Erik Logan, head of the Word Shame League, reminds me of the late Julio Grondona, who for years was the boss at Conmebol... while Erik has to follow the pressure of the world surfing market (doing everything so that Brazilian surfers don't won the world title for several years, consecutively), the Argentine Júlio Grondona did everything so that the Brazilian clubs could not win the Copa Libertadores (to the benefit of the Argentine clubs)... manipulating the arbitration, of course. In the last stage of the ranch, in California, this became evident... until when will surfing be hostage to the "subjectivity" (not to say interests) of the judges? Why were the criteria in relation to progressive and innovative surfing lowered? Brazilian surfers are the best at this (especially in aerial maneuvers), nowadays? Why aren't mechanisms created so that the subjectivity in the grades is as small as possible? Could it be that the "Pelé" in the history of surfing, Mr. Kelly Slater would you have the answers to these questions? Anyway, I still believe that the only way out for this evil to be nipped in the bud is the migration of all Brazilian surfers who are in the WSL to the ISA (or to a new league to be created, where no partial judgments, cowardice and hypocrisy exist) RIP Surf!

It seems that the archaic judges of the W$L do not appreciate Italo's unique and progressive surfing style, favoring instead a form of surfing stuck in the 1980s, rewarding maneuvers that have seen no innovation in the last 40 years while disregarding the innovative, much higher-risk moves. Brazilian surfers must refuse to be cowed by the authoritarian tactics reminiscent of North Korea that the World Surf League W$L employs.
Italo doesn’t have any flow, which is a big part of the criteria. He has huge airs & rides barrels well but isn’t very smooth between turns. Got nothing on Filipe, Gabriel, Ethan, Griff or Jack. He won’t win another title.
This is one of the guys trying to bully the judges and the other tour surfers. Pure evil.
