I really love the fact that Mackenzie and Maci are taking the initiative to take their kids to therapy. Childhood trauma affects you for the rest of your life so it’s great that the kids are getting help at an early age. Leah should probably also start going too, to help her deal with the abandonment and neglect she experienced from Amber.

Early intervention is always better. It’s better to take your child to therapy and them not need it instead of not taking them and then they struggle because they should have had it

See I agree with everything you’ve said.. minus the ‘Amber is an awful mother’ part. I don’t think she is. I think she’s someone who doesn’t know *how* to be a mother because as you’ve rightly said - she’s never had that correct loving upbringing from her own to understand what direction to take & how to create that bond with Leah. Very few people understand the complexities of trauma & mental health, & the impact that has on many individuals later on in life. I’m not saying she shouldn’t have got help & direction sooner, or excusing her consistently poor behaviour, but I can understand the road she has taken from an outsiders perspective, & I think Leah will too when she’s older. I think her Dad has broken that cycle for her though, I don’t think she’ll continue in Ambers footsteps like Amber did in her own parents.

My mother is another person that probably shouldn't have had children and I, like @Sydney Merrick finally understood later in life the extent to which my mom experienced trauma and wasn't able to heal and therefore wasn't able to really love me and I still love her. That doesn't change anything. Amber, like my mom, isn't an awful person. But they are awful mothers. They are people that should have healed before reproducing. they are people that perpetuated unhealthy cycles and created problems. But they are the children of God, deserving of love and respect. Personally, I need to call it like it is. I love my mom but I stay away. If you don't recognize awful, you might accept it a little too long.

I've watched Teen Mom from the start and Watching their lives now is crazy. We need to seriously teach our youth about sex, contraception, and what a healthy relationship is supposed to look like. Be smart protect your self young girls. Life is hard at any age, don't drag your babies through the mud.
Although coming from a real life teen mom the lifestyles the teen moms live aren’t the real lives of young parents ... they live in big fancy homes..move house all the time .. go on expensive vacations and drive around in expensive cars .. meanwhile most teen moms don’t even know how their money is gonna stretch far enough to pay the bills...
That's how I was postpartum. Very emotional after giving birth for at least a month. Crying randomly over anything, even because 'I love him so much!' No clue why I was so emotional and upset.
This shows as the kids get older & learn more about the truth things change. Watching Amber abuse Gary & literally sit on the couch while Leah played in the corner, her daughter remembers that. Plus who knows what kids have said at school over the years to her. Bentley is also seeing that too in Ryan. Some kids want nothing to do with the parents that dont give them the time of day. Yet act all entitled when Child Support comes into play or when they realize what kind of parent they are....
I could find sympathy for Amber if she PROVED she really was sorry and wanted to be there for her daughter. If she doesn’t know how to be a mom, get off the couch, get to a therapist and find some parenting classes and LEARN to be a mom, for James too. She was a mom as a teenager, that’s hard on anyone but at some point you have to take responsibility and realize YOUR actions are why Leah is so traumatized. Work hard and fix it. Don’t just sit there and play the “woe is me” card and do absolutely nothing. I’d give my last breath for my son

Amber is an addict who had a horrible upbringing. She has to accept that she doesn't know how to be a mother, and her children are better off with other people. I don't doubt she loves her children, but she needs to some serious psychological and emotional healing before she can even be in their lives.
It's so nice & refreshing to see Maci with such an amazing guy who treats her like a queen and protects & cares for Bentley like his own and actually talks with Maci about Ryan and helps her figure things out without pulling her decisions and choices in one direction or another and helps her work things out & figure out what's best for b while still let him make decisions!! I think amber is right in giving her space at this point. Its just up to amber to continue showing love from a distance and hoping someday her Leah will be old enough to understand and forgive but not forget. People make a lot of mistakes excusable and unexcusable but it doesn't mean there can't be a loving healthy bond between the two in the future. Better late than never. She assaulted her son's father with a machete so he has custody and does not allow himself or his son to be filmed. Gary has custody of Leah and Leah doesn't want to see her mom, so Amber took her son over to Gary's to see Leah.
Honestly, and I know y'all are gna come for me BUT if you put yourself in Bentley's shoes I think he feels torn. I think he doesn't want to upset either side of his family. Thats just way too much pressure for a kid his age. I feel for him.
Taylor is a great stepdad but I don’t think he should have any say in whether Bentley and Ryan go to joint therapy. They’ll be there with a professional and only for the session. If Ryan actually wants to do that, no one should be discouraging it. It’s clear to me that Bentley does want a relationship with his dad. I’d Ryan is high out of his mind no therapist is going to see him. If anything they’d probably stage an intervention. So, I understand he doesn’t feel comfortable having Bentley around Ryan one on one but I’m the context of a therapy session I don’t think that should be banned. Bentley has asked himself for this.

I don’t think people should shame her but I do think it’s time for her to maybe take a step back evaluate some of her behavior, decisions, choices and take accountability. She also needs to accept and recognize that Leahs feelings are valid and respect that weather she agrees or not. She is the parent so she needs to act like one. Put Leah first and meet her where she is now let her heal then try to move forward with Leah in a positive way that is comfortable for her little girl.
I hate to see the relationship of Amber and her daughter Leah like it is, but I really do hope everything does change. I understand Amber has been through a lot, but so has Leah and I am glad Gary and Kristina see that and don’t push Leah to go hang out with her mother because it maker her uncomfortable. Macy hired the therapist and they should let her do her job and if she decides to bring his father in a drug test shouldn’t be required because what’s going to happen is when Bentley gets older he will be resentful for them keeping his father away . You can tell just how protective Taylor is of Bentley, he sees him as his own and doesn’t want him to be potentially hurt by Ryan.
At the end of the day Bentley is Ryan's son and it is not Taylor's place to question him getting a drug test

It’s extremely clear that amber has some DEEP emotional/physical trauma, that I think I’m safe to assume stems from childhood. I’m not defending her actions, bc I think she’s an awful mom. HOWEVER, in her own might & will she’s doing the best job that she can. I know this bc my mom is like amber, and it took me till my 30’s to realize my mom couldn’t love me and treat me the way I deserved because she didn’t know how to
See I agree with everything you’ve said.. minus the ‘Amber is an awful mother’ part. I don’t think she is. I think she’s someone who doesn’t know *how* to be a mother because as you’ve rightly said - she’s never had that correct loving upbringing from her own to understand what direction to take & how to create that bond with Leah. Very few people understand the complexities of trauma & mental health, & the impact that has on many individuals later on in life.
I’m not saying she shouldn’t have got help & direction sooner, or excusing her consistently poor behaviour, but I can understand the road she has taken from an outsiders perspective, & I think Leah will too when she’s older. I think her Dad has broken that cycle for her though, I don’t think she’ll continue in Ambers footsteps like Amber did in her own parents.

My mother is another person that probably shouldn't have had children and I, like @Sydney Merrick finally understood later in life the extent to which my mom experienced trauma and wasn't able to heal and therefore wasn't able to really love me and I still love her. That doesn't change anything. Amber, like my mom, isn't an awful person. But they are awful mothers. They are people that should have healed before reproducing. they are people that perpetuated unhealthy cycles and created problems. But they are the children of God, deserving of love and respect. Personally, I need to call it like it is. I love my mom but I stay away. If you don't recognize awful, you might accept it a little too long.

I've watched Teen Mom from the start and Watching their lives now is crazy. We need to seriously teach our youth about sex, contraception, and what a healthy relationship is supposed to look like. That's how I was postpartum. Very emotional after giving birth for at least a month. Crying randomly over anything, even because 'I love him so much!' No clue why I was so emotional and upset.
This shows as the kids get older & learn more about the truth things change. Watching Amber abuse Gary & literally sit on the couch while Leah played in the corner, her daughter remembers that. Plus who knows what kids have said at school over the years to her. Bentley is also seeing that too in Ryan. Some kids want nothing to do with the parents that dont give them the time of day. Yet act all entitled when Child Support comes into play or when they realize what kind of parent they are....

I could find sympathy for Amber if she PROVED she really was sorry and wanted to be there for her daughter. If she doesn’t know how to be a mom, get off the couch, get to a therapist and find some parenting classes and LEARN to be a mom, for James too. She was a mom as a teenager, that’s hard on anyone but at some point you have to take responsibility and realize YOUR actions are why Leah is so traumatized. Work hard and fix it. Don’t just sit there and play the “woe is me” card and do absolutely nothing. I’d give my last breath for my son
I hope when ryan and his wife see these bits and flicks they realize what bholes they were for thinking the negative crap they think about maci, all she wants is a good upbringing for her son. Nothing wrong with that.

Amber is an addict who had a horrible upbringing. She has to accept that she doesn't know how to be a mother, and her children are better off with other people. I don't doubt she loves her children, but she needs to some serious psychological and emotional healing before she can even be in their lives.

People make a lot of mistakes excusable and unexcusable but it doesn't mean there can't be a loving healthy bond between the two in the future. Better late than never. Taylor is a great stepdad but I don’t think he should have any say in whether Bentley and Ryan go to joint therapy. They’ll be there with a professional and only for the session. If Ryan actually wants to do that, no one should be discouraging it. It’s clear to me that Bentley does want a relationship with his dad. I’d Ryan is high out of his mind no therapist is going to see him. If anything they’d probably stage an intervention. So, I understand he doesn’t feel comfortable having Bentley around Ryan one on one but I’m the context of a therapy session I don’t think that should be banned. Bentley has asked himself for this.

I don’t think people should shame her but I do think it’s time for her to maybe take a step back evaluate some of her behavior, decisions, choices and take accountability. She also needs to accept and recognize that Leahs feelings are valid and respect that weather she agrees or not. She is the parent so she needs to act like one. Put Leah first and meet her where she is now let her heal then try to move forward with Leah in a positive way that is comfortable for her little girl.

I hate to see the relationship of Amber and her daughter Leah like it is, but I really do hope everything does change. I understand Amber has been through a lot, but so has Leah and I am glad Gary and Kristina see that and don’t push Leah to go hang out with her mother because it maker her uncomfortable. But I also like the fact that Gary and Kristina are like she is still your mother, but at the end of the day I want Amber to understand it is gonna take a minute to get back everything with Leah after what’s she has been through. I just want her to keep showing her she has changed and hopefully Leah will come around. For now all Amber can do is try to get that relationship back. I really do want to feel bad for Amber, but for some reason I can’t...I’m not sure why.
