I love this, but I am a little concerned about the weight of the dice. How even is the weight with 'assumed' uneven weight on the inside of the die?

Could that be because the bluetooth electronics are on the 1 causing it to be unbalanced?
@@bryanfoster362 He both say and show in the video that they did testing to balance them correctly, so most likely no :)
I would actually buy these, probably the only fancy set I would buy.

Unlike most "fancy" sets, these ones can be rolled like normal dice based on this video, and that alone makes me way more interested than any other fancy set I've seen (I have a couple of gemstone D20s but as display pieces only, they're too delicate to really use)
Looking into their kickstarter, I didn't realize that the hardware is opensource too! Means that you can essentially use the plans to custom build your own, whether you try and blow it up big or simplify it to being a set that says the numbers out loud.

They're gonna sell so much of these (and they deserve every sale, it's a great idea)
Also, the aurora one might be more readable if they (or the buyer) paint the numbers, or block the light on them somehow

@@raf.raf. Maybe put a thin opaque coat over the numbers to slightly mute them? That's easily a future feature or option.
SMART DICE!!! Having rolls immediately send to a twitch bot would be so useful, I’m sure there are some clever coders out there that are already on it. Can’t wait to see what you do when you make customs with these electronics!!

5:59 You know what could be funny ? Everytime you get a nat 20 instead of saying the number it starts celebrating and when you get a 1 the dice starts laughing at you, it would be so hilarious
They have a sad fanfare noise that you can use. It's like a sad trombone for if you get a 1 haha :)

Just backed the kickstarter! These are super cool! I love that it reads the numbers to you, as someone with dyscalculia that is a game changer
These are so awesome! I got mine right away, couldn't halp it. I love dice much more than I should, my collection is so damn huge, I love LED stuff and playing around with it, so this is the PERFECT combination!
As I prepare to embark on my dice making journey today (got the pressure pot, air compressor and supplies) thanks to the awesomeness that is Rybonator, I've also pledged for a set plus one for me and my roommate. 😁

Thank you for reviewing these as soon as I have the money to donate to the kickstarter I am going to try and get a players set for my visually impaired son. eh will absolutely love the functionality of these and these are ideal for him. I cant wait for him to see these he enjoys our gaming sessions and these will make it much easier for him to play. I think i am as excited for these as you were to get your hands on them. Id also love to take the time to thank you for your videos I work in a small school district and host a gamers club there where I will use a lot of your videos to make dice for the students as I am looking forward to getting into making dice and other items as well as teaching others of like interests in the area to. Thanks again for your videos and this one especially I have been looking for a project lit this for my son it is perfect and please thank you friend as well for developing these. I will defiantly be saving up to help fund these.

Wait I can actually physically roll dice in my roll20 games without going against the rules keeping everyone honest? Well now I need them.
Well, except for the part where you can just set them down on the face you want and they'll report "You rolled X" via BT. This is still less "secure" than roll20, but if players can't trust each other to not cheat, they need a new group anyway.
@@datonkallandor8687 it prevents fudging which I think people are more likely to do. But doesn't prevent cheating. So if you trust your players a bit, but not completely it might be a good choice. Or if you are all on webcam then it would be about as secure.

I saw these very briefly in Ginny Di's latest collection tour and thought I wanted them then. Now this was in my recommendations, and I need these!! I'm definitely buying them when they become available (didn't catch the kickstarter unfortunately)

This looks so cool. One of the things I miss about playing online is that the neat physical dice I have don't get used, but this would change that. The Roll20 integration is fantastic and with the code being open source it's possible for others to make mods to add integration with other virtual tabletops, if the developers of the dice don't do that themselves.

Hey Rybonator, the onyx dice you reviewed and the onyx dice on their kickstarter page don't look the same. The ones in your video have holo glitter, but the onyx dice on the Pixels page don't. Is that just because of Jean's camera, or did you actually get a Midnight Sky d20 maybe? Or will the final onyx not look like the one you got?
I think I got a trial set that might have been somewhat inbetween ideas. He made the 2 d20's that I got a WHILE back, so I'm sure their designs have changed and improved :) Base your purchases on what THEIR images look like, not mine :)
I’m in Love! I’m checking out the Kickstarter now but I can almost guarantee that I can not afford them.
I loved the Aurora ones until they were rolled. I definitely think the black has the better reading ability.
And since I play multiple campaigns, one with the original Rule set where for the majority of the game 1 is good and 20 is bad these would be awesome to customise them.
I want to get one of these and then pull sound bites of the critical role cast saying roll numbers and pair them to that number on the die. This is such a cool idea!

Im looking forward to you making some of these. I think it might look good if the numbers are a solid color (plastic or paint) and the light shines around it. That way you can still have the glowing orb of magic without loosing visibility.
You would have a less bright ball, BUT the tradeoff with being able to read it would be rad :)
