Exactly I also want tell this. Before pouring the hot bubbling water on the powder, it should be pressed firmly well inside the top container. Then only thick decoction is percolated. And another thing I noticed here is that. the filter should not be tapped for want of faster percolation. That leads to minute fall of coffee powder into the decoction which reduces the pleasantness of drinking coffee. Hence patience is required while making decoction for getting a richness of flavour in coffee.

You should put powder first and then the umbrella and press firmly. Top with boiling water water. Once it drains pour some more as per thickness . if done like this then you dont have to filter with cloth
