Dankrhythm has always, in just two minutes, summed up most of what I've always hoped Foals would be. Same goes for Glaciers, Unthink This, Gold Gold Gold, Titan Arum, Sketch For ESG, and those Future Dubs. Kinda feel it's too late now.
Yes. I completely agree. I've been listening to them for a while and I'm still finding new (not really new) things I have never heard before. They all have such a different sound from the albums. The ones that kind of sound like Antidotes still are pretty different and that's super cool
+Fryderyk Philips I'm sure it was just a place-holder name for one of the tracks on Total Life Forever. It was so long ago I can't remember which track it was. But I'm pretty sure that was the case. In the same way that when they were playing small shows before the release of Holy Fire, 'Prelude' was known as 'Pavlov' & 'Providence' was known as 'Cleaver'.
the only version of death surf that you can listen to is in the tlf doc! it was definitely a song which they previewed at like two shows, along with tracks such as o-funk and the early very antidotesy version of alabaster
Miles is right. They only ever played the song in full once and I was lucky enough to be there, heaven nightclub in London. I actually tweeted Edwin about it years ago and he pretty much said back then it’s not happening. It was such a good track, probably my favourite I ever heard
Very interesting that you were there Chris! As I tracked down the nme review confirming the track name. In comparison O-Funk actually got quite a few plays back in 09. Can you confirm it is the one from the TLF doc that everyone speculates ? Also was it a song or an instrumental jam i.e. YYYYY?
I like these kinds of "musical sketches" before the final versions. They carry a certain mood.
This is still what i put on most mornings before work, thanks Mark!

they need to release a demo album more than every other band.

I wish they would play their B-sides, even unknown small venus would be the shit! thanks for providing this.

These tunes are so chilling. I love it.
Is it just me, or does the third track sound like an early idea for This Orient?

bassline kinda gives it away
Krakowfunk reminds me of SimCity 4 and orange juice
