Wow, this was the MOTHER of all travel must haves videos. This covered all the secret good stuff that I have not seen in any of the other videos like it!
Yes ALWAYS place an apple tag hidden in your suitcase.. cuz it may be ..get lost for a bit! AND take a picture of your luggage and add a good identifying “color or object” that can easily be seen/spotted as well.. it helped a lot when ours was lost!
I wear those Dr. Scholl sneakers for teaching, and they’re perfect! I wore Skechers all through Italy last year, so I’m undecided as to which shoes I’ll bring to Croatia this summer. I love that little fan. It’s been a lifesaver on hot days. I live in New Orleans, so it gets very hot and humid here. This book has been out for a few years, but I highly recommend The Herd by Andrea Bartz if you haven’t read it yet. I’m not into mysteries or suspense, but I couldn’t put this one down.
Note~DO NOT use the Brita filter in 3rd world countries. It’s a filter, but not a purifier. The brita is safe only for countries with treated tap water.
If you’re still calling underdeveloped nations “third world” in 2024, PLEASE just stay in western Europe and North America where you don’t need to worry about water filtration or those horrible “third worlders” ruining your vacation.
I’ve not traveled out of the country but it’s on my Bucket List. You’ve taught me so much this time!!! Thank you again for all your hard work, Dana. It’s very much appreciated. If I get the chance to go, I could be packed and ready to go in no time!
So many good items!! I used a very similar neck pillow that wraps around your neck on my 12 hour flight to Rome a few years ago. It was very useful and comfy. Plus, it keeps you warm on a chilly plane. I bought my son the portable charger you linked for his recent trip to Japan. It worked great. Just a note to your viewers. The portable brick chargers must go in your carryon. They are not allowed in the belly of the airplane because they are combustible. Can’t wait to see your videos on your trip to Italy. Have a wonderful time with your mom!
As an Apple user, I’ve had their world adapter kit for years. Love how easy it is to travel with and just switch out the plug part for the country you are visiting.
It's so good! I wish I had discovered it way sooner since I've used apples for years as well. Like no one talks about this one and it's a good one that take out the hassle.
Most are missing some countries, I believe South Africa is one of those. We used my Kindle one of similar design, but now prefer the adapters that hold 2 plugs.
Thanks for this amazing list, have a fun and safe trip. We're headed for Rome, Venice, Florence, Zurich, Paris, and London, but not until Thanksgiving. I have a lot of time to buy these products and test them out. 🎉
I have that same samsonite bag and I travel all over the US with is in and out of a different hotel every night dragging it into truck stops and across gravel all the time. I’ve had it over a year and it still looks new
I just went to London,Rome then went on a 7 day Mediterranean cruise amazing…I’m taking my family to Dublin,Brussels ,Paris in November…I live in Florida so I like to visit Europe when it’s cooler…enjoy your summer Europe trip…❤
Great video! Hubby and I went to Italy for the first time in 2023. Oh My Heart!!! Going again in 2025. I got the Dr. Scholl's sneakers for the trip. Perfection! I absolutely love those shoes for walking around ancient cities. My only gripe with them is that they scuff so easily, and the scuffs don't wipe off easily. Do you have any suggestions? Also, definitely bringing Chomps...brilliant! Will be perusing all of your suggestions. Really wonderful advice on items that actually work well for Italy. Hope your trip is beyond amazing. Safe travels. 💖
I have a pair that I bought for London. I wore them shopping to break them in before I left. They killed my feet and I felt crippled! 🤷♀️ they didn’t work for me. I ended up buying Hoka sneakers and loved those!
Glad I came across your video. My husband and I will be traveling to Italy for 12 days at the end of August. We will be visiting multiple places while there. This video helped a lot. Any additional advice please let me know. Thanks!
Thanks for all of your videos! We are heading to The Amalfi Coast in 5 weeks! All your videos have provided ample information! ❤ scooping up the shoes, soap, and the water bottles and adapters, maybe the duffel! Thanx again ❤
I agree that the Dr. Scholl's sneakers are very comfortable. No breaking in is required. Wore them all over Paris last fall. The only negative, which has nothing to do with the brand, is the light colored sole. The soles on the side of the sneakers really show the dirt. The new shoe 'policy' now is darker soles only for trips that involve a lot of city street walking.
Great video. I'm doing an 11 nt cruise on the Celebrity Constellation to Italy/ Croatia leaving next Mon. Adding a 2 nt stay in Venice on the back end. Thank you for all your videos I've watched almost all of them 😊 Becky
Love your content @DanaBerez ! I am heading to Italy and France this summer. Do you think you will take your Birks again or a different sandal? I have a wide foot and it is hard to find a walking sandal for summer, I can't wait to see your posts of your next trip!
I love that you mentioned my favorite author Lisa Jewell. I’ve read every single book of hers. I have the cross body bag and highly recommend! Great vlog! ❤
This is seriously an awesome, amazing list. I have been watching other videos and they are good but the products may not be of interest to me, or they are too expensive. I loved what you showcased here. My dtr is going to Italy next week. She just showed me these Dr Scholl sneakers last night online. So funny. She is getting them. Hope you have a terrific trip!
Heading to Madrid and road tripping to Valencia and Barcelona. Then a 7 day cruise to Italy. I have the duffle, the charger, and the adapters from previous trips. Will look into the travel pillow. Thanks for your advice.
Hi Dana !! I will be traveling to Italy and Greece and part of my trip I will be on a cruise. I would like to know if you have any suggestions for a product that helps with wrinkles. You are not allowed irons or steamers on the cruise ships. I do not like to look all wrinkled. Thank you. This video was so helpful as always. Enjoy your trip to Europe.
Great video! The TRTL pillow is a must for overnight flights. Been using mine for years. What are your thoughts on sling bags in Europe? Some people say they are a no no because they scream that you’re a tourist but I brought mine to Europe last year because it’s so handy.
Thanks for sharing!! I loved it on my flight to Rome, I’ve been hesitant to buy it but so glad I did. My mom is wearing a sling bag and she loves it. It’s a bit touristy but you’re right they are so handy. I like a faux leather or leather in a neutral color.
Some good tips! A lot of these things I always travel with. Enjoy your trip to Europe! I will be heading to Italy and London next weekend…so excited! ❤
Some great tips. Love the outfits but worried about those wide legs for keeping off the ground while peeing. Customs always wants me to remove passport from holder - such a pain! But I do love it so you know where your passport is if lost - which happens all the dang time to peeps!
Hi! Yes, that is a valid concern, no need to wear wide legs if you don't want. I am pretty sure the brand also offers like a jogger style as well. The AirTag on a passport can definitely come in handy especially when travelling internationally, don't want to get stuck without a passport.
hello Danna, thank you for this very useful video for me because I travel to Europe regularly. I would like to know what size your Amazon V neck t-shirts are? I wear the same clothing sizes as you. Merci et Bon voyage. Barbara
I travel to Europe many many times in my life , and i never travel with curling irons, so many jewelry, and so much stuff OMG , my make is so simple when traveling 2 pairs of shoes, and very comfortable clothes too. But good luck in your travels, well bare in mind I was a flight attendant and I learn to travel for 6 days very light and practical.
I recently used the clear liquids bag and on my way back in Heathrow airport I was asked to put my liquids into one of their bags. So annoying. Had to small packet hand sanitizer bottles that had to be thrown away because they didn't git into their clear bag. One was in my purse and to throw it away. On my way to Milan no issue, it was coming back 😡. Not to mention I had to check in my carry-on going there and coming back even though there was space on the overhead.
Italy in Sept. I love your picks, the Brita bottle and neck pillow are going to be my first purchases. Have a great trip with your mom. Can’t wait to see the pics and what you end up wearing!
I love Chomps. However, is it legal to bring meat items through customs into Europe? If it’s not allowed and they find it, the fines could be expensive!
The filter you bring from home may not work in another city , let alone different continent/country , where the water is different. First you need to research what kind of water is where you going and then buy the filter that is closest to the functions for it. Better will be to look if the city where you going to have the filters for the bottle you use. Just as example: my city tap water is fine and you can drink if directly or with Number 1 filter. In another city that is like 200 km away here the water is harder and you actually need filter number 5 or 6 for it or is not drinkable.
Dana does it again! Another awesome video! Dana, wondering if you prefer soft side luggage to hard side? I believe I saw hard side in another video so I'm also wondering how do you decide when to use one or the other?
Thank you! I always prefer a hard side for checked luggage because they are out of your hands most of the time. For carry-on I have always used a soft side. I like to use soft side because I find that you can fit a lot more in them for carry on and they can expand if needed.
The shoes look great, but unfortunately I am not a fan of white shoes. I was in europe last year and I had black shoes and even they got dirty from some of our walks where there where a lot of dirt tracks. At least with the black ones it isn't as noticeable as with white ones
Thank you! I really hope so too! I will be traveling to new places this summer. But thank you for the comment. Fully aware of the fact that there are many places on that continent, as you put it. Nothing wrong with visiting the same country more than once and ACTUALLY getting to experience it in depth. I encourage you all to do the same in addition to trying new less iconic places ❤️
For everyone going to europe and especially "northern" europe, you don't really need any filter for the Tap Water. The Water has equal quality for tap and bottled water. I have been to the USA before and would rather not drink tap water there (for me it tastes really chemical), BUT there is literally no difference in taste and Quality in Europe. That Money is better spend in any restaurant or on Trips through the Countries. All major cities have drinking fountains, where you can fill up your bottle, with extra filters build into them. (even though they aint really necessary, cause it already comes out of the Pipes very clean)
To avoid a blister buy a small deodorant and put that on your heel. The deodorant protects the skin from the friction and saves you for even getting a blister then you don’t need the bandage
OK Dana. BOOKS, THRILLER. You must, must, MUST start reading Preston and Childs, with Special Agent Aloysius X. Pendergast!!! There's 20+ Pendergast books and if you LOVE to read and truly APPRECIATE most excellent writing, then Preston and Childs are a TOTAL MUST.
Traveling every other week. How can you not recommend the MZ Wallace for your carry on to go with your suitcase. I have tried them all and nothing holds up better and holds more - both of the bags are not that great that you recommended.
Is it on Amazon Tennis mom 3523? Did you read the title? This is for those interested in my recs from Amazon. I have that bag and that is a topic for a different video. Thank you so much.

Last year I read 50 books. A lot of them were thrillers and the one I would recommend is The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson.
The sequel to that is The Kind worth Saving. Also a very good read.
@@LindaOCNJ I did read that too but thought it was not as jaw dropping as the first one.

@@DanaBerez Thanks so much for the info and the prompt reply!! :)
The shoes look great, but unfortunately I am not a fan of white shoes. I was in europe last year and I had black shoes and even they got dirty from some of our walks where there where a lot of dirt tracks. At least with the black ones it isn't as noticeable as with white ones
Yes, shoes will get dirty especially with all those steps you will get in touring and walking around all day 😂
Excelente tips!!! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
We need a packing video
Stay tuned next week! Coming to the channel on Wednesday.
I cruise alot , I like ur ideas
Glad you like them!
I really hope you get to visit more places in Europe other than France and Italy. There are beautiful, albeit less iconic places in that continent.
Books, House in the Pines, Nine Perfect Strangers, and The Wife Upstairs.
I’m heading to Italy in 2 weeks. My goal is to pack only one backpack. I hate carrying luggage. My trip will be 11 days so I’m not taking much at all…
For everyone going to europe and especially "northern" europe, you don't really need any filter for the Tap Water.
Great job 👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Devil in the White City. A must read 🙂
I would not wear a Fannie pack. When I go to Europe, I wear my lugs crossbody with RFID protection so far, I have not had any problems.
Thanks for sharing!
Read anything by Lisa Gardner! She is amazing!❤
