I’m a widow and learning everything about how to maintain and fix my outdoor equipment. Your video was extremely helpful. After putting on new spindles and blades I took apart the rear adjustment arms (they had craftsman 20 mm sockets on them along with rusted bearings). I also rebuilt the carburetor on the Husquivarna YTH 24V48. The springs were not fun on this one. After looking at a parts diagram I quickly determined the idiot at the repair shop had no idea what he was doing. Now I own two extra craftsman sockets he had on the rear adjustment arms trying to level the mower and I have a level mower. Thanks again for such a clear, descriptive video and thanks for letting me know what tools I needed in advance.
Thanks for a great detailed video. I decided to go for 3 1/8" in the front and 3 5/8" in the rear of my 46" deck. That should be the maximum height to go as it comes real close to my belt rubbing but, time will tell. I should be barely safe with the belt. My front was at about 2 3/4" to start and the rear was 3 1/2" to start, so, adjustment was in order. Been that way since new and I have 72 hours on it. Great tractor for sure! BTW, I run LEADED 'NON corn alcohol' fuel that I get from a gas station near me. I run it in all my small engines as it's a safe alternative and it stores much longer without gumming up as with Unleaded corn alcohol fuel, and my hoses will be just fine. ALSO for those who don't know, the triple bagger for the 48" decks will fit the 46" DECK mowers. Usually the 46" decks are two baggers. I found out by mistake when I bought the triple bagger and it fit great. When I went to look for a new rubber part for the chute, the triple baggers said for 48" decks and double bagger for 46" decks. Boy was I happy to learn my mistake was a perfect fit! The more bags the better and the longer you get to mow in between dumping's.
Thank you Jim! You are an incredible help! I have never known how to do this and I've had my Husq for over a decade! a few weeks back a bashed into the metal dog stake in the yard, felt like I drive into a concrete wall! I've been scraping dirt and cutting crappy ever since until I googled at found your a$$-kicking video! Thank you brother!!
First you helped me with my pellet stove, now with the mower deck. I’m looking forward to see what you can help me with next. Thanks again Jim. Love your channel!
@@DIYJIM I’m not very mechanical in the areas of riding mowers. I was having this exact problem today while cutting my grass. I noticed that the deck was not even. I came in the house and looked on RUclips and I found you on my first search. And I watched your video and went back outside and I did exactly like you instructed and it worked.
To make the job a little easier, cut 3 or 4 blocks of wood at the right size you need and mark the sizes. That way your not fighting with a tape measure. Thanks for the video.
@Jeff Haddan I though about that as long as the mower itself is level. I was just going by the manual. Not everyone has a level. Thanks for commenting and watching
Thanks for making this video. I tried the steps in the video on my Craftsman 46 (Husqvarna) and saw a great improvement! No more stairstep cuts. Thanks again!

Thank you! Your video was super helpful and easy-to-follow. I'm generally not too good with repairing things, but you made it simple. Our lawn should look much better after this adjustment!
Thanks for the video. I have felt like mine was off ever since I bought it new last summer, It seems to cut much lower than my previous mower even at the highest level
Hi, yes it worked great,my mower was way off,it actually took me a couple hours ,taking breaks, didn't have the 3/4 " deep socket, but took my time and got it right, thanks again, have a good one!!!
thanks! I gave you a thumb-up. I found mine was right at 2-1/2" at the front. I wanted to raise it a 1/2" any-way, cause it cuts too short. thanks again! PS, mine is a 2013 22V46.
Another great video of yours that has helped me. Not sure if I missed you saying it but, it’s probably worth noting that you had your deck raised to the highest setting before you started adjusting everything. Keep up the great work!
Great video, thank you very much! In the video, I noticed that your deck height selector was at it's "max deck height" position (number 6), when you were showing us how to do the adjustments. My question is, "Is 3.5 inches in height for the rear of the deck at max height, listed by Husqvarna's factory service manual as the correct height for that setting? Thanks for any reply, and thanks again for the lesson. 👍
Not everyone has a four foot level. The basic process is the same for all makes - put your tractor on a level surface, measure the height of the deck rim first on both sides and adjust using the rods... then measure in front and in back and check which hole the front support arm should be in to give a slight rise in front.
Last week my Husky started self destructing as I was mowing. A major weld broke from the bracket holding the deck. When it was welded they missed the seam completely and the weld was also cold. Sure wish I had bought another MTD!! Husky sucks! This is also a replacement mower. The first one had the transaxle replaced three times!
I have damage to the wiring harness due to a mouse or something. Will have to buy the entire harness? Two wires ( gray and black) are chewed in two on the harness and on the other side.
@@DIYJIM I actually adjusted it and everything worked out great. I even tested it... and then when I go to start it again, it won't start. 🤦 I called the place where I bought it. I troubled shooted a bunch of things. And if my neighbor can't help me, then I will have to let them come pick it up And fix it.
@@DIYJIM My neighbor checked it out with me. He's much better with mechanical stuff. We're hoping it's the gasoline solenoid. I ordered it yesterday. It will be here tomorrow.
This would work if the deck was what actually cut the grass. If you want to do it much more efficiently and be precise with it, the right tool for the job is available for @ $10 online. 👊
How to set the deck height on a riding mower.. Not levelling. As you pointed out, the front of deck sits lower than the rear if adjusted properly. If it was level front to rear the deck would not be adjusted properly.
According to the manual, when adjusting the level of the Husqvarna deck. You measure from the ground to the blade. Though don't know if there's any difference compared to measuring from the ground to the bottom of the deck frame.
