    Hi Kevin. Always grateful for your work. I am an artist, so be glad that I'm not walking beside you, or I'd be constantly saying, "Oh, please stop here so I can do a sketch!!!" Your videos bring me so much joy. Hugs from Canada.

      I was told by a family member in the UK that a lot of people lease expensive vehicles these days rather than buy one. I guess if they can afford the payment for a while they can look like they have money 😂

    Heartbreaking and disgusting. My family lived for 6 yrs there until 1969 when forced to emigrate to Australia. It was a working, farming community owned by Sir Donald Anderson and managed by farm manager and laborers, and had a blacksmith and ..post office and bus connection to Grammar school in Northleach and Secondary School in Bourton on the Water. The farm was thriving.

      'Forced to'? Come, come..
      My father had an awful start in life, growing up in an orphanage near Liverpool from the age of 3 after his mother died in childbirth and his father was murdered. Poorly educated, left school at 14.
      But he earned reasonable money at Vauxhall car-makers, my mum also worked part-time and they raised 4 children in a detached house in a pleasant village that (crucially) had an excellent state school. 2 of their children went to university, 1 did university-level professional training and the 4th had a military career followed by owning his own business.
      My dad was able to retire in his late 50s on a good pension, and my mum at 60.

      These videos are filmed early in the morning, no-one is up, so the villages often look deserted and empty. I am sure it is still a productive farm. But they would no longer need the services of a blacksmith, eg. How do you know there is no bus service? And I'm sure there is still a high school in B-on the W. Despite what the other poster says, 1969 is a long time ago now, over 50 years. So much has happened since then.

    I just can't get over, the stone and brick houses, the ingenuity and the time it must have taken to build each one. It's so rare to see such in the United States. I'm wondering, why they didn't use wood. Maybe the trees weren't big enough. I live in Alaska, and after moving here, I was surprised at how small the trees were. Then I learned, they use to ship lumber from the lower 48 to build the homes, and most people bought there property and lived on it while building there home. Anyway, I truly love these quaint stone and brick houses.

    • @clairenoon4070
      @clairenoon4070 7 месяцев назад +2

      Why use wood when stone was everywhere? Especially when stone was more solid for a colder climate and more durable.
      I grew up in a village that has many sandstone-built houses and cottages, as the area sits on a seam of sandstone and the quarry (still being worked up to the early 1900s) was in the village.
