Construction projects don't have to get clearance upto project with area less than 1.5 Lakh sqm 6. Most absurd: Reporting cant be done by citizens. It can only be done by Govt approved party, client of Govt itself. In case the project proponent does some disobediences from EC norms they should come out by themselves and pay the fine otherwise if govt. Finds out they will double the fine. 7. The season for monitoring is reduced to just 2 mine months. Earlier it was 3 months.

I'm from Neyveli, Tamilnadu. I'm pretty sure it isn't just a boiler burst , investigation was carried out after a lot of pressure yet the status of the result is unknown. I don't think they have found out the reason of the accident that happened before this and same applies for this case. It's indeed true that news channels discussed about the accident only after an hour it had happened. One day after they forgot about it and none of the news channels cared about people who died.

It's high time that environment shouldn't be left at the hands of these greedy politicians. Like the three organs of democracy, environment should be given a place, with independence from legislature and executive, subject directly to public referendum. The most qualified experts on environment, who have a record of integrity and ethics must be placed at the helm of affairs. With such a vulnerable state of the planet facing severe climate change, this has become imperative.
Even with the previous EIA the Visakhapatnam and the Assam accidents occurred. Anyways, Development and environmental protection cannot go hand in had in a small, poor & developing country like India with a huge population that needs jobs.
I can still recall the full lockdown days, roaming on terrace when the sun goes down has always been a habit. These days were calm with no air pollutants. Now, after the lockdown has been lifted, we are back to consuming poisonous air.
This clearly says that influential people can do anything, as a citizen of India has no right to complain about even if something goes wrong. Sometimes it feels like we are not a democratic country anymore. Save the environment, follow biodiversity then we won't create problems.

If you read newspaper, then trees will be cut to make paper. If you read the digital subscription, you utilise the electric energy, mostly produced through burning of coal/petroleum and the battery which sustains it is made up of lithium whose mining is toxic.

And get very excited in all our achievements, but recently I heard all around that we are going into a danger of against environmental protection when all the other nations are moving towards being environmental friendly. It's a big surprise for me if this true as we are the only nation who consider our land as MA and can't believe that we are not going to do anything to preserve her.
