In an ultimately frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. The city ruler has to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastracture the citizens live in. Leader’s tactical skills face challenges, frequently questioning morality and the basic foundation of what we consider an organized society. Here optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. While city and society management consume most of the ruler’s time, at some point exploration of outside world is necessary to understand its history and present state.

It's so good that at least one company focus their games mechanics and stories not only in shooting against the "bad boys" or saving the country because "we are the good ones" but this guys understand very well what really means surviving against all odds. Keep the outstanding work and never stop making games that try to portrait humankind. We need more games like Frostpunk and less fps where you shoot faceless enemy soldiers.

This genuinely looks right up my alley. The visual style and the way the city grows are very aesthetically pleasing and I think the moral decisions will add a very interesting human element to the city builder base of the game. Can't wait to play this when it releases!

Well, think about it from different perspective. This trailer is about Hope. And it's something we are focusing on - Hope is very important in Frostpunk - you'll have to inspire you people to go further, to withstand even more. Not so depressing now, right? ;)

A solid masterpiece. The timelapse in the end truly touched me. I never saw that coming and it's a really great way of saying thanks towards the players after the long challenging days. A very well designed game!

@@doge8378 oh it's nothing, except you can literally build Aushwitz and practice facism in this game all in the name of survival.
The radial building could be quite fun to play with - when I'm building in games I always try to make things symmetrical or line up and I feel like the circular building aspect will keep everything looking amazing no matter what's placed. I also love the expanding frost effect in the menus

Yup - you will find some similarities. We want Frostpunk to feel like an 11 bit studios game. It's different on almost every level - but it still delivers a powerful message and evokes a lot of emotions.
Interesting to see that originally you were able to abolish certain laws, I wonder which other laws you could abolish as well depending on certain events
It's a small detail but I really love the trails citizens leave in the snow :)

I loved 'This War Of Mine' thank you from the bottom of my heart for making a city builder/survival/RTS style experience. There are so few good games out there these days for us RTS veterans. Between this, They Are Billions & Spell Force 3 I am feeling spoiled.
Any comment on how exploration/ scavenging in the world is supposed to work?

I am very interested in this game. Like This War of Mine, I feel the story and emotions that you are eliciting with these games are only possible in video games. By having people make decisions that affect (albeit virtual) others, you're adding a whole new layer of emotive depth to the situation. With a novel or a film, the experience is passive. With a game, you are an active participant, and things that happen because of you always have greater emotional impact. Keep up the good work!

W koncu panowie w koncu ! Ilez mozna czekac :) mam nadzieje ze gra bedzie jeszcze bardziej epicka niz TWoM. Teraz jeszcze tylko Cyberpunk 2077 i bede szczesliwy. Ciesze sie ze w koncu polskie ekipy pokazaly srodkowy palec Ubi ;)
I am following this game since the moment I heard about it - TWOM has been one of my favorites! I really hope that, like in TWOM, there will be more than just 1 or even 2 maps to play on! It's one of the most crucial elements in this genre for replayability and knowing there's more to discover :)

Basically, the whole campaign will be longer and more complex than your first playthrough in TWOM. There will be some other options that will increase replayability - but we don't want to spoil them for now. ;)

So - the City is not so small, to be honest! There's quite a lot of buildings in the late game. But of course - you won't be building a huge metropolis here. You try to survive, not to build some kind of Neo-Tokio. ;) So we understand your concerns - but you have to consider that it's society survival game first, city builder (close) second.

Hey I thought of a very interesting mechanic within the game if you wanna have a online mode.
It’s the same as before but the places that scouts go to can be used as other settlements, eventually you might stumble across other player settlements that you can either ally yourself with or go to war with, though neither you or the other player knows exactly where the main city is until you make an alliance with them.
We could have a full on war between cities that chose order and ones that chose faith, automatons could be used for military purposes as well and there could be buildings you need to build to make armies and weapons.
It was just a thought I had really

11 bit studios so my favorite thing was the theme and how it incorporates into the gameplay. I like how the bottom line, is to ensure the survival of the city. To basically save your people. Most games ignore reality and just put a correct or good and evil system.
This game isnt about that. Its about saving your people in an unforgiving enviorment, and making hard choices balancing hope vs function.
One example for me was implementing child labor and chrematory. Childlabor brought the hope down and pissed people off. But it gave me the extra labor i needed to help get base neccessities up quickly.
Then people died. I could of just left their bodies in the snow to save time and cost. But investing in a chrematory for a proper burial brought back some hope. Its a balancing act in an unforgiving enviorment.
As a survival fan I like that rare aspect. Plus the game just looks stunning.

Hmmm jeżeli to tak bardzo ma być o przetrwaniu w zimie Czemu budynki i generalnie miasteczko nie jest zaprojektowane tak by jak najwięcej energii(słonecznej) pozyskać(ciepła) i jak najmniej go tracić. Jako że obecnie wyglądają przynajmniej w trailerze jakby technologia była na gdzieś na poziomie rewolucji przemysłowej. Będzie jakiś rozwój tego miasteczka w kierunku nowoczesności(a nie tylko ciągłego rośnięcia i wykorzystywania zasobów)?
Ale co by nie pisać. Gra wygląda dobrze i na pewno jest w ciekawym "klimacie" :3
Ja sobie położenie miasteczka w kraterze wyjaśniłem że to dla ochrony przed wiatrem.
Gra rozgrywa się w alternatywnej wersji XIX wieku, stąd wygląd rewolucji przemysłowej. :) Sporo designów i mechanik opieramy na wydarzeniach historycznych, dodając do tego garść swojej fantazji. ;)

The world and setting looks really interesting, but I would love to see some more gameplay.
There are already some let's plays available out there - and we are working on some new materials as well. :)
Finally some footage though can we choose our form of government over the city or do we just have to manage some sort of popularity counter?
