    Those campanulas (bell flowers) are perennial for you! How nice! I love them too but they are annual in our colder Canadian zone.

      Thanks for watching, yes they are tough but would need to be a lot tougher to get through a cold Canadian winter.

    Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden. I watch your videos & write the names down of the plants that attract my eye, especially the palms, as I’ve been wondering what palms are hardy enough down here in the south east of England. Perhaps I’ll be lucky enough to have them in addition to my own garden as well 🙏🏼

    • @mywalledgarden
      @mywalledgarden  3 года назад

      Thank you very much. I am glad the videos are useful. If you are in the South East you will have a bit more heat than here so the hardy palms should thrive.

    Only just watching this video now - can’t wait for winter to be over! Just stopped to comment when you mentioned how badly your Californian Lilac had flowered. Mine too! I thought maybe it was my fault... maybe just the weather after all!

      hi, yes January just seemed to go on and on, It’s been really mild here though I hope we don’t get another late cold blast. The garden can be unpredictable at times but we have a tendency to think it’s down to us as to why something is not doing what it should.

    I enjoyed your lovely garden tour. I live in the USA, in NYS where temps can go down to -20°F and I regularly apply about 2”of wood chip mulch to the flower beds as added insulation for winter protection [as well as reducing water needs and soil enrichment).

    Always a highlight when I notice you’ve put up a new video. It’s lovely to see the progress of the plants through the year. I love the variety, the colours and textures. I’m after some hebes, so it’s really helpful to see the varieties that you have, and how they look. I always get some inspiration after seeing what you’ve tried.
    A pleasure to take a tour around your garden! Thanks

    Nice planting and collections of plants and trees... Just the way I like it... But I think... There are way TOO MANY strong plants planted way TOO CLOSE to the wall... Now they look good and beneficial to protect the young plants and trees... But in SOME YEARS guess the root systems... or the strong growing branches will bring troubles to the wall... Cause plants grow stronger and bigger and wilder if they feel good and seems it`s in that case...

    • @mywalledgarden
      @mywalledgarden  2 года назад +1

      Hi, Yes I am looking at a few that will need to be moved like the rhododendron and Cordyline. The palms should be ok as the rootball stays compact and the particular varieties have petioles that stay close to the trunk so can be kept narrow.

    For me, this is one of the most beautiful gardens I see on RUclips. That’s because I like shrubs. Your plants are so tidy, beautifully pruned and I love the colours together.
    I bought a miracle grow feeder attachment for my hosepipe so feeding gets easier for me. What fertiliser do you use and how often during summer?
    Congratulations on your garden, and thank you for sharing it with us.

    • @mywalledgarden
      @mywalledgarden  3 года назад +1

      Thank you very much. That’s one of the best compliments I have had. There are some amazing gardens on RUclips. I have fed the plants in spring and just this past week with bonemeal and general fertiliser. I have used Miracle grow bit I’m not fussy on the brand I use. I also use Palm Focus on the palm trees. One thing I have done for the past few years is save up the contents of used teabags and added it to the acid loving plants. This was a tip I found on the internet. We drink a fair bit of black tea so it’s surprising how much you get over time. I know people also use coffee granules which is even more acidic. I have tried to ensure the garden looks good all year round with eye catching shrubs that don’t rely on flowers for interest although the flowering shrubs I have look great in bloom.

      We have had a couple of really warm springs before this one so these plants had really bloomed maybe I am expecting too much of it. The bees love it, it is interesting the way different species focus on different flowers in the garden. Thanks for watching.
