NOTE : Forgive and Forget for some of the stereotypical language used. Do point out if you find something off for future reference
About the food being unhealthy :
So a lil bg, i am from punjab and was born and raised in a comparable modern town and will speak from personal experience.
Punjabi food is in general considered very unhealthy by american standards, but the same food was eaten by sikh ancestors who were one of the physically strongest people in the world.
Similarly, even today, the closer you are to the roots of traditional culture , the more physically fit and strong people I have come across.
I dont know how much this point contributes as you could definitely attribute the strong physique to genes of punjabi ancestors, so do share your thoughts if you get the time. Feel free to call me stupid if you think it doesnt make sense.

    Hey,
So as with Sikhi I believe there are levels to this.
    Amritdari sikhs are vegetarian.
It was a hukam of Guru Gobind Singh ji to not eat halal meat for the reasons you state, the lack of compassion and the pain caused to the animal.
In terms of whether you as a sikh (non-amritdari) eat meat is a personal decision. Remembering the ultimate goal for a sikh is to remove the sense of self and realise waheguru, you need to question why you eat meat. If its a 'I love the taste' etc. Then that's coming from the sense of I and falls into the relationship of ties you have to the material world.
So in the same way growing your Kesh is a way of letting go of the material world, such is the same for the food we eat. A very simple daal dinner is you eating because you must not because its what you long for.
Obviously circumstances also dictate this, such as being in war etc.
For the record. I also eat meat 😅. But we're all on the journey right ❤

      interesting!
hey, there! first of all thank you for the info + for watching.
re: meat i don't think any of us on the team have strong feelings//convictions about it one way or another outside of the wellbeing of animals. i know i could take it or leave it + be just fine, which, if i had to guess, based on previous conversations, is about how the rest of the team feels. :0)
"growing your Kesh is a way of letting go of the material world," is a new one. i've heard a lot of reasons for keeping Kesh, including the opposite of the aforementioned statement but that's a new one. i would think cutting one's hair would be letting go of the material world. not sure how keeping it is. but that's certainly given me something to think about it!
Definitely going to share this w| the team + the BxS Discord to hear what others think about this perspective.
thanks again for watching + responding. :0)

@BlackxSikh loving your content btw. It's great!
Re Kesh. So the idea behind cutting ones here is to care about your appearance and how you're perceived. And so you're going against the natural order of things. The natural order of things would be your hair growing.
We as humans tame this and shape this into what we believe is desirable ... and so cutting your hair is grounded in a sense of I and what I want and how I want to look.
Whereas growing your hair is more of a letting go. Thinking being, the guru will grow my hair and make it look how it does. I won't interfere with that. And so it encourages you to let go of what the world thinks and embrace the guru's natural order ❤️
That being said, we do have the kanga. This is again to signify the balance between living in this world to function, but also to be fighting internal battles of selflessness and individuality. So we accept that our hair grows, bur also present ourselves in a presentable way in the world to live.
Keep doing what you guys do. Guru Kirpa ❤️👌🏼🙏🏼
