no privacy, people always staring at your house or taking photos, living here can be difficult with the traffic and congestion just like lombard street

I no longer reside in San Francisco but when I did that was a sad thing about the Alamo Square ladies, the beautiful mansions on Lombard Street, and even Robin Williams's Seacliff house. You could always tell he was in residence when the shades had to be drawn.

In a normal life, as we had pre covid, it might be a nightmare to live in this house, people, traffic and everything else BUT SF changed. Most of wealthy moved to Austin tx, and only the ghetto stays looking for the glamour that once the city had. Not worth the money anymore. SF was magnificent till late 2009. I'm glad I left the city before it became a shit whole cuz my friends can't even sell their houses and move out.

As I watched this video I was reminiscing about the painted lady that I lived in at 814 Steiner Street (next block down the street - there's a collection of these houses, but don't get the attention of the "seven sisters - looks more like six to me). I was remembering the plaster-work, crown molding, original woodwork and doors, the antique bath fixtures and kitchen, hardwood floors and the very homey feeling that I had while living there. When I saw how this house was ruined and had none of the ambiance of the house I lived in I was shocked. Restore a newel post, save a marble mantel and hardware on the pocket door, but otherwise create an antiseptic and unappealing atmosphere where you wouldn't want to sit on the furniture or bend down so far to access a useless drawer at floor level. This was not a restoration, but a modern remodeling of a once stately and historic home. Sorry, it's an abomination.

The old kitchen, featured on Homes With Style on The Style Channel in the late 1990s, was much more beautiful. It is a shame that many of those features were removed. Same for the bathrooms.

I don’t see the point of restorations when kitchens and bathrooms have to be modern and state of the art to be comfortable. After all that is what museums are for NOT to live in. San Fran is so crowded and overrated. Every time I return from my business visits, I always appreciate my brand new single level spacious house so much more!
