Usually after that conversation I'll read some news because I realize I don't know anything and I'm just assuming what's going on

When i finally decide to close reddit on my laptop and go to sleep I usually immediately open it on my phone and stay up for another hour. I have literally no control anymore.
I'm starting to break away from reddit, I don't have it on my phone anymore. so when I'm off my computer, I don't look at it again sometimes multiple days at at a time. When you named the reddit user symptoms at the end, the only things I can say I've really done , even in the thick of my interest with reddit is like dragon ball, worked in IT, built a computer, I have anxiety and depression but I'm working on it with therapy and exercise, some of my real life conservations started that way but not all. I think the biggest reason I broke away from reddit is realizing I couldn't think for myself anymore. I would go asking questions on there all the time or looking up answers to what people would do in certain situations, I would read other comments before coming up with my own comments because I eventually couldn't come up with my own and I just depended on it a lot instead of experiencing things for myself and learning from it. As I read this aloud in my head, I can see why people call it a hive mind. People just endlessly agreeing with each other and virtue signaling, then stampeding on others or anything they don't like, people get aggressively more and more angry when they see someone is already being berated for saying something against interest or people seeking attention or instigating drama because they've come up with problems in their own head. I use to use it as a tool, if I was having a computer issue or need help with a technical issue in general, it offered solutions and feedback for you to try. The main problem comes from when you start using it for personal problems or seeking comfort/acceptance within it. I'm trying to go back to when I used it as a tool and so far I've felt better and I'm losing weight, thank god.
"Police Officers of reddit....." Redditors: well I'm not a police officer but my grandfather's second cousin twice removed ex wife's stepbrother's uncle.....
Yeah, that’s what I do. My experience on Reddit has been actually very good, but that’s probably because I don’t really use the massive subreddits, only the much smaller ones.
I used reddit for several months, and i assure you that i lost half of my braincells in the process, never felt better quiting that hellhole of close-minded people who think they're always better and smarter than everyone else for extremely absurd things.
@@heysiri_official i completely quit it because i legit couldn't handle how many retards were on that platform, i only use it when searching for something nish
You're definitely not the first person I've seen say this about Reddit, but my experience has been quite different. Obviously those people exist on Reddit, but they are on all Social Media. To me, Twitter (or X, I guess) is probably the worst of the social media I use, and turning off my notifications for that and vastly cutting down on my time there to the point I barely get on it felt as good as you are saying cutting out Reddit felt to you. I have also found people in the comments of public Facebook posts to be much worse, on average, than Redditors, which is kind of weird since on Facebook you aren't anonymous. I've gotten into debates and arguments with people on Reddit, but have also found a lot of people to be kind, understanding, and to have a desire to help if they can. It's become my favorite social media site for this reason.
Reddit Explained: 1. The best place for circlejerk people 2. Having different opinion = downvote 3. Having different opinion = moderator ban you from the sub 4. Saying truth = downvote 5. Making jokes = downvote
@@interbeamproductions It's where people agree with each other. Social media and society as a whole are like this, but certain platforms are better than others at congregating people with the same opinions together, and reddit is excellent at that. The whole userbase isn't a monolith, but individual subreddits tend to be full of people who see the world similarly and those who aren't the same are downvoted and made less visible because of that. The problem with a circlejerk is it allows opinions to stay unrefined, most commonly would be individuals agreeing with the group for reasons the group doesn't necessarily agree with but doesn't voice since they're on the same team, or the corollary, an individual agreeing with a group because they view the group a specific way due to them all being on the same side, but not the same page.
And where people think that they are so smart than everyone else in the world or on reddit and try to explain a small and simple thing in many difficult words and so many words making it more complicated to understand so that they can sound so smart

Reddit is like pinterest. Once you find what you're looking for, you begin a viscous cycle of scrolling and clicking through mildly interesting and wholly irrelevant things to the reason you had gone on in the first place.
You're never banned for saying something like "this sub sucks" but usually banned for saying something like "this sub is filled with simps, incels, etc."
Karma is so dumb. Redditors just farm it and repost the same joke over and over again... Once someone posts something they don't "like" they immediately comment on how this post effected their way of life and how it harmed them to see it.
You should see r/cryptocurrency where there is not only farming but meta farming since karma are called moons and are their own crypto worth money. I expect all of Reddit might do that soon. Edit: by meta I mean posts about moons, strategic commenting or downvoting or blaming others of moon farming etc…

As a reddit moderator, you should be banned for directly referencing nsfw content without at least tagging it, especially on a comment section where kids would likely be. It's because it can be a very toxic place where people feel ashamed to share differing opinions and end up deleting their content as soon as it starts turning sour because it will keep getting worse and affect your overall score on the site as a whole. You can then get banned for no good reason at all and have to ask for them to let you in again. This all adds up to people deleting their accounts or just leaving them inactive.
I personally thought it was a neat site until BLM and George Floyd started to take off. It got really toxic for me and so I left. I have since come back and seen that they are purging subreddits because of their political views and their new TOS protects minorities from jokes being made about them, but the majority is fair game. Basically straight white males are fair game, but everyone else needs to be respected. The site has basically become Tumblr and Twitter.
Google the reddit post clicky is it set in the old format which is useable for regular human beings or the new format for some ungodly reason? remove www, replace with "old" in the Url. Every time.
"r/aww is where you post a picture of the kitten you rescued from the side of the road after you flew to Hong Kong and saved it from the tyranny of Activision Blizzard." That aged pretty well.
I just appreciate Reddit for how easy it is to find niche content using sub-Reddits, such as R/math, R/Teachers, or R/programming. While I have minimal experience with Discord, I don't doubt it is a similar story with Discord servers.

@@lusciouslocks8790 I'm basically saying that they encourage porn, being childless, that kinda stuff you see on liberal media. I myself am a liberal and the projection of all of this animosity toward anyone who disagrees with them on either of those topics makes me infuriated. The reason I think porn is a horrible thing to encourage is that I know a good parent wouldn't allow their child to become a pornstar, and if it wasn't for all of this encouragement they would speak out against that line of work, I have dozens of more reasons but family issues are a big part of it, it's like they don't fucking care what their family wants from them.
Very interesting perspective. I will probably do the same

There is one rule on reddit as I found:
Everyone's an expert, except the experts.

Reddit Explained:
1. The best place for circlejerk people
2. Having different opinion = downvote
3. Having different opinion = moderator ban you from the sub
4. Saying truth = downvote
5. Making jokes = downvote
what's a circlejerk?
@@interbeamproductions
It's where people agree with each other.

Reddit: place where you’re so afraid of losing karma that you don’t even have your own opinion unless it’s a sub that fits your narrative

That's what you actually use your karma for: to have an unpopular opinion

Reddit, the biggest circlejerk experiment to ever exist
I don't mind most of the shit they do, except the part where they encourage people to whore themselves out when they want to, and the advocating of violence for trump supporters. Not to confuse my opinion though cuz they are still the most disgusting social media yet.
@@xxxfaze_cumshotxxx7946 just wanted to add that I agree most subreddits are bad. And I would say more than half the website is porn. There are also some smaller communities on there that are the reason I use the app. What am trying to say is not All is shit, most of it is.
Jenkinz Jizzburger how do you define “whore themselves out”? What exactly you mean would change my response to this
@@lusciouslocks8790 I'm basically saying that they encourage porn, being childless, that kinda stuff you see on liberal media. I'm starting to wonder if Redditors even know you don't have to be a pathetic sad piece of shit in life for you to survive.
