I think that the Spinarak description was probably for the correct Pokemon and was trying to say something like "it's strong webbing is prized by fishermen for it's use as a net".
"On a beautiful day in Pallet Town, Old Man and his Pokemon Wabuu are searching for Bootleg Pokemon to capture & sell for lots of money. But, Bonesteel & Dr. Quease of Team Rocket on their trail."
The Mantine card was somewhat accurate because until Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Remoraid was part of the official artwork and in-game sprite for Mantine
In the lore Remoraid sometimes latches onto Mantine to eat parasites and clean its skin, like some fish do for sharks in real life. (I remember official art for Mantine usually included a Remoraid on it's fin.) So I don't think the text on the Mantine card was meant for Remoraid, but the original text probably referenced Remoraid.
Yeah, I looked up Lost Thunder Mantine and this is the entry on the real card: "While elegantly swimming in the sea, it ignores Remoraid that cling to its fins seeking food scraps."
Hanecco is actually Hoppip's Japanese name in the final versions, as well. It doesn't just mean leaf cat, it's a Pun(tm): "haneru" means "to hop/jump", and "nekko" means "root"
low-key poipole being a starter in another dimension is a cool idea, considering how busted it is in Alola. that would mean in that dimension its stats are "balanced" and there's pokemon more broken than it lmao
Maybe it's the Speed Boost Blaziken of the Ultra Dimension? While I doubt we'll see more of the world the UBs are from any time soon, I'd absolutely love a game set there.

Noice. I love these Pokemon bootlegs Also, that blurb on the box was taken from the Bulbapedia page on Forbidden Light. It matches up perfectly until the very end. Might've been using an older version of that page, as now they mention Generation VII Pokemon, Kalos, and then they talk about Ultra Necrozma.
I just sold a "Something is killing the children" #6 for $1400. I know it's a comic but it's essentially the same thing. I never thought I'd make that much off a single comic, especially a recent one and it blew my mind. Considering I paid $10 for it a year ago.
My favorite cards of this Bootleg set are: Marill, Mantine, Azumarill, Chansey, and of course, Toucannon. 😁 And Blissey being called an egg made me laugh for some reason. 😁
Reminds me of the time I bought a bunch of bootleg "Yu-Gi-Oh!" cards at a Flea Market, only these would fool people a lot better. Also, seems to be more tadpoles in this deck than anglers, and they're only exists one plant based Pokemon. lol
As you mighta guessed, most of the words you didn't recognize were, roughly, the Japanese names for these Pokémon. Remoraid is Teppouo, Hoppip is Hanekko, Corsola is Sunnygo, Smeargle is Doble, Toxapex is Dohidoide. "Oiwa" on Toucannon's card is supposed to be "large rock" or "boulder", presumably coming from "大岩" in the original Lost Thunder description.
Its strange though how much these are 'Tadpole' and 'Angler' Pokemon. Considering how otherwise they don't seem based on any Poliwag/Tympole or Chinchou card, its a bizarre choice to have that be the thing that changes from the official cards along with the poorly translated descriptions.
There's also the irony that despite the fact that Chinchou is present in the set and "Angler Pokémon" is one of the two types they love giving to the wrong Pokémon, it still gets referred to as a Tadpole instead, almost as if they knew they only used Tadpole and Angler Pokémon and they purposefully gave Chinchou the wrong one just to mess with the person getting the set.
We finally have a Pokémon where it makes SENSE to keep it as the Angler Pokémon, but Chinchou's a Basic card, so it just _had_ to be changed to a Tadpole.
At least they gave credit to the illustrators such as the legendary Ken Sugimori. 🙏🏽 although it does sound the Notorious EastWest Dubbers wrote this....
Considering Meganium and Toucannon are also Angler Pokémon, Stage 2 cards remain Angler Pokémon like the Stage 1 cards, so nah, Politoed isn't a flower.
It's genuinely embarrassing how much of a PokéNerd I am at this point but it's been driving me mad for over a year what that Trumbeak Kamehameha is supposed to be. They must have gotten the artwork from somewhere. It can learn Sky Attack from a Move Tutor... maybe? Oh, like anyone else in the world cares.
Wait, aren't GX cards usually good since you can play them as a basic pokemon, while having generally better stats than non-GX basic pokemon like Snorlax? Why are you saying they're bad?
I sold my old magic the gathering cards and YuGiOh cards... I had a knockoff YuGiOh the Exodia the forbidden 5 cards out of packaging YuGiOh was spelled in the pokémon font on the back of the cards originally was offered $100 until I said flip the YuGiOh cards over I had bought 3 unopened packages at the same flea market the guy opened them up all the cards were spelled that way I given $70 for cards that I was either gifted or only paid 3 dollars for or just traded because of multiple sames
I always wondered why not just make these bootleg cards looks decent. There's a market for good cards priced cheaply if your goal is to trick people. I'm assuming that the price to make good ones is to much or this is trying to scam old people into thinking they got a box for their children?
Ah yes, the three types of Pokemon, anglers, tadpoles, and Bagon the flower.
Don’t forget Tuna. Never forget the Tuna
"I was strengthened as I was strengthened while living in a mushy scaffold on the muddy" Truer words have never been spoken.
I think that the Spinarak description was probably for the correct Pokemon and was trying to say something like "it's strong webbing is prized by fishermen for it's use as a net".
That is it's pokedex entry from Pokemon moon"Some fishermen weave its sturdy thread into nets to catch fish Pokémon."
I don't give much of a toss about the Pokemon franchise, but these bootleg zone videos are always entertaining to watch regardless =)

Remoraid mostly stopped appearing on mantine model and Sprites post Diamond and Pearl, but the association remains via Mantyke and pokedex entries.
