Sometimes one take is better than the other, but you might just want to make a tweak to it, it happens all the time. Doesn't mean they can't replicate the non-exaggerated parts live.
They’ve been very open about the auto tune on Believe and did it as a tribute as Cher was the first to use it. I have some Pentatonix suggestions: Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Hallelujah ( their biggest hit so far), Amazing Grace and Bohemian Rhapsody. Thanks guys!
Very true on Hallelujah, there's only over 600 million views. Plus, it has a great Mitch slap. However, they are not ready for the ultimate Mitch slap. Which is Aha! Singapore star vista. @@theshadowfax239 She was the first to use the software called AutoTune, which was invented in 1997 (her song "Believe" came out in 1998) and finally enabled not only fast and accurate pitch alterations but also for the first time allowed live performances to be altered on the fly. You're thinking about pitch correction / pitch bending, which is actually a different (albeit related) way of doing things, and it was extremely difficult to do, was tedious and incredibly expensive. It was also extremely limited all the way until the late 70s (when computers started to appear on the scene, and producers could finally see the music/vocals in wave form which made pitch issues much easier to spot) because changing things TOO much resulted in sound artifacts, so it's usefulness was rather limited. It also mostly involved removing the off-pitch parts and splicing in new samples that were either the correct pitch or altered by speeding up or slowing down the new sample to properly match, or re-pitching the entire vocal recording / entire track completely. About 95% of their covers they use no instruments or auto tune. Its all them, this 90s dance medley just so happen to fall in the 5% category when they used auto tune briefly to pay tribute to believe.

Nice to see you blokes reacting to Pentatonix. You will be absolutely gobsmacked after you hear their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. To get a taste of how they sound live, please check out their American music awards performance of the Star Wars medley live. They are introduced by Harrison Ford.
After seeing their live performances and other songs that don't use autotune, I can say that songs that they now use autotune on doesn't phase me. I would recommend seeing a live performance if you want to ultimately assess them, but yea... it's incredible.
IMO if typical bands can use studio tricks to modify the sounds of their instruments, acapella groups can do the same thing AS LONG AS they can sound similar live. Pentatonix absolutely can pull off all these arrangements live.
