I've purchased and fitted exactly the same vanguard kit a couple of days ago and can't believe how good it works, something which also needs to be mentioned if the vehicle is involved in a slow movement collision whilst parked the alarm will draw attention. I'm 100% happy with the purchase and importantly with the owner of the company.
Regarding Bikes on a carrier. Loop a flexible "Chain" through the rear door handle then around the bikes. It doesn't even need to be that "strong", just enough to rattle the handle if pulled.
I’ve been saving for vanguardian for ages. Since I’m a single female on the road and also my van is my home, I could replace it and as you rightly say it’s a violation of your home. People always think it won’t happen to them, I can’t afford to wait until that happens!
We have had ours fitted to our van for a year now and it's been excellent. It even prevented us being the victim of a hit and run when the van was reversed into and damaged when it was parked and unattended in a car park in Austria. We were nearby and when the Van Guardian alarm went off we managed to stop the driver of the car as she was about to drive off. The only issue we have is that sometimes not all the alarms deactivate when the fob is pressed resulting in us driving off which then sets off the still activated alarm. Also, ours is an earlier generation with the company logo stuck onto the refractor plate and they have all begun to peel off which is quite unsightly. All in all we are very happy with the product, Mike is a great guy and we wish him great success in keeping our collective prides and joy safe! Great video guys, but maybe tone down the music a bit!😁
I purchased this for my Van conversion. It works great. I did have a problem with one of the modules draining the battery too quickly. Got in contact with Mike and i had a replacement within 2 days. Excellent after sales service. The only think I need is a cover for the fob so I dont set the alarm whilst climbing under the van :). I know they are working on that and I will buy one when they are available.
Crackin vlog as per and what an excellent product! Just gone straight onto advantures website and ordered the bundle using the code in your description. Coffee bought also as a thank you. Much love Mark and Natalie
Now then, how are thee both? Cracking vlog and product, smashing fella that owns it as well, funnily enough I watched another on this just yesterday, it's on my ever growing list of things to put on. I really hope this gives you back a bit more confidence that you're all protected, could tell you were buzzing with it. Thanks for sharing
Just BTW, It's obvious that Mike has a great "Trade Professional" attitude. No B.S, plus a "what if?" approach to design and use of the product. (He's a "Fault finder", asking the correct questions to AVOID a problem)
Hi Andy & Lindsey. Now that was a cracking video and that blokes knowledge was pretty amazing not sure on the price of a van guardian but feel it’s well worth it. 😊
pity it makes so much noise on arming, i think I'd get lynched at night turning that on when arriving late somewhere - wonder if they will give a muted arm beep option - like holding down the arm buton or something
thats my only concern - I guess the only thing is you'd likely not use it on a campsite but a parkup with others around might be an issue. It would be great to have a silent arming option though
Took a look on the website and priced up (just for giggles) I thought it would cost more. When you consequences of losing the van, or personal items, then insurance, it's really a No-Brainer, It's less than the spare wheel and tyre on the back of the van! Not to mention the ease of fitting compared to a "Normal" alarm and the "1diot" proof control system. . These should be "Flying off the shelves" before Christmas, the just need exposure in the right locations.
This is a brilliant device, should be a good deterrent. I have just discovered your channel. Your videos are really helpful and interesting. Did you fit the side windows, or are they factory fitted ?
Thanks for the video. Looks like a great product and will defo be getting this for my van. I wonder if you ever needed to remove the sensors, say to get my van wrapped or re-sprayed in the future, how difficult is it to remove them and also will the adhesive damage the paint work?
Once the shallow base tray is securely 3M’d on, it’s very difficult to remove. The chap did show us how you’d need to slowly pull it with pliers, bit by bit which inevitably breaks it as it’s so secure (pretty reassuring). They sell all the components separately & inexpensively for that reason. You can also interchange the covers which snap on & off using their tool (included) if you want different colours. They’ll also colour match your vehicle colour if you want something bespoke. 🙌
That might be something they’re working on but in the meantime, my security cameras send me a message if they pick up movement or sound so I’ll get an alert on my phone 🙌
This looks good - seen it mentioned a few times but this is the first video that actually makes me understand what it will do. We dont wild camp that much in the way you guys do, although do occasionally, but its also the big deterrant factor while the van is parked up at home and when out and about. Van alarms are shit and although we have a mega tracker/immobiliser I still worry about the risk of break-in and theft of stuff inside, even though they wont likely be able to ever take the van itself. This looks a pretty cheap and reliable solution and as you say, you cant put a price on peace of mind when away in the van! Thanks for the vid.
Great video! Do you think these are worthwhile on smaller vans i.e T6? Would they stick to glass on side/barn doors as there is no van above the windows. Thanks
Just watched the video on Vanguard it looks absolutely fantastic and thinking of having one fitted. I don’t seem to be too far away from the location to have it fitted. Just one question may I ask what if a bird sat or landed on your roof during the night. Would this set the alarm off?
Super easy to fit yourself Colin & on sale (20% off PLUS our discount) at AdventureVanLife! Good question…Some Sea Gulls are a bit mad on stomping around on your van but I still doubt it very much. I’d say the roof is sufficiently away from the units themselves so wouldn’t activate the shock sensors plus you have 7 levels of sensitivity to easily play with 🙌
We’ve not managed to ‘accidentally’ set it off yet but we’re still experimenting with the sensitivity settings. I guess if you have it on the highest sensitivity and really slam a cupboard door, it could trigger the quick 2 second warning but so far, under normal internal movement and living, we’ve not managed to set it off 🙌
Cheers Craig, no, they don’t get set off if the van is rocking so internal movement is not a problem. I’m still experimenting with the sensitivity settings & ‘trying’ different ways to ‘accidentally’ set them off from the inside but so far, so good. I’ll be doing more testing in the coming days 🙌
It’s fine in the rain. We’ve not had it yet in an almighty & powerful storm but there are 7x sensitivity settings to easily toggle thru so I’m sure it’s easily adjusted to tolerate powerful weather
There are many different price points from single units to bundle packs…AdventureVanLife.com have a 20% off sale running that’ll also take our OVT5 discount code. Well worth checking out 🫶🙌
Looks great, but super expensive and the old technology of having to keep replacing the batteries will be a pain and again, expensive. I've got insanely loud rape alarms inside the van that I can easily activate if I feel threatened.... cheap as chips. So for those reasons ... I'm out.
Cheers Julia, glad you’ve found your own good solution. The peace of mind is refreshing isn’t it? For us, the battery operation is what sold it, as we didn’t want any more holes in the van for wiring 😉🫶🙌
@@OurVanTalesI was thinking of getting a reimo rail installed on my van, now after watching this vlog I'm having second thoughts as it would require holes to be drilled. What is the problem with having holes drilled?
Drill holes aren’t too bad in themselves…Just treat with something effective so that rust doesn’t form later. We just didn’t want lots of unnecessary holes PLUS wiring as we’d have to pull apart the fixed ceiling etc for the alarm install if it was a wired system. Your rail sounds like a good idea though 😉🫶
Yeh, I dented my van going into a multistorey but luckily the dent is in exactly the position where a rail could be installed so would cover up the dent. The rail would drain rain water away from my sliding door too plus I've then got the option of adding a canopy later on if I wanted to so seemed like the ideal solution 🤔 Shame these guys don't offer a usb chargeable solution, no wiring would be required and it would save on the cost of batteries.
They do seem to be looking at all sorts of development for power without wires but the re-chargeable option doesn’t last anywhere near as long as quality AAA’s so far (approx 6 months in standby) 🙌
Please don’t try and scare people about being unsafe in a van i have been wild camping in the uk and Europe without any problems this product isn’t going to help you if they want to get into your van then they will better of getting dead locks how many times do you here car alarms going off and know one takes any notice
Ok mate, you clearly know better than the rest of us…Can you please advise us all on which deadlocks you’ve got that you can secure whilst inside your van, has a piercing loud deterrent if you touch the door handles AND above all has a wall mounted panic button? They’ll be the ones needed to give us the same peace of mind as we currently now have…Many thanks 🫶🙌
