I find the actual hotel design to be beautiful and really cozy but I agree the rooms are dated and need a bit of an upgrade. However, seeing the new Marvel hotel and how aggressively overdesigned and corporate the new rooms look, I'll take the 80s kitsch any day.

Honestly, I am shocked that the bathroom light had three bulbs out. Moreover, that couch had no business being in a cheap roadside hotel forget an actual Disney property. Disney is - supposed- to be known for its attention to detail. This just shows what happens when leadership takes their eye off the customer experience. Let’s see if Iger does better.

As a kid I stayed with my parents in the hotel in late 1996 right after a fire that started in the kitchen damaged the bar, the tavern and a couple of rooms, 1500 people had to be evacuated and some sections were closed off due to the fire and water damage. Due to the extend of the damage, we were given free food vouchers for the entire stay at the hotel as a compensation. It is wild to see the hotel again after all these years and even the sections that were closed off at the time. Rooms were basically almost brand new back then as it opened in 1992.

I have to say, I’m actually surprised at the current state of the hotel. I stayed at Cheyenne a little over 1 year ago, because Sequoia Lodge was closed for renovation. Seeing your video, it looks like they’ve really not done that much. It’s a shame, because it’s my favorite Disney hotel.

We stayed at Cheyenne last March and we were lucky as it had recently been renovated, so it was spot on. It has a cowboy Toy Story theme which my daughter loved. We had a 10 minute walk in with our daughter in a pushchair and enjoyed the walk along the river each day. We opted for half board for food, and opted to eat in your hotel one night, which was lovely. I do recommend the Cheyenne if you ever revisit.

that buffet has a real feel of "we dont care". Everything looked so tired. At that price ( room and buffet alone) I would expect an omelet bar. It is a glorified Holiday Inn with a lot of added noise and sparkle. Holiday Inn breakfast looks much more thoughtful the HI rooms, usually as nice. When you buy in to Disney you buy in to a trapped, super mall experience. Whole lot of nope for me.

Well the only part of this that made me feel excited was the Earl of Sandwich!
Good food for a decent price.
The Disney Hotel did look very dated & not at all what I expected.
You room was like straight out of the 1950's!
Especially the cabinet with the TV it looked like one of the TV's made by Readyfusion!
The furniture was very similar to the Worst Rated Hotels you've visited & the decor was just like the 1950's all those browns & old fashioned bed covers.
Very disappointing I guess for Disney fans tho Casper didn't seem to mind🤣he was enjoying himself as always & having a good crawl about like a little roadrunner 😃
    Those Light switches definitely old!
I didn't like the fact it was a smoking Hotel especially for Disney that's not what you'd expect.
Tho I suppose in France smoking is allowed indoors!
I'm so glad we got the indoor smoking Ban in the UK!
The cost of that Hotel was definitely to expensive & that coffee machine was grim!
The Bar & Lounge downstairs did look warm & homely & abit more modern.
The swimming pool was abit small but looked rather cheerful.
But that Sofa😱looked like it had been thru a War!
The only thing that looked remotely like Disney was the photoshoot area with Mini Mouse!
I guess the hotel was busy not so much because people rave about the Hotel, more the fact it's next to the Disneyland Park in Paris.
Personally I'd rather go to Paris🗼
But Disneyland should be a great place to celebrate Caspers Birthday?
Hope Casper really enjoyed his 1st Birthday!
I can imagine he had a wonderful time!
Looking forward to seeing what the actual Disneyland Park in Paris is like😊

We stayed there in about 2015, paid the extra for a golden forest lodge room as we thought we'd get the best we could afford at the time, the fact that they laid on snacks in the afternoon in the breakfast room was nice, plus it also meant that you could go to breakfast at any time which is so much easier.
One extra thing we did was as we went via Eurostar and wanted to get to the park as early as possible I had the excellent idea of having two nights in Paris before the stay and one night afterwards, this meant we could get up later to get to the park and leave as late as we wanted to do on the last day. We got a full day sightseeing in Paris, and made the holiday that much more special.
We even lucked out when we got to Sequoia Lodge as despite being there really early (10:00 at the latest I think) are room was ready and we could go right to it, bit of a pain that we'd already put all our stuff in left luggage at the hotel and had to immediately get it back out again!

Of course a major factor in the hotel price was the location, and it was clean with an updated bathroom and comfy beds, but paying that much I'd be disappointed that the room was dated and worn. If this hotel is mid-priced, I wonder what the cheapest Disney rooms are like.

  • @tomawest
    @tomawest Год назад +3

We stayed there last year and will be doing so again this year. I agree it is a bit dated in the room but the rest of the hotel is decent. The rooms themselves are really large and excellent for a family of 4.
We found the cheaper hotels to have better theming inside the rooms but the room space is a lot smaller with bunk beds for the kids.
I would imagine the hotels are better at the more expensive ones however we just see a Disney hotel as a bed for the night and for that reason we felt this one is the best for us.
We could have stayed off property but by the time you add park tickets and transportation in, it's not much difference. Plus you lose a ton of time to travelling to the parks and I reckon £ per min in the parks, they are probably going to be more expensive

Food was expensive there, drinks at the bar were expensive, the room was expensive. The room is very spartan and unimpressive. The only advantage of staying here is the location. The McDonald's behind it might be even cheaper, but it was always full of people so we didn't even try to get there. If you want to get something from the nearby shopping centre Val d'Europe, check for the shuttle bus or take the train but don't ask the concierge to order a taxi. The hand-picked hotels are probably a better option and the majority offer free shuttle to the park. Can't wait for Friday's vlog!

I’ve stayed at the same style hotel at California Adventure in Disneyland. The hotel in California is much nicer and larger, the rooms are so much more attractive and cleaner. The room rates are about the same and also includes park tickets.

I think these hotels are fantastic if you have children simply due to the fact it’s so accessible for the parks, but not convinced I’d stay here due to the sheer volume of kids.
The theming of the rooms in this hotel isn’t anywhere near as strong as I’d thought - I always expected Disney resorts to feel really luxurious, so surprised to see that this doesn’t seem too special…

  • @oggie1967

We’ve stayed at the Sequoia twice, once when it was newly opened when there was just the two of us, then again when the kids were wee & we loved that cozy feel to it!
We also stayed at the New York hotel when the children were older but whilst it was good it just felt a bit sterile compared with the Sequoia!
Quite surprised that the rooms are showing their age, Disney are normally pretty good at maintenance, especially in the USA!
Thanks for the jog down memory lane!👍❤😊

This was an interesting one tim. I’ve been to Disneyland paris 3 times now, the last time I stayed in hotel cheyanne, lightly Toy Story themed. Luckily we had a Starbucks attached to the side of the hotel, we ended up getting our breakfast and pre buying our lunch there, was much cheaper! We found our hotel to be very dated too. Unfortunately we ended up having a bit of a disaster there with some of the staff, but otherwise, it was an okay experience, the expense of the whole thing has put me off going for a while though.

I'm struggling to remember which hotel I stayed at as an "ironic" visiting student in the early 90s. Me and my friend went on a coach trip and we paid extra for the breakfast. My friend had been gifted the basic trip by the coach company (she was so lucky!) and we were so excited to go. I have a feeling it was Sequoia too, either that or Cheyenne, but of course Cheyenne is unrecognizable now with its wild west Toy Story theme. I do remember all the beige... And the Mickey Mouse waffles! The expensive price back then was because Mickey and Minnie would visit during breakfast, so there were lots of very excited kids.
30 years later, I kinda thought I would have had kids and gone back, but it wasn't to be. At least overgrown child me got to go. I loved it!

Hello Tim and Gaby and Holly and Casper
Pity these hotels don't see the value of keeping the money in the hotel and provide different levels of catering. Lucky there was an outside choice. Still..it all seems just a choice of stodge. So out of date but memorable💝😘

    Move over Tim...Gabby is great!
I think the hotels age leans into the whole lodge feel.... The lounge/bar area seemed too busy, people sat on suitcases!?
We went for a looong day about 8 years ago, and I (didn't like Disney before) loved it!
I'd definitely stay here, just for the lodge vibes.
Great vlog, you're making an impact on me, because there was an article in the M.E.N about a hotel you'd stayed at and I instinctively thought of you! Lol!
