This was filmed July 23... I met Mike Dawes after their Annapolis show July 24th. I was the last fan to meet him and get merch and scribble on CDs... Anyhow I knew he was spent and exhausted... I gave him a thank you card for his songs / hardwork / tour and to wish him safe travels to Petaluma.... I asked him, "So what's it like to tour with Tommy?" Mike responded "He's the kindest person ever... he's so kind mate. " I was like "Yeah i've heard he and Andy Mckee are kind and humble..." Mike said, "You don't get how kind he is... today there was a hispanic family at the hotel that was in distress because they lost some luggage... me and Tommy were outside of the lobby and Tommy went over to see if he could help ease their distress by playing a few songs for the family. He played a concert for them for over an hour there in the corner of the hotel lobby (to their delight). NOBODY DOES THAT... NOBODY." Cheers Mike.... hopefully you got a Maryland crabcake before you flew out to California. The concert was unreal... unreal man. perfect... See you during IGN 2020
That's and awesome story, thanks for sharing. I was also at the Annapolis show and it was amazing! I loved it when Tommy came out during Mikes set and played Slow Dancing in a Burning Room.
Thanks for sharing this.
So he 's the Keanu Reeves of Acoustic Guitar apparently, nice to hear that...we need kindness more than ever these days ;)
@@randomguestobserving6071 Yes.
Wow what a story! Thanks for sharing
Two guys at the top of their game, what an honour to be able to listen and watch
my eyeballs can't take in all the greatness at once... that's it. I'm watching this again twice and focusing on each of you individually... lol
Gerard Wainwright try to improve your cleverness
Probably the video quality
Old legend meeting a new legend. You can totally see Tommy is impressed. Really fun.
You can tell Mike got very emotional after hearing Tommy's words at the end. Tommy is such a great human being and his heart speaks when he's playing.
if these two keep on practicing they can soon afford a HD camera.
😅
It's not about the cam, it's about the mic
🤣🤣🤣
And a mic
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love the contrast of watching Tommy's meat hooks absolutely manhandle the strings and Mike's slender digits delicately and articulately finding their mark so effortlessly.
Massive respect. The music is in sync because their personalities match so well. First time they played together? Those are kindred souls.
I just saw you both together at the Egg in Albany, New York the other day! (April 5, 2022) It was great to see this video of the first time you met. What an incredible concert! I'm 55 years old and I've gone to many rock concerts, and just the two of you on guitars is the best concert I've ever been to! My son and I were in the fifth row just to your left, we enjoyed it more than I can put into words. Thank you so much Mike and Tommy! By the way my name is Tommy and my brother's name is Mike!
Saw them in Wilmington. Their show was absolutely incredible. I could not stop smiling, while at times tearing up, because of the unbelievable talent these guys have and the emotions they stir.
The harmony in Slow Dancing in a Burning in Room was sublime. Favorite animal: Otter
18:01 Mike Dawes Cutaway guitar magically changes to non cutaway.
LOOL ))))
@@sommerssamantha What are you talking about? Were you seeing the reflection?
@@antreb15 Yes, of course! In a sense, it looks as if the table is made of glass, and through it half the guitar is visible ))))
And a double neck at 22:11!
Not to mention all the times they have two heads each.
I just discovered Michael Dawes the other day on Michael Palmisano’s RUclips channel playing Jump by Eddie Van Halen. I was blown away. And I remember thinking “wow, imagine him playing with Tommy Emanuel!” I guess RUclips algorithms can read minds now! 😬. Wow, great performance guys!! I really enjoyed your session!! Thank you. I would love to see either or better yet both of you in Denver sometime!! Please come!
I did and thought exactly the same thing!!!
Am I the only one watching from India this video after 10 months and having a wow reaction when Mike mentioned indian dishes are the national dish of England. However My no 1 in finger picking is Tommy following him for 8 years.and today I added Mike as no2. Very melodic and extraordinary Jamming by these fellas. Cheers 👍
Great seeing the two greatest guitar players together having fun
Wow. Such an amazing delight it was to see two of the greatest guitarists playing and chatting together. Thanks Mike and Tommy.
The low-res camera work actually adds to the moment (communicates vulnerability, accessibility, humility, and other great hippie ideals). I'm personally a sucker for great mics, effects, and production, but I also appreciate performances on low-res and lo-fi equipment--it reveals another very important side to the artist's musicianship.
Thank you guys so much for sharing this little session with the wider world. It's really encouraging.
TRUTH
2 guitar legends, one older, one younger, together for our viewing pleasure.
Dude how can you have Tommy Emmanuel there and record him through half a potato
Enjoyed Thx!
@@michaelscott1199 lol true though
This was a live stream :) .. The setup itself is probably alright .. it's just that it got potatoed as it was broadcasted live over shitty internet speed with sub-optimal compression algorithms
What a fu**in' amazing video. Acoustic monsters attitude. Astonished.
I've just begun to build my second acoustic guitar. You're so inspiring.
Only Tommy can play over anybody else's tune so joyfully adding his own licks to it, and surprisingly enoguh.. making it even better :)
When two of the greatest get together and you find out they have the worst recording equipment since Charlie Chaplin films
Seriously. I can’t watch it.
I just discovered Mike Dawes the other day and was thinking he should tour with Tommy Emanuel. And Here They ARE!! Super talented both!
Two amazing pickers who play the entire instrument. I'm so glad to be able to witness this video as well as others. Wonderful music! Thank you both!
Tommy , Mike, you shake the cream out of your instruments. Even audio is not the best you sparkle and shine like diamonds. Can not imagine a world without music and musicians like you. Good to see you both play together hoping for a show in south germany. Lake of constance is a nice place to play. You know Tommy is what I heard. Never stop playing and inspiring people. Mo'love! No added talent needed for Tommy 🤣❤
Maybe the two most talented of their generation!
With lots of respect for each other🙏
Thank you so much Mike and Tommy - It sounded Beautiful, Gorgeous and Fantastic - You boys really know your way to people's hearts - well, you found mine............
I love watching Mike because he reminds me of what I aspire to achieve as a musician. What an amazing talent! This was a cool collaboration, too.
I even never dreamed to see and to hear two of my favourite guitar players together! Of course sound was like from a can, but this not spoiled my impression!
Keep in music guys! You are awesome! Please make your collaboration more tight and a long timed! Thank You a lot!!!
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
You are the luckiest people on the planet! But watching this was mezmorizing ,so maybe I’m the lucky duck... lol...
Thank you...
🎸🤓🎸☮️🇺🇸❤️
Truly remarkable. It just doesn't get any better than this. Mike and Tommy jamming in a hotel lobby! Awesome!
What an absolute legend. Must've been a dream to meet & play with him!
squackles oh yeeeah
Wow not only Mike and Tommy but both of them playing Slow Dancing in a Burning Room! I kinda always wanted to hear Tommy's take on a John Mayer tune but never thought I would, it lived up to expectations, so tastefully done. Also cool story about them hanging out in the studio. You both are amazing guitar players and humans, thanks for sharing.
Hippopotamus.
What a sweet rapport you two have together - it was highly entertaining even beyond the fantastic guitar playing - thank you for making me smile!
Saw them in Beverly, MA, USA a few weeks ago. Very powerful experience. Tommy was as fantastic as I'd ever seen him on video or heard him on radio and Mike Dawes does stuff I've never imagined or heard or seen. Tommy's comment at the end of this video is relatable..Dawes' playing invigorates the soul...the soul of music. Too much? No.
That first song they played. Omg id love to hear them play tears in heaven. Tommys cover was the best.
... this Slow Dancing In The Burning Room was absolutely amazing !!! Fabulous playing indeed !!!
The amount of talent and musical knowledge in that room is absolutely staggering.
Great to see two styles mesh, reminds of Stefan Grossman and John Renbourn. Different styles but together sounded joyous.
I'm speechless!!! I bow and give thanks to thee!!
goosebumps ... they are so good. I love Mike and Tommy is just fantastic.
So much talent bottled up in one boardroom. I'm touching the screen, hoping that some of this amazing talent can flow through my fingers. Dang, it didn't work. Guess I'll have to practice, press replay, practice, again, and again and again.
It's nice to see two legends play together and become friends.
I feel like im gaining skill just by watching them
You're not
You are
Lol, I know right !
Yeah we all are

Absolutely breathtaking display of musicianship.
Love Tommy & proud he’s an Aussie.
Only just discovered Mike, and really blown away by his style.
Tommy never looses his spirit and energy . Most inspiring Aussie ever
Brilliant duo. Styles are very complimentary
Im smiling the entire time im watching this
Damn straight! So much talent
@@mattclarke3308 MOST ENJOYABILITY ENSUED FORTHWITH!
pure joy
There is no level on scale for this kind of skill 🤯
I'VE KNOWN BOTH MIKE AND TOMMY FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW AND I MUST SAY THEY ARE BOTH 2 OF THE NICEST PEOPLE YOU WOULD EVER WANT 2 MEET.
I love how Tommy just sits in the pocket and plays little complimentary runs
What a great human being Tommy Emmanuel is. We all know he is giant guitar player but I love his wisdom and approach to life in general. Of course I admire Mike Dawes style and technique - discovered him just few days ago!!!
You only have one mother and one father. I have lost both of them. Best advice that Tommy Emmanuel gave to Mike is stay in touch with them! Once they're gone you're going to wish they were there.
You guys are Dynamite together !! You should Collaborate on an Album !! Tommy , You picked up on Mike Quickly as you always do and you both were Great !!
It's like saying I played with Chet Atkins. There's no way THE CGP "King of Australia" can sit and watch. It all flows through him in a righteous way. We're not worthy! We're not worthy! Love it Mike!
Slow dancing in a buring room hit my feels...omg chils

Saw you and Tommy on your birthday at Bergen PAC! What a treat ! What a gift to be able to experience music from two master artists! I’m enjoying your new album and making my way through the course you have on JamPlay. It was a pleasure meeting you, and I look forward to seeing you again. You are an amazing light! Char
Thank you, Sirs, for the grace.
And to think they are still having so much fun! Way to go guys, such a pleasure to watch!
I was off on a different tab when 19:18 happened. Gave me a fright XD
Same with me XD
What i find to be most incredible is the fact Mike didn't get distracted by Tommy. LOLOL WHAT a jam. WHAT a treat.
I met Mike and Tommy in Fulda, Germany in November of 2019 - Mike after their concert and Tommy the next morning. Both amazing guitarists and people.
Best. Birthday. Ever. ❤️😊
PLEASE DO A STUDIO VERSION for SLOW DANCING WITH TOMMY EMMANUEL
Holy smoke. My two favorite guitar players in the world.... together........!!!!!
Wouldn't you know, two of my all time favorite guitar players who I've followed for years, learned a few licks watching and at one time keeping track of where you guys were playing. So this summer I've been repairing, building, replacing and doing all those home things needed before winter. So I watch this video, Great by the way, and here I sit 45-50 minuets from Wilminton, Del. Here in Pennsylvania and you're leaving for home. Boy have I been out of the loop! I catch you next time,,,,,hopefully! Thanks Kindly Mike and Tommy! Love, Light, Peace and Music! DaveyJO in Pa.
Daveyjo Weaver until next time. Btw I’ll be in the area this October and early 2020 on two different tours
mikedawesofficial YAHOO! Thanks Kindly Mike! DaveyJO
Great, two of my guitar heroes :)
TWO MASTERS.

Please redo this in a sound studio with awesome equpment
Omg I cant imagine a better duo
Amazing...amazing...amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEAUTY, I LOVE, LOVE BEAUTY...I LOVE YOU BOTH FOR LOVING ACOUSTIC... ITS SO BEAUTIFUL... I KNOW, IVE SEEN...
Wow....just wow. That was... just wow. I'm shellshocked.
Wow! I just recently (maybe a week) came across Mikes music and I've been a fan of Tommy for years; but, just days ago, I literally was wondering if there was any Tommy influence in Mikes playing - I new there was something and this confirmed it - You both are amazing musicians and thank you for this treat! I'd love to hear you guys play a variation of Tommy's Blue Moon.
Thank you and receive all the love from a fellow musician from Costa Rica, the John Mayer tune almost made me cry.
Two Great Giants of the Acoustic Steel Guitar World !
I JUST stumbled across these two most outstanding guitarists yesterday and I am hooked. Buying ton of their music now. Their styles, technique, and potently emotional overtones present in their compositions just blew me away.
Funny how they mentioned RUclips and how so many people found them through it. I first found Mike (by accident) then went on a several hour "rabbit hole tour" of his online stuff and then I find this other mind-blowing guitarist, Tommy. Well, suffice to say, the next time they tour the US if they come anywhere near Florida then my wife and I are having a date night. Guess where we'll be going?
I'm amazed that at the moment of 2 of the best acoustic guitarist in the world are meeting, the only recording system available was a nokia from the 90s ... It makes me cry.
Mike Dawes is the most gifted player in the world no doubt about it
Gert lush!
Such disparate styles and techniques but, rather than fight it out to see who's best, you've found common ground and created something greater than the individual parts.… and with joy. I wish all world leaders played musical instruments…
Even the camera focus is jamming to their playing😂
Right, and the people don't want to be ruled by a cabal in Brussels....pffft...please play. I love hearing you play... just play..
So. Incredible thankyou
clearly my favorite animal is the sloth... 😌 been slacking on my personal practices. This makes me wanna start practicing again. Love the stories and playing, ofcourse! Tommy, my uncle was a huge fan of you. He's no longer with us, but it's because of him I found you and was inspired to take up the guitar. Your playing/music is inspiring! And likewise to you Mike!
If a sloth and a turtle were to run a race , which one would win?
Wow, check out the contrast in finger size between these two.
Great players both.
‘Glad I subscribed: found this: ‘like minted strawberries. Watching this,
I had monochrome leaf scrolls growing in the air, coy in a clear pool, butterflies in an RHS garden, and couple of trickster crows playing in the wind. All good, particularly after a tough week and being stuck shielding. Thank you.
Oh my kingdom for a decent microphone 😂 still amazing. Love these guys together, the athleticism, textures and rhythm of Mike and the soul from Tommy.
The john maher tune at the end what great improvisations.
I don't even need to see this video to give it a thumb's up
This is precious
Can watch them whole day
I do not know how legendary these two are..but I'm learning.
If I could give this 10 thousand hearts I'd do that. ❤
automatic subtitles thought Tommy said "thanks a notch" instead of Frank Sinatra lol
great video, always a pleasure to watch and hear both of you.
Tommy is the best
Very beautiful..
He’s so cool. Hello Frank. Can’t wait to see you come to Duluth, Tommy!!
Tommy is master in improvisation 😏
hair is standing!! THANK YOU! much love to you both!!
So nice..🎶🎶 i'm looking forward to see/meet you Mike & Tommy in November in Hannover🇩🇪🇩🇪🎶🎸 (Meet & Greet) maybe we can play a tune together :) See you soon!🙂
