That Detroit is a beast. Man you took that tranny out quick with no help.. You alway's let us what your doing and that's what makes your Channel so enjoyable. keep them video's coming.. I tell all my friends that i have a friend that is a pilot that that flies 747 and works on semi trucks blind folded. Two Thumbs Up ''' James Pretty ''' Stay Safe & God Bless
Go for it if you can. I don't mean to be a killjoy, just got my practical head on. I think that particular 12v is so different from the truck version that you're setting yourself a whole lot more difficulties than there should be.
Well... I had to laugh at you James due to the fact you got pissed taking out the drive shaft.... I live in upstate NY... 1.5 hrs from the Canadian border.... our trucks bathe in salt and no matter how much antiseize you use I'm always torching them apart! All those cabovers were crushed 20+ yrs ago around here.... this is one of the biggest reasons I watch your channel and others that are down to earth like you.... appreciate the effort and content brother
i think you should look into putting a stop on the end of your forks to make sure the chains can't slide off. would suck to drop a transmission or a motor... drill a hole, tap it, and put a ball on it. that way you can also use it to move a trailer with the forklift.
Good progress James. It looked to me that you certainly got your full day's quota of lying on the ground while wielding a hammer, as well as the requisite minor injuries. If it doesn't fit without wrecking Krystal, please put it in that rough as a bear's arse Freightliner I think you should build.
Sorry about your head damage other than that nice video wating on next one to drop to see if that's detroit will fit. All that amazing work you are doing it hope it figs if not rebuild time on the kitty cat
James I live in Sarasota,Fl , Do you have a shift linkage for a freightliner cabover I could purchase its the one that connects to the trans, about 2 feet long I have looked everywhere!!!!
Hi, I'm kinda knew to your channel . I know it's none of my business , but where do you find the time , and the finances for all these truck projects ? How many do you have going now 4 or 5 ? Do you plan on keeping , or selling them ? Just curious, work smart not hard . THX Mr. Petty !
I bet Kenworth could run the VIN numbers on Trisha and Krystal and would find build sheets for those. I know someone on Facebook who has a lot of the freightliner build sheets and could possibly do the two orange Freightliners and more likely could do the black freightliner. He 80% sure he could get build sheets of at least one of those if you gave him the VIN numbers.
Hey you should sandblast the frame and paint it I would leave the duels on there I would put air ride airbags instead of springs it's a lot smoother ride with airbags
This is getting interesting! I myself have a feeling that 12V is going to be too tall, but I hope I’m wrong. Won’t know till you set it in the frame. Too bad you tangled with the frame there that’s hard on you. Can’t wait to see next time! Hope I’m wrong.
@@JamesPretty You’re gonna give it your best shot! It just looks too tall to me. But the only 12v I’ve ever seen in real life didn’t have all of that stuff on top of it. But like I said hope I’m wrong. A friend drove an old Brockway cab over that I believe was a 12V71 and it was mighty close clearances in the frame and cab. It’s definitely gonna be interesting. So it’ll have an air throttle on it. What kinda of transmission will take that torque? 18 speed?
@@JamesPretty I guess you’ll have to take it one step at a time. But it takes time to get it done right. Clutch and flywheel may cause some problems it sounds like. Can’t wait till the next video!
if it all works out, Krystal is going to be a baller truck with the 12V92. with the right gears this could be a 100 mile an hour truck. gas mileage is not going to be a consideration anyway :)
@@JamesPretty that's cool to know you guys talk love both your channels and of course bruce and gentrys channels. Can't wait to see if that big old Detroit fits im not a massive fan of Detroit that's only because there isn't many over here in the states all my boss truck and my k100 are either Cummins or CAT but enjoying the build though looking mint

It's really gonna happen! That big 12V is goin' into Krystal. Way to go James! Now I understand why you put them big tires on her...

I don’t disagree, there really isn’t a truck version of the 12v92 tho so if I want it I gotta force it ya know. But it is a ton of work for sure
I certainly hope so!

I’ve been dreaming of a 12v92 big bunk KW. So I’m gonna do my best to make it happen.
What sucks is goin hub pilot and super singles new brakes seals and such rebuilding diff but staying spring ride.Is your last name Polish?

Take your time and be safe. You can probably pull that Luberfiner out of your way. You won't need it with the Detroit.
Never got to see the beginning of what was actually wrong with the cat engine.
Going to be awesome with that big 12vin it
I think it was just a bad injector or a bad pump or cylinder. Not 100% sure

Might be. But I’m not scared to make modifications if they aren’t in too precarious a spot

Is that bigger motor going to fit in that truck they're going to have clearance for everything
It’s likely not going to fit without modifying stuff. But we’ll see. Gotta get some mounts and get it sitting in there before I’ll know how extensive
Dang had to bust out the torch
Yep some times it’s gotta happen. I didn’t want to

I understand the mystique of a v 12 Detroit, but a cat in that truck would be cool too,& a whole lot easier!

Not sure I like that idea. Initially I wanted it but what happens if it takes off running while you’re going down the road
