- EXCLUSIVE TO THIS CHANNEL: On 9/19/24, I was honored to collaborate with four wonderful Seattle community entities to present an evening of film and music in a park in my Uptown Seattle neighborhood. My friend, photographer Al McCutchan made this video of a boogie-blues number I wrote recently about building community. -- A great song for the occasion. The wind picked up and blew my sheet music around, briefly interrupting what was a perfect rendition of the song. I hope you like it. My thanks to Seattle Uptown Alliance, Uptown Arts District, Seattle International Film Festival and Seattle Parks and Recreation for including me in this community-building event! - Lyrics in a pinned comment.
Kind People - By Randy Bowles
Kind people
Don’t tell you who to be.
They know folks
Need to be free.
They look for bridges
They can build.
Kind people
Want bellies filled.
Kind people
Don’t tell you how to pray.
They don’t say
Theirs is the only way.
They don’t tell you
Who to love.
Kind people
Don’t push and shove.
Let’s work together
Lift everybody up.
So everyone drinks
From the loving cup.
Kind people
They don’t tell you
What books to read.
Kind people know
Kids need to learn.
They know books
Should not be burned.
Kind people see
We’re in the same boat.
They don’t make it
Harder to vote.
You don’t have to do
Just like they do.
Kind people know
You have the right to choose.
Let’s vow to build community.
To join together in unity.
