To me, this is the sr-71 blackbird of the ocean, what amazing machines
Awesome video, thank you Bob!
cool job 👍👍👏👏👏👏
Beautiful detail! Very timely for me as I progress with my 1:144 version. It was also interesting to see some of the static shots of the real thing showing details I hadn't been able to find previously.
That's awesome.
Beautiful !!
Holy crap! It's the Red October!
Close, but not quite. The real Akula class boats were about 175m (574’) long. Depending on your preferred source, Alec Baldwin says the Red October is 12m (39’) longer, and Tom Clancy says 44’ (13.4m) longer. They do both agree it’s “some 650 feet” (198m) long though. 🤷♂️ Go figure. Alec also says it’s 3m wider, but I didn’t see any mention of that in the book.
Of course, the movie version has the sloped area around the sail, where the real thing is rounded. And the Red October has a completely different tail section without the prop shrouds which would block the caterpillar drive outlets (though the book version uses a pump-jet instead of a “magneto-hydrodynamic” drive, which would have shrouded props). The movie version also has a towed sonar array pod at the top of the vertical stabilizer, like the Project 971 class fast attack submarines, which real Alula class boats never had.
Other than those minor differences though, yes, it’s just like the Red October. 😜
@knight907 Still, it's pretty cool, though.
Nice dude, from Brownsburg In
That Typhoon looked great,!! I would consider replacing the electronics layout with one of your WTC,s if there are any problems in the future. Great Work!!
That’s a nice one
awesome boat sub i wish it was for sale
DRY DOCKS 🎉
Really Nice Boat !!!
Wow, that's a big sub, but safety is always a concern with the real Russian subs. Happy Holidays to all our veterans. Not a sub but, USS Carney is undefeated - by a margin of 22-0 - against the missiles and drones launched by Iran-backed Houthi rebels since the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer deployed to Middle Eastern waters in October.
Ran across an engineering textbook years ago that stated emag waves over 1MHz would not penetrate water. Kind of surprised that 900MHz works. I suppose this is the present day solution to the 75MHz conundrum ??
Bob has an earlier video testing the dual frequency set up for range in a pool. It's certainly become a problem as available frequencies have climbed..
Got it ! Thanks.

It actually was two submarines strap side-by-side. It wasn’t one whole submarine.
It was one submarine with two pressure hulls (well.. three, actually, if we count the small one in the sail area).
2:01 ...👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺...it's a huge sucker...😌😌😌
Rc subs are slow and boring
The whole point of RC subs is scale modeling a functional vehicle that’s capable of surfacing *after* it sinks (since any boat can sink…once). They aren’t intended to be fast. And if you think they’re boring, why are you watching a video about them? 🤷♂️
He's watching because he's looking for fodder to churn up drama. Small people. Small minds. If you ignore them, they go away without the attention.
