- Sourdough/The Miner's Song is about the 1899 Alaska/Nome Gold Rush and was recorded by Bill Staines in 1985.
In 1899, gold was found in the beach sands for dozens of miles along the western coast of Alaska. Thousands poured into Alaska from the ports of Seattle and San Francisco and came from as far away as Adelaide, Australia. By 1900, a city of tents on the shoreline stretched for 30 miles.

Great song, I'm actually moving up to the Yukon/Alaska Area to work in a gold mine in the spring
Human behaviour to flock somewhere when some guy finds a sliver of gold in the river will always confuse me.
Well,aleska
