    Hope Dr Vaknin uploads the recovery from the NPD abuse part, too. I believe this is the most clear and detailed explanation of narcissism on RUclips. All his videos are brilliant 👏

    Each time when i tried to get a narcissist to watch a video from Professor Sam channel, they seem to have very little interest. A normal person goes from decent interest to mind blowing interest. Attention to this topic became like a test. Always on point.

    My spouse believes that if he sees us that we can see him. It doesn't matter if there is a door, wall, or curtain blocking our view. In therapy, he said that he comes in the house quietly and waits for us to acknowledge him. The therapist asked why he does that since it scares us. He said, "Well, I drive up to the yard and can see them through the window, so they should know I'm there." At night, you can't see out if our windows and I have curtains.
    Im also visually impaired. He can see when Im not wearing my glasses. I've gotten the silent treatment so many times for not responding to him, standing in a space too far away for me to see without glasses. He won't make a noise, just gets angry.
    I am so happy you mentioned the memory gaps! The internet contributes behaviors resulting from them as planned out and intentional behaviors. Occasionally they are intentional, however, the memory gaps seem to be one of his biggest motivations for communication deprivation with family members, what I perceive as lies, and lack of identity. Some of his biggest abusive behaviors! He has only a handful of stories from his entire life.
    Thank you for really digging into these topics and connecting the dots! It's so far out there that non-npd brains cannot understand it.

He is now 22 and has grown into the most wonderful man and the whole diagnosis was total shit!!!

    The incessant search for mother describes a family member so precisely its scary. In fact it's probably textbook. Attaches weirdly to all our deceased mothers actual friends, those that are still alive. It's obsessive in fact.

    Question Prof. Vaknin. What are the key differences between a narcissist vs. someone with narcissistic traits? Do people with narcissistic traits also devalue and discard? Can people with narcissistic traits be healed. Thank you for all you do. You are appreciated beyond words.

    Prof. Vaknin - can a person develop serious narcisistic personality disorder in a later stage of life, for example after 60 yrs old or so. Prior to that they had some narcisistic traits, however mild. I watched a lot of your lectures, did not come across any mention. Thank you for your answer.

    Dr Sam, I recently left what I suspect is a narcissist but perhaps also a psychopath because he has very detailed fantasies (almost like a movie, full script) about killing people who have slighted him and others who have nothing to do with him (road rage, ex partners of his "friends" ex co workers), wants to see women and girls raped etc. This man verbalises these detailed ideas to others as well as in front of me and his children. Why? is this to frighten us, to make himself appear formidable? to me it is insane, demonic and just plain weird. Is he a closet homosexual?

    Do people who would not classify as Narcissists (the people who only show narcissistic traits, aka "a-holes") also live within a shared fantasy and go through the idealization - discard cycle?

    • @samvaknin

      No.

      @DeckardKain1992 22 дня назад +4

      @@samvaknin If I feel like we lived through a shared fantasy, but I would rather attribute her to the "a-hole" type of person, would that mean that theres a good change I am a narcissist?
      Because the relationship very much resembled a shared fantasy.
      I know you cannot make a diagnosis. I'm just trying to explore this world.
