- How to change steering wheel on a Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212. The procedure is same on most mb models. Important you do all steps properly. This was done on a E220 2016 model previous taxi with 570.000 kilometer driven.
No fault codes occur when you disconnect the battery before you start, also is important for safety reasons. The engine lamp is from before, is a fault on the NOx sensor I need to change out. But the car runs good anyway so I have not stressed with that.
This is my new ride for now. Former taxi cab from the capital in Sweden (Stockholm) I think I may have been used mostly for airport rides 70 km single way. 570.000 kilometer total around 26 kilometer each day since it was new.
It has been on regular service at mb 17 times and gearbox oil has been change two times.

Very nice. My W212 is from 2010 and have 490kkm. When I do steering wheel, straight away change for a 3 spoke from 2014. Looks great its well.

Mine too! But the estates are VERY rare in Brazil... The only one being sold right now in the whole country is an E63 AMG, way beyond my budget (and driving skills) haha

I have a 2013 pre-facelift Avantgarde estate with an AMG steering wheel and I love it! This is a great video and I’ll do a swap whenever I get another 212. They are great cars, shame about the air suspension leaking, just as the previous generation did!

Thanks for the useful and quick video. FYI, it's not best practice to use a torque wrench to loosen. It's best to use it only to tighten stuff. I assume you used the torque wrench to loosen it because you had nothing else. Cheers

Nice. I have the pre facelift model 2011. Do you know if it works if I swap the steering wheel with the facelift model like 2014? Also mine is the 63 AMG I am worried that the paddle shifters might be different

Actually never worked with cars and kinda learned most when I got the first 212. I search info from other videos, forums and also I have access to mb documents how things should be done! But sometime I just try figure things out and redo it for video.

I don't think it's recommended to undo the hex bolt completely whilst trying to remove the steering wheel. If the steering wheel is stuck, and you try jerking on it, I think it could break free and hit you in the face.

@@MB212 At 1:35 when you remove the hex bot holding the steering wheel, it is not recommended to completely remove the bolt. Instead it's wiser to loosen the bolt, but not remove it completely. At that point, pull up on the steering wheel and free it, and then remove the bolt, so that if it's stuck and you pull on on it, it won't fly off.
