Eddie

man I just learned a ton about Plumbing gotta love this pex system . nice video brother
Awesome video!
Hey Thanks Barbara! Yes, we will be uploading videos that discuss tile backer board, shower tile installation, etc. over the next few days. We also LOVE PEX plumbing for bathroom remodel projects! PEX makes it soooo easy to make it happen. Good luck with your bathroom project. Thanks for your comment about our bathroom remodel videos.
Eddie
Looks easy. Can you do pressure loops with PEX?
Nice close-up shots.
hammerdrill with a paddle bit. luv it
thanks for sharing, i love to install a multiple shower in a room like a car washer, so awesome,.
Air hammers are usually installed at the faucet end, tubs, showers, washing machine, etc. They help with any trapped air inside the lines. Keeps the lines from moving or bumping because of air. I see them everywhere here in homes but was wondering if I really needed to install them. Thanks for any info.
If your using a PEX water supply system...no they are not needed.
Excellent video....really cool guys 😊
awesome video. .answered alot of questions I had
Thanks again I'm glad to see the video its interesting and I take some this triks
Great video. You say it takes 5 minutes, but does that include putting on the pex female fittings that were already on before the video started?
I wish one video would cover how to set diverter valve distance to the edge of tile. My tile guy said 1 3/8 from diverter. If one gets it close can it be adjusted? I'm using a new delta shower only.
You know I did this once before & the problem on finish was after complete & the water was turned on, is then when I lifted the diverter on the tub spout, it continued to flow from the shower head & the spout as because the 1/2" pex rise to the shower head is actually a 3/8" inside dimension & without it's ability to flow freely, it's pressure made it come out both ends & I had to tear out all the concrete board & tile on that end that I'd already installed as for I was unable to get it from the back side. But I then installed a vertical 1/2" galvanized pipe with an elbow for the shower rise to the head. It then worked grate.
Oh by the way, THANKS for such awesome videos.
+Matt Angelo Your welcome Matt! Thanks for watching and subscribing to our channel.
Eddie
I have to weld for showers at work for subdivision homes. It would be amazing to use pex pipe instead.
Adán Martivela Yes it would! PEX is simply the best modern solution for plumbing fixtures across the board!
Eddie
If pex was to freeze, say your furnace went out while on vacation or what ever.pex will expand five times its diameter and then when it thaws out it will go back to its original state, no leaks . Where as copper if it freezes when it thaws you're definitely in for leaks. O ya, and being a plumber, it a breeze to install, verses copper.
I agree with the pex in , but there's to much restriction with 1/2" pex out of the valve . Ever looked at the inside diameter of a 1/2 pex fitting , not a lot of volume getting threw there .
I'd go 3/4" pex out of the valve , or 1/2" copper imo . But I'm just an amateur
Would love if you could explain the diverter used here and which model it is. I have seen some that will control 2 items and then you can operate both individually or both at same time. This setup here seams you would be able to operate 3 separately and I have not seen that capability anywhere.
Cool tips man
Really enjoy the video. Doing pex for the first time. Do I really need to put air hammers in baths, kitchen, etc? I noticed these guys are not using them. Thanks
mind explaining what an air hammer is?
Thank you so much
this is making me want to switch to PEX. As a DIYer its usually easier to go with what you know, but DAMN...
Yep...sweet stuff this PEX system! Cheap to purchase as well and damn good materials. We trust it 100% and it's all we use anymore.
Eddie
nail plates and start using uponor
Can you share the part numbers for the shower valve and diverter valve?
What model transfer valve are you using in this video? I'll be starting my bathroom remodel soon. Great video and thank you in advance!
if using crimp rings I sometimes squeeze the ring a small bit before putting it on the pex pipe this keeps the ring from slipping in those hard to crimp places
Yep I know what you mean Steve. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt getting the ring exactly where you need it before you do the final crimp! Just giving a little pressure on the ring before the final crimp makes the ring "stick" to the PEX line slightly and makes it easy to get the ring into final position much easier. Thanks for stopping by our Bathroom remodel Channel!

Good video. I'm just curious why showers are plumbed from the tub side of the wall? I had to repair a relatives shower plumbing and I had to rip out the surround sectional to access the faucet. Why not make it so the hardware can be removed from the other side of the wall?
It depends on the plumber who did the installation and the bathroom design having either a left-hand or a right-hand drain location on the plan. Best way to setup the shower valve location is to have it situated on an interior wall where you can have an access panel on the opposite side of the wall from the next room or closet so you can simply open the panel up and replace or repair the valve.
Eddie
I'm using body spray ,rain head, handheld,w delta r22000,ws.diverter..water shut off built in,cool video,,did you test w go nogo device?
On another video it was stated that PEX isn’t used in the larger and more expensive homes but is used in smaller, cheaper homes. Any basis for this or truth to it?
pexs may also be good because it wont rust like any metal...copper could turn into green ....good thinking....
Copper is corrosive and in time will leak at it's weakest link. PEX on the other-hand is non-corrosive and will stand the test of time.
Question, so after you put the tile up on the walls and it's finished, if you have a problem in the future and need to get in their to fix a pipe, or replace the rough in, how do you do it? take the tile down? Because the way you mounted everything it seems it would be hard to try to fix if you broke through the wall in the back, since everything would be on the other side of the wood. That's what I'm dealing with right now. thanx!
Great video guys! Maybe you can answer a question I have?
I've heard that you should not run PEX from the valve to the tub spout. Is this so? Why?
Plumbers say that the PEX has a bit smaller ID than copper and because of that, when you're running the tub, you'll get dripping from the shower. Apparently the valve can't pass the water to the tub as quickly as it wants and it backs up water to the shower head... I don't know. What do you say?
Hi Croy! Because the spout on the tub needs a "rigid" section of copper to mount to so it doesn't flop around on a section of very flexible PEX tubing.
Eddie
Great video as I'm getting ready to replace all my piping behind the shower walls. One question. What's the best way to secure pex pipe to existing copper pipping? Plan on just cutting all the old copper out behind the wall and piggy backing off the old lines coming into the bathroom.
Hi Rich! You would use the "push-on" style PEX fittings instead of the "crimp ring" style. These push-on's are awesome for going from standard old copper to PEX cross-over's.
Eddie
Yes they are Dexter. And...they pass code here in PA with no question. Not sure where you are located bu PEX Sharkbite "push-on" connections are acceptable inside closed walls in PA.
Hey guys, love your videos! Do you happen to know any tricks to getting a brass/brass connection to stop leaking? I bought a moen shower valve and the hot & cold pex lines connect to the valve with a brass adaptor. But it's slowly leaking...and I taped it too. Not sure what to do.
LOL Handy Andy
So, you're video is one of the first that I found that didn't use copy between the diverter and spout. I would rather go all PEX but I'm concerned that the three number 12 screws that I would use to mount the 90's (shower and tub spouts) isn't going to be strong enough. Some people suggested I run a small pipe from the 90 and then strap it to the board but I'm wondering if that might be over engineering and unnecessary.
Any thoughts?
SimmeringPotpourri Not needed, PEX it the whole way. We di sometime s do the tub spout in copper for a more rigid fit but not the shower head.
Eddie
put a piece of tape on each crimp ring so it dose not slide
waste of time, just give it a sight squeeze with pliers.
Great videos! I'm considering doing a rain shower head in my bathroom. Do i need to do anything extra to insulate around the pipe?
Dubrx 015 No...treat a rain shower head the same as any other shower head when plumbing it into position. No extra insulation is needed around this water line.
Eddie
You must have not have tightened these connection into the valve the entire way. These fittings do not leak if they are installed correctly. Even though you used Teflon tape, either you did not install your Teflon tape to the threads correctly or the fitting was not "tightened" into the valve well enough.
Eddie
My whole house is mostly galvanized steel. I wonder could pex tubing attach to it in my shower remodel?
+Trinity Washington Hello Trinity! Yes PEX can be used with metal studs...just use the pre-drilled hole in the center of the studs to run your PEX water lines.
Eddie
+Bathroom Remodel Videos Eddie, Galvanized is a type of plumbing pipe used in mid century homes. I think you misunderstood the question.
Yes you can definitely go from Galvanized to PEX water lines using the appropriate PEX "push-on" fittings Trinity. We do it a lot! Sorry I did misunderstand your question...thanks for clarifying!
Eddie
Thanks for responding
Your welcome Trinity...good luck with your bathroom project.
Eddie
copper will give more volume, as its larger inside diameter ,than pex
maybe the pexs are cost effective but I would use them for drains...
what are your thoughts on using pex behind a shower wall without easy access? wouldnt solder copper be better? just a homeowner here looking to do some remodeling, any help appreciated.
I have a question, On the plate that the valve and shower head is mounted on to, how far on the depth of the 2x4 do you go into the cavity for the wood plates?
Hey Mike...Man that really depends on the valve model, they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, we always follow the valves installation instructions on these units. The shower head we set the blocking so the drop-ear fitting is flush with the face of the 2" x 4" blocking.
Eddie
hey guys love your videos. how do you know how far out to mount your shower head from the wall
Keep the female drop-ear opening flush with the framing and screw a temporary 4" nipple into the female drop-ear so you know where to cut the opening in the drywall when you hang the drywall around the shower wall. Keep the temp in until you are finished painting the walls and then replace temp with the "real" shower head nipple assembly. Hope this helps.
Eddie
BathroomRemodelVideo perfect thanks so much
have tried to download the additional videos but just keep getting looped around to the sign-up page…what's up?
You need to sign-up to get the additional videos that's why you end up at the sign-up page! Thanks for stopping by our basement finishing channel.
Eddie
Thanks guys! Have you converted to Sharkbite push-on fittings or are you still crimping?
Both! We use a variety of the "push-on" fittings as well. We mostly use the Sharkbite push-on's to do the final tie-in's to the home existing water supply system, and this is normally the 1/2" "Tee" push-on fittings.

BathroomRemodelVideo I know Delta makes the Pex stems for the hot and cold water, but not for the shower and tub stems. Do you know anyone who does? Did you use pipe tape on those threaded fittings?
It it Delta Valve Trim? to Moen? Or just a Delta head
We have a concrete slab and the plumbing comes up from the slab. Bummer.
We need to move the water supply in the shower to enlarge it. Can we just abandon those and tap into the water for the sink? Or do you jack hammer into the slab to move the supply line?
No you don't need to jackhammer concrete to move water lines! Just tap and re-route from any hot and cold lines you have available.
Eddie
Be careful with just capping waterlines our code out this way won't pass a house if there are deadlines stagnant water can make people Ill if not worse.
Where did you get those screw-on fittings that connect the valve to PEX?
Home Depot Jeff.
Home Depot handyman plumbers. Yhey....... But thanks for the post.
I use pvc for as much as I can
What is the proper depth to mount the drop ear fitting (on the wood blocking) in the wall? Should it come out through the CBU or sit back deeper? Does it get a nipple attached to it or does the chrome shower arm go directly into the drop ear? Thanks.
3/4" for most fittings!
Eddie
Hello what type of thread sealant are you using?
+Bruce Hand Tefon tape on all metal threads it's still the best in my book!
Eddie
I am currently doing repipe. Do you get adequate pressure doing 1/2" to shower from manifold? It is shower only.
+Matt Angelo Yes...that is what most every shower is plumbed with from the manifold. You should have good pressure unless your main pressure is low, 3/4 is not going to make more pressure.
Eddie
+Bathroom Remodel Videos It does not make more pressure but will not restrict flow as much. With pex vs copper the pipe and fittings are actually a good bit smaller in diameter. You should go 3/4" to bathroom and tee off of that for appliances.
I went with 1/2 from manifold and am quite satisfied with volume and pressure. Thanks for your comment.
Awesome Matt! Your welcome.
Eddie
what are those pexs? why not use copper?
Should I run 3/4 to a tub or is 1/2 still ok?
+Matt Angelo 1/2" should provide plenty of flow as long as your branch is feeding only that bathroom
Matt Angelo per code in some places 3/4" pex must be run. stupid yes. code here says yes. 3/4" pex is 1/2" because the plastic fittins are under size.
moen is posi-temp
What brand is that three head shower fixture?
Delta
Thank you
What PEX tool(s) do you use and where do you get them....Some are very expensive.... What fitting brand do you use? Great vids
I use a simple PEX ring crimping tool and a PEX tube cutter tool both found at home depot in the PEX plumbing isle. Check them out here>>>> www.homedepot.com/p/SharkBite-1-2-in-and-3-4-in-Dual-PEX-Copper-Crimp-Ring-Tool-23251/202270489 (crimp tool) and www.homedepot.com/p/SharkBite-PEX-Pipe-Cutter-U701A/202685929 (Tube cutter)
Hi thank for the video you guys Fucking good I like
Muchas Gracias Fernando! Gracias por parar por nuestro canal de RUclips.
Eddie
i trust copper more!!!
copper is eternal!!!
This would be a lot easier if they would have pre fabricated some crimps.
Not sure what you mean JLL?
