- Walter Watson became a a Slauson member in 1959 after moving to Los Angeles from Bryant, Texas. He was a young man in his early 20s when the 1965 Watts Riots occurred. He also talks about his first visit to California State prison in December of 1965.
Talks about being in prison and prison guards killing blacks because of the relationship between the guards and black revolutionaries. George Jackson, Fleetah Drumgo and John Clutchette were the Solodad brothers charged with killing a prison guard after three of their friends were shot and killed by the prison guard,
In July of 1970, another prison guard, William Shull was killed, and the prison charged 7 prisoners including Walter Watson that were referred to as the Soledad 7. The other six were James Wagner, 24, Roosevelt Williams, 24, Walter Joe Watson, 25, Jesse Phillips, O.C. Allen, Alfred Dunn and Jimmie James.
Walter also talks about Hugo "Yogi" Pinnel, Comrade George Jackson, Bunchy Carter, H Rap Brown, Howard Toll and others.
