You should come to Nebraska Star Party next month! Great people that make it feel like a family vacation! And the darkest skies on continental US!

You both articulated more information on the hobby, equipment and expectations in 30 minutes than I have heard from watching hours of videos. Adam and I have the same mindset to equipment choices and live in the same area close to intense light pollution in Manhattan. I am now just starting to go to dark sites and enjoying the hobby more. Excellent video and hope to speak to you again at NEAF next year.

Chonker scope, dude has to be cruising with a race car trailer full of gear. I live at 7k feet in a mostly dry climate in the winter so I'm excited to see soonish what I can do, settling on a setup.

I looked for a new Stellarview 90mm, but I couldn’t find anything. I might get a WO gt81 wifd. Maybe a Borg 107 cf. I am using a am5 mount and tripod combo.

I am a backyard astronomer. Who has been to no telling how many hundred star parties. Member of a major club for 26 years.
Anyway If there is any place in the world I could go on vacation. I would go to a Cherry Springs Star Party.

Some really good objects the sky during that party. Greater chance of clear night and the nights are longe.

Definition of utter madness combined with masochism: Setting up your gear for imaging at a Star Party! Sheesh!

Adam actually spends a lot of time at the scopes of visual observers. And so do I. With astrophotography everything is automated. I set the gear up, polar align which takes 5min or less then spend the rest of the night with my binoculars or at someone monster dob.

@@TheNarrowbandChannel I understand the biggest hurdle is getting the mount pointed close enough to the NCP so that plate solving can fine tune the azimuth and altitude settings.

Keep in mind the star party was only 3 nights of my 8 night camping trip, so the rigs were already setup prior to the masses showing up. Light pollution by attendees is slim to none at Cherry Springs due to the strict LP rules. Setting up sure does take quite some time though!
