Disco Inferno is my favorite wrestler of all time. I'm glad to see him on this video. It's a shame you didn't mention he was the leader for a short time of a stable in TNA called Sports Entertainment Extreme and actually earned a World Title shot against Jeff Jarrett in 2004.
@@DrMurdercock There's no way that's accurate. You could make the thing out of sterling silver and it still wouldn't cost that much. Maybe (and its a BIG maybe) $3500 if it was done by someone with enough of a reputation to command a ridiculous premium and could get away with overpricing things but there's no way it cost more than a new car. Not even WCW was that stupid.
I never remember him doing anything to impress me. I'm all for great wrestlers to win titles. But I remember ways thinking that he sucked and looked stiff in the ring.
Alex Wright is actually not decent at all. Signs guys to his school to train, charges insane rates and barely runs classes. Also doesn't allow anyone appearing for new to appear for any other promotion, yet doesn't run regular shows.
I also liked Wrath. But I liked him as the powerhouse that wasn't using a Mortal Kombat gimmick. Mainly because he did some cool moves that were different for the time. He was an awesome throwback to alot of 80's wrestlers imo.
Norman Smiley was one of the most entertaining guys ever!!! I loved the whole reluctant Hardcore champion gimmick. He would genuinely try to lose only to end up winning.
I remember those wrestlers they're part of my childhood, glacier entrance always kinda cool, alex wright could become something bigger then, but unfortunately wcw didnt know how to capitalize him,he got the looks and all, probably push to upper mid card.
I was a fan of all these guys! I always wondered why Alex Wright wasn't picked up by WWF, after the buyout. Wow, I never knew that Glacier Co-owned his own promotion, at one time. Hey, you forgot some guys. What about Sgt. Craig Pittman, Ice Train, Scott Norton, Hugh Morrus, V.K./Micheal Wallstreet, Prince Iaukea, etc.???
Lot of memories back from when I used to watch wrasslin'. Any one of those guys could have gone over the top with the right push and gimmick. I originally thought the Disco Inferno was a pure cheese gimmick that wouldn't last, lol, but the dude was good, had the skill and while probably relegated to jobbing much of the time, he'd help put other guys over pretty well. He had some good charisma too. All that is probably what led to the longevity of the character. And regardless, it's these mid-card guys who often really make a promotion good and they certainly don't always get the credit that they should for making a night's broadcast more entertaining and fun to watch.
Lamia, as much grief as I give your channel sometimes I always enjoy these videos and until today I thought Brian Clark was dead along with Bryan Adams so thank you for teaching me something today
oh man, some of my favorite childhood wrestlers... La Parka, Screamin' Norman Smiley, Disco Inferno... nice to see them once more. Just missing the great Jushin Thunder Liger.
I really enjoyed the video I have always been a big fan of Wcw. I was wondering if it would be possible to do more of those videos? I have been wondering what happened to some of the wrestlers after WCW closed down
The problem with Alex Wright was after they had changed his gimmick and he became Berlyn, fans in Germany thought this was supposed to be a Nazi-gimmick (which it wasn't) and stopped supporting him.
we never thought that berlyn was a nazi gimmick.he was just a german dude in a gothic outfit that hates usa. the reason why he didn´t get the support is the fact he wasn´t showed often in the german television version of monday nitro or thunder. mostly the directors cutting his matches out of the tape.
Most of these were great. I'm going to rank them: 1. Alex Wright (WWE made him offers, and they promised him main event pushes...but Alex turned them down. He still holds a victory over HHH from a Starcade PPV) 2. La Parka (Like Wright he had the talent & charisma to be a main eventer, but made too much money in Mexico) 3. Disco Inferno (Man, he was over! But his backstage personality was very Enzo'ish) 4. Norman Smiley (Man he was over, and could wrestle. Not sure why WWE was hesitant in signing him) 5. Ernest Miller (Fantastic personality, but his in ring skills took a hit when he went to WWE) 6. Glacier (I liked the gimmick as a kid, but there is only so far you can go with that. When he redubuted the characters as a parody of a Superhero...it worked. Basically he was "The Hurricane" before Helms adopted the gimmick...its a shame they stopped the angle after just a few weeks) 7. Buff Bagwell (When Buff was on, he was on...but most of the time he was "off") 8. Wrath (Meh, he wasn't that great in the ring, but he wasn't the worst either. His WWE run was pathetic tho) 9. Lash Leroux (He was basically the DDP of teh cruiserweight division. He had no real athletic talent, he just worked really hard. But it took its toll, and he lost his passion for the industry) 10. Scotty Riggs (Never had that "it" factor)

Norman Smiley and Disco Inferno were stars to me back then. Smiley had a great body slam that was unique and showed off his strength. They never really named it but I called it the "Smiley Slam". He should have never worked for the WWE after they wouldn't hire him as a wrestler but a job is a job I guess. Disco had a great gimmick. He wasn't exactly popular but people knew who he was. He was over for many years.
I remember the hype for Glacier.. They hyped him up for months with sneak peeks of him Kung Fu'ing in the snowy mountains and shit.. Every week we got a 30 second look at his Ice Kung Fu in WCW but no actual wrestling matches.. To this day Ive never seen Glacier wrestle...
