Happy 4th of July everyone! Hope you enjoyed this Thrift episode! If you wanna see more drop a like on the video! This helps me know you guys enjoyed the thrift videos so I can do more!! What’s your latest thrift find? Comment down below 👇🏼
The big lens you picked up at about 5:10 is a Tamron mirror lens! I have that exact one, they're vintage super long focal length lenses, a good condition one is super fun to use. It looks different because it uses the same lens design as space telescopes, which bounce light off of the back mirror to be able to achieve super long focal lengths in a compact format. I use mine on an APS-C Fuji XT2 to get to 750mm and I use it for moon photography! I recommend trying them out because they're super fun and have very unique ring bokeh too :)
The sure shot a1 is an amazing film camera! I’ve used the Panorama feature as my poor man’s X-Pan. Use it for festivals and street photography!Got lots of good and funny compliments such as if it was a little tikes cam to that it’s very unique camera
I've had some insane thrifting finds this year. Contax g1 w/ 35mm planar, Mamiya c330 kit and a cooke speed panchro cine lens. I go hunting everyday but still insanely lucky finds. I found a 35RC a few years ago and it's one of my favorite compacts ever! nice finds!
Yeah, lots of videos on Mirror lenses, Christopher Frost has several videos. I have one of these lenses and they can be fun to play around with. But I have not touched it in years.
Got a 35 RC a few months ago and it's an amazing little camera. The lens is really good (as most Zuiko lenses). It's normal for the focus ring to be pretty loose. Combined with a short throw, it's really good for street photography. Quick focusing !
I also got an A1 a few months ago. Its the perfect adventure film camera. Great for a back up camera or wet environments. It would be awesome to see your results with yours!
I just sold my Canon sure shot. solid camera. One thing to keep in mind. If the battery dies in the camera, there isn't any way to rewind the film. In my version anyways and mine would drain the battery in a day if I left it in the camera.
Reminds me when I first moved and sought out the local thrift stores. Ended up getting a working Yashica T3D for $3. Flash forward to last year, I ended up with a Nikon F3 kit with 4 lenses, and a bonus roll holster strap for $270. I‘ve since picked up a motor drive for it and intend on sending it in for a proper CLA sometime this summer.
I have the Canon WP-1 that I picked up at a camera swap meet for $80. Mine is the weatherproof version but it looks identical. I've taken it underwater plenty of times with no leaks. Once you practice and get the subject distance right it takes cool photos. I take it paddleboarding and use it in the springs here in Florida with Portra 800.
The thing about that Tamron mirror lens is that it can be adapted to nearly any 35mm film camera and some digital cameras just by changing the Adaptall 2 mount. If you can get it cheap enough with their discounts, say $50, it might be worth picking up. It is a fixed, f8 aperture so it needs to be fairly bright out. Relative to other 500mm lenses, it is compact. Take a look online and you can find examples of photos taken with the lens. Its not that sharp but it will get shots you'd miss without a long lens. A tripod is preferred because it is such a long focal length and vibration can be a factor.
It’s a shame that Electro 35 was broken, they are truly incredible rangefinders. I have one I’ve named Jackie I carry everywhere. The camera is gorgeous, aperture priority is great, the meter never misses, and the lens is Leica level of quality. If you see one for a good price that’s working I highly recommend it.
That 500mm is a mirror lens. I have never found one that is particularly sharp. They are compact for the focal length. A lot of brand name companies made them like Canon, Minolta, and Nikon. The third party lenses are usually of poor quality.
Love your thrift find videos bro . Also does anybody know where i could find this thriftstores so i could find me a gem like those ? Going to be in the San Francisco area soon so I'll like to go 😊
I just found a word-1 for $40 Australian $$ which about $25usd . It doesn’t like movement . Just make sure whatever you’re taking pics off isn’t moving
500mm either at f/4 or f/8 those are for look at the stars especially the moon on a good clear night. It’s like having a telescope at arm reach. Hard market to sell or find anyone who would use it. Not for day use that for sure, too much heat vapor in the photos.
So cool! I just looked that up, he used the version I have, the WP-1. I've only been using it for underwater shots but I'll have to try shooting street with it.
I've come across two or three of those Canons thrift g but I've only taken one home. Otherwise film cameras have really dried up here... unless so.eobe else is getting them.
those 500m lenses are called mirror lenses. im not sure how they work, but basically its just a much shorter version of those cheap 500mm bower telescope lenses you see at garage sales.
Thrift stores have gotten smart with film cameras. They are pricing them way too high. Even the ones that don't work. But wherever you went did have great selections.
yo be careful wit that canon, the seals usually go bad since these cameras are from the 90s. i took a perfectly working one to jamaica and water got it in 😂😂😂
You might want to check the light seals on the RC before you shoot it, looks a little suspect. Also check the battery on the Canon to make sure there is no corrosion and it has a full charge.
I once found two Leica M6 ttl at the bin in a thrift store, the owner wanted to throw them out, i had to beg him, he literally gave it to me for free, after that the whole thrift store clapped!
EcoThrift be taxing lol worst than Etsy sellers who don’t test their camera before selling them. Bay Area film thrifting has been really bad, for those prices I rather support local camera stores like SeaWood at least they have warranty.
The biggest clown moment, why I LOVE this channel...The guy "loves analog" yet doesn't know he came across a large format color enlarger. Love to see it. Then he opens the back and pulls all of the film, not knowing only 3 of the images are likely affected. I'd have developed them just to see who took photos of what. This guy is a walking circus.
Broke my heart you just ripped out the rest of that roll of film. Only 3 shots were affected. plus how u not seeing a roll of film in the camera and not just rewinding…?
I’m in the Bay Area and was trying to figure out where the hell you were. Thanks for prominently displaying those price tags - I’ve never been there before.
So you went by a Chromega E, and just casualy walked away. I'm starting to doubt most of the "Film" RUclipsrs knowledge about photography. Why do you even shoot film, if you don't print your photos. And I mean proper optical printing, not some hybrid workflow for which none of you even have the proper equipment i.e. a drum scanner.

The front element was a give away, it looks the same as in mirror telescopes.
I have one of this too!! With adaptall for canon fd
i have the same and use it sometimes for portraits, because they have superfun bokeh, and shooting a closeup portrait from 7meters aways is just fun
Damn! That was an enlarger, looked like an Omega D2 which is one of my favorites because it does 4x5 and has a color head.
The sure shot a1 is an amazing film camera! I’ve used the Panorama feature as my poor man’s X-Pan. Use it for festivals and street photography!Got lots of good and funny compliments such as if it was a little tikes cam to that it’s very unique camera
That SureShot A1 is the perfect summertime/beach camera and that Olympus is immaculate!

5:05 these are mirror tele lenses. they magnify the scene by mirrors rather than normal lenses with glass elements.
Yeah, lots of videos on Mirror lenses, Christopher Frost has several videos. I have one of these lenses and they can be fun to play around with. But I have not touched it in years.

i have the olympus 35 rc to and its a great camera, the only downside is the thin aperturering but in automode its not that bad.
I have a 600mm lens with mirrors like that for minolta, and there is a 1000mm too. 5:00
Mirror telephoto! I used to have a Vivitar one, looked just like that. Very light!
I also got an A1 a few months ago. Its the perfect adventure film camera. Great for a back up camera or wet environments. It would be awesome to see your results with yours!
I got a Pentax IQZoom EZY-r for $10 at a thrift store in Georgia and got some nice images out of it! Solid little camera.
I do thrift stores every now and again looking just for cameras. Sometimes I even get really lucky. I love your videos.
what's that light meter that you put on the olympus? Doesn't look like a Voigtlander
I just sold my Canon sure shot. solid camera. One thing to keep in mind. If the battery dies in the camera, there isn't any way to rewind the film. In my version anyways and mine would drain the battery in a day if I left it in the camera.

absolutly LOVE your videos! keep posting because your content is great!
ooooh the first one in the big yellow bag, the minolta camera, is exactly the one I own ahah
LMAO that was an enlarger, a massive one too, and it was for color printing mostly
Haven’t saw it yet but know it will be amazingggg 😍😍
I found that same underwater sure shot but it was in the kids section grabbed it for 4.99! Very thankful for that toy appearance
I’ve had 3 of that SureShot A1 and two of them had cracks in the closure, rendering them pretty useless. They weren’t repairable.

That 500mm is a mirror lens. They can produce great pics if you nail focus and focus is not easy to nail.
5:05 Funny how you found one. the indonesian man who gave my his camera stuff had this once but it was missing alongside the x700 and the Leica
99 cruising? Maybe I’ll bump into you one day thrifting! Love the vids man!
I confirm, the electro 35 are always broken! Got one that worked once and it lasted 2 rolls.
Awesome, really like these!
Found a voigtlander bessa ii, very lucky!
Get out! That’s awesome!
@@daniellefernandes8423 haha and it was 15 euros 👀
Just gave a canon sureshot wp to my friend for a camping trip! Its the weather resistant version commonly mistaken as waterproof!
Cool Video as always. Nice finds. By the way, where do you find your background music. It’s sweet.
is this thrift store in the Bay Area as well?
Is that "Stay With Me" I hear playing in the car?
were u playing Touch Me by The Doors by any chance when u found the keyboard lol
How did you know 😂😂
@@KingJvpes I play piano and that was one of the first songs I learned 😂
I picked up that same canon for $10 at my thrift store! It was great

Nice photo enlarger
Canon WP-1 owners! does anyone know where to get a replacement plastic piece (the one that always breaks) for under $40 in the states?
I love these thrifting videos so much 😅
That 500mm is a mirror lens. I have never found one that is particularly sharp. They are compact for the focal length. A lot of brand name companies made them like Canon, Minolta, and Nikon. The third party lenses are usually of poor quality.
Hey you guys, what light meter does he use?
Voightlander, there’s a link under the video.
@@aprilpaddock8455 Thank you for the tip! :)

That Omega enlarger was MINT, should have grabbed it!
Mirror telephoto lens. They are compact which is nice but usually not that sharp.
Man at least your thrift stores carry cameras. Mine barely have anything good. I have been scoring digital cameras
That Canon underwater was famous Fred Herzog weapon of choice ...
So cool! I just looked that up, he used the version I have, the WP-1. I've only been using it for underwater shots but I'll have to try shooting street with it.

Amazing as usual
Thank you 🙏🏽
35RC's are nice. $45 is a steal if it's working.
those 500m lenses are called mirror lenses. im not sure how they work, but basically its just a much shorter version of those cheap 500mm bower telescope lenses you see at garage sales.

oh it's 1 of those donut bokeh lens
yo be careful wit that canon,
the seals usually go bad since these cameras are from the 90s.
i took a perfectly working one to jamaica and water got it in 😂😂😂
This is a little different but I just picked up a old rca dsp3 for $11 with everything the camera originally came with and it worked😂
The Olympus is dope af!
I got mine some time back for $10.99.
I was just at that last thrift store a week ago and it was a bust
You might want to check the light seals on the RC before you shoot it, looks a little suspect.
Also check the battery on the Canon to make sure there is no corrosion and it has a full charge.
How could you leave without the SRT !!!
i used to have a olympus 35 that i got for 2$ at a warehouse sale but i sold it before the film craze popped off.
It's a mirror lens. They have weird bokeh but they have a pretty decent range in a small body
I once found two Leica M6 ttl at the bin in a thrift store, the owner wanted to throw them out, i had to beg him, he literally gave it to me for free, after that the whole thrift store clapped!
#MinoltaGang lessgoooo

Your mate looks like she is as bored as hell lol
I just realize some of your words when you are talking to sales lady, you are talking in tagalog, are you pinoy?
every thrift store you went to was mad pricey. wtf...
Broke my heart you just ripped out the rest of that roll of film. Only 3 shots were affected. plus how u not seeing a roll of film in the camera and not just rewinding…?
thrifting in my city is dead 😮💨 people caught on
thats a catadiorptric lens a CAT
She doesn’t look like she is enjoying the thrift shopping
My eyes hurt.. Please, teach this woman how to focus :)
Isn’t that big lens like a dental lens?
I’m in the Bay Area and was trying to figure out where the hell you were. Thanks for prominently displaying those price tags - I’ve never been there before.
And just like that, thrifting became even more difficult because now all the clowns will go clear it out.

I was surprised that he didnt know, but why do you have to be so rude about that ?

Guys, I found a Mamiya U with the shutter button stuck; can it be fixed? I payed for it 5 euros 🥲
