Kirstie's hair in this GIVES ME LIFE! I tried so hard in the 90s to use a spiral curler etc to get those ringlets and it was always a total fail.

I know you two were wondering how they made some of the sounds in this video. They used more studio audio tricks in this recording than they ever have before. This was intentional as an homage to the sound of the 90s. Especially the use of autotune in Believe, which was a tribute to Cher because she was the first artist to use autotune in that song as an artistic effect instead of a corrective measure. The release of this caught even the most ardent Pentaholics by surprise because almost nobody knew they had even recorded this. There has been nothing more officially really said about it from the group, so a lot of people are wondering what they're up to. There were 17 songs in this medley, so that has me believing that this was just a promo for a new 90s Dance Music covers album featuring full versions of ALL of these songs. BTW, I think Kirstie may be J-Lo's long-lost daughter!!
They used for the "Cher effect"
I do Believe (see what I did there) that this was the one and only time they used auto-tune, and it was used more as an homage than out of necessity. It's kind of like the prop megaphone that Mitch used in Bohemian Rhapsody to produce the electric guitar riffs.

I heard a story recently. I don't know how much is true, but this is what I heard. So autotune came out in the 90's and was and it used to slightly tweak a singers voice to fix minor errors and such. later it was used by some no talent people to sound good even though they couldn't actually sing, but at first it was only used subtly. Well a sound engineer was showing Cher that feature when she noticed that he was only moving the slider a tiny bit. Curious she asked what would happen if he turned it all the way up. The guy showed her and that now classic 'wobble' effect was the result. According to the story, Cher thought the effect was super cool and actually wrote 'believe' fully intending that have that wobble effect featured in the song. It was the first time autotune was used in a way that was _supposed to be_ noticeable. Most singers didn't want anyone to know they used it.Cher wasn't worried though, she was a famous singer a good 30 years before that software existed.
Yep, they called it "The Cher Effect". Unfortunately, now just about everyone uses it and frankly OVER uses it. That's because most so-called "artists" in the music industry today can't even actually sing. At least Pentatonix (who usually NEVER uses it) used it tastefully in this medley.
Cher didn’t write Believe but the rest is a fact
She did write the arrangement she performed, but you are correct that she didn't write the actual song itself. By writing the arrangement, I mean the auto-tune effect used in the song in the way in which it was used. That does change the flavor of the song immensely.
Y'all have to do their rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. Instant classic of a classic.

Hey, I was born in the Eisenhower administration. My wife and I still rocked out to these songs in our mid thirties and still love them today. I recognized every song in this. My favorite was Boom Boom.

I don't know if you know this song, but a few years back (I think 2015 or 2016) they did this song called 'Stars'. They were a featured artist on the finding neverland album (some musical that played on Broadway back then, the teacher from Glee had the main role in that musical I think). When I heard that song for the first time I immediately knew this was the titlesong to the movie about my life. It's not technically a 'PTX Original' but we all just view it as that. (the only time someone else sang that song was in that musical, so PTX is unofficially the original artist singing it...) I love that song so much a got one of the lyrics tattooed on my arm.
Since you've already listened to a lot of their stuff on your own, I recommend you react to Stars, my favorite hidden PTX gem.
