These Heavy Haulers were for relatively short drags, of oil, coal, ore, etc, from port or refinery to Marshalling yards, other user facilities, etc. In Europe, rail density is much higher than USA. In USA, Interchange services were also done by 0-8-8-0 tender engines, and other similar heavy 0-8-0 and 0-10-0 and so on...they had sort runs, and could water and recoal between runs ( eg Indiana Harbour Belt etc ).

Nein soweit ich weiß gibt es leider keine betriebsfähige Baureihe 96 mehr.
