    Yay!, another a6 planner person! I am on my 5th hobonichi a6 English. Like you, I don’t see a lot of planner people using the a6 for planning, so occasionally I’ll lose hope and look into larger models. Of those large models I’ve purchased a few. I use them for a couple days, then back to my Hobo A6 I go. I like your layout. Thanks for the video!

    I’m glad I found this video. I am currently a die hard Mini HP disc user and was searching for something smaller to carry in my purse. I did use a weeks back in 2019 and I liked it but wasn’t sure if I wanted to return due to cost and not enough room on the week. Hearing you explain your decision making related to the stalogy, I felt you were speaking directly to my heart . I struggled deciding on if I wanted to try one. I know myself and I will not draw out layouts, journal or even add printables. I want the planner ready to go with a monthly overview so I am going to try the A6. I didn’t have to pay for this one since its a bday gift from my daughter. I’m excited to receive it and will be tuning in to your Pwm’s for ideas. TY for helping me take the leap.

    I love A6 size. I understand your thoughts on both. Excited to see your journey with it. The A6 Hobo will be the only one I haven’t tried yet, which is weird because I love the size. I’m just not good with “dated” daily pages. But I’m thinking I may try it in 2020. Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  5 лет назад +1

      I used to get hung up on dated pages (still do in some ways) because I didn’t want to leave too many pages blank. But after being in the Midori MD One Day One Page, I got comfortable with quickly filling up a page with lettering. I think the confidence from that led me to try the hobo. I hope you enjoy it in the future!

    I also switched from a Weeks (Mega) to an A6 Techo. I tried both the English and the Japanese, and I'm going with the Japanese since the smaller grid better suits my tiny handwriting. I switched because I started using my Weeks weekly+notes pages more for daily logs (completed tasks, steps taken, water consumed, expenses, etc.) than for advance planning. Like you, I can use the monthlies for appointments and future planning, and I also do my meal planning there. It just made sense to move to a planner with a daily page if I'm going to be keeping a daily log. I know I don't need something as huge as the Cousin, so the A6 was the obvious one to try. It's working out well so far, and I've moved my Commonplace book into an A6 cafe notebook from Nanami Paper, which has the same grid size and paper as the Hobo A6. I can carry both notebooks in leather covers in the TS Techo Bag that Hobonichi started selling this year. It's so convenient to have my whole planner/notebook system plus stencils, rulers, pens, and tape in one tidy pouch that can go in my handbag, work bag, whatever I'm carrying.

      That really sounds like an awesome setup!! The hobo A6 and cafe note make such a great pair. I’m glad I didn’t force myself to keep using the Weeks just because it was all I knew.

    I abandoned my weeks for a hobo a6. I too wanted more space but not as much as a cousins. I like when u have a messy day I can just turn the page, unlike weeks where i had to look at it for a week. My sundays are pretty quite, so i use that day for weekly planning. Works great. I'm proud of you to leave weeks behind and move to an a6.

    I used to plan in an A6. The last two years though I have been planning in a weeks but few days ago I have started to contemplate that I need to go back to an A6 again! I will stick though with the weeks for this year because first of all it fits better in my bags and second I have this thing with the unfinished notebooks...! I can't cope with them..😅 I need them full and happy!😁 Your videos are food for thought! Leading the way!

      The Weeks is so portable! I love that about it. There’s so many ways to customize a Weeks layout, with the blank right page and the pages in the back. I just didn’t want to think so hard anymore and it was A6 to the rescue😂. I hope you find your Weeks groove again!

    I just ordered the A6 from Jetpens two days ago. I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. Right now I am planning on using it as a journal. However, I have thought of using it as a planner as well. I can see why you are switching. I just ordered a Chic Sparrow weeks cover, and right now the weeks is working for me. So, I will play around with both and see how it goes. I haven't even gotten my weeks cover from Chic Sparrow in the mail yet, and I would hate to switch and not be able to use it. That was a lot of money to spend on a cover. lol Keep us updated and how this switch is working for you!

    Love your new setup! I have not seen anyone using the A6 as a planner and it’s awesome! I use mine as a journal and I love seeing something different. I look forward to seeing where this takes you and I am excited to see your setup and style evolve. It seems so well suited to your current needs. I ordered my first Pemberly leather in Honey in a deluxe A6 to use as a journal cover and I’ll be making a new folder for it. I wanted strings for extras but am not interested in the leather used for the E-class, though that design is amazing and versatile. I hope to see the line expand to other leathers in the future.
    Thanks for sharing and your hand letting is beautiful! 🧡

      Thank you!! I hope it takes me through the rest of the year! I really like using my post-it tabs and I realized too late that they won’t be protected in a pocket plus😬. So I definitely have to do some setup experimentation! I really wish the e class had continuous stitching on the outside. I can’t get over the abrupt gap near the spine. Otherwise, I would have had one already😂. Enjoy your Pemberley!♥️

    • @tattooedcat
      @tattooedcat 5 лет назад

      Sarah Martinez I never noticed that lack of stitching detail on the e-class. I’m not sure if it would bug me or not. I love the Hobonichi cover and COC size, but really don’t like the plastic feel. I’ve been spoiled with the feel and smell of leather. But I love how it protects my tabs. The extra room is definitely important to me even though I love the sleek look of a very trim cover. Sometimes I wonder how I come to any decision when I get busy waffling so much. 🙈

    Just made the switch! I started out with the cousin, which I love but it’s WAY too large to carry everywhere. The Week’s was a similar situation to me because I just could not figure out how to set it up to meet my needs. So I’m now in an A6 with FoxyFox #3 cover & I love it along with my Midori MD A6 notebook if I need more writing space for notes.

    OMG only if I had watched your video before diving in and buying hobo weeks covers, wallets and so on, had it all set up and was so proud of myself until I started using it this year an 20 days later I realized I was cramped and argh started getting messy and all over the place and looking at that messy page for the whole week was getting depressing...I'm a to do list maker a simple thing like make beds needs to be written down as it gives me that satisfaction of achievement for the smallest of the things and the weeks was not doing that, so just 3 days earlier I gave up and dived into a big purchase of a cover and an A6 hobo, now im excited that I can have enough room but only if I had watched this prior to any commitment! Haha

    In 2016 and half of 2017 I used the English a6 as a planner and I LOVED it. It has been my favorite planner to date. I used in a CS a6 tn with a life pistachio notebook. It’s so awesome for planning. And the space left for the day I’d use for on the go journaling. My only problem is that it got heavy so I went with the weeks. I always have my planner with me and I wanted it to be more portable. I still miss it which is why I use it as a journal now. So glad you are loving it thus far 😃

    I'm in the exact same situation as you! While I love the weeks, I just don't utilize the weekly layout as much as I should. I need the weekly overview, but I just don't like how it ends up looking. I need the daily pages. For the time being, I've been writing daily lists in the back note pages of my mega, but something just isn't working right for me. Long story short, I have the Original A6 on it's way (and a Chic Sparrow A6 cover should be delivered today). I think the A6 with dedicated daily pages will be much more functional for me. I plan to supplement it with DIYfish inserts (a tip-in of one of the monthly calendars which has space to write out tasks that don't have a specific due date, as well). I can't wait to try out the new setup. Hope it works well for us both!

Two months in I was not feeling it and felt like it had become a chore and I was a bit spread thin. There it sits on my shelf looking pretty as my A6 Avec does its amazing job. I love that A6 size and it's wonderfully portable. The day per page is awesome and you can always use it for other daily writings or art if it's not your planner. One thing I like to add when using it as a planner is a laminated bookmark with this week on one side and next week on the other. I write with permanent markers, then erase it with a dry erase marker. You can also use stickers or sticky notes on it and add trackers or use it for weekly lists. If you want a clear cover for it, the Midori A6 cover fits perfectly. Jetpens.com has it.

I have another Mega Weeks which I still haven't found a use for. It's just sitting there, unused. Is it crazy I'm already thinking of what to use next year? I thought A6 was going to be too small after using a Cousin last year, but I find I don't feel as bad if there is an empty page in the A6...

      Oh I am already thinking about setups for next year too!😂😂 You’re not alone! Hobonichis are so amazing because of their versatility👍🏼

    im thinking of moving from the weeks to the A6 as well! i had an ECLP before and i felt like it was too much space, but not in the weeks, i dont have enough. i see more people journalling in the A6 more than planning too so im lacking inspo :(

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  5 лет назад

      I totally get it! Moving to the A6 was like I could breathe and relax. I downsized even more since then and went with just a monthly insert. The daily pages were great but I found I wasn’t using them all the time. Just when I decided not to use Hobonichi next year, they’re now teasing a “day-free” option and I’m dying to see what that’s about!

    I love, love, love the size of my Hobo Weeks, but it's just not working. I am a caretaker as well and hubby and I own a business that I'm the admin for and then there's our personal stuff. I have sectioned off the left side in three's and I find myself not jotting down our personal stuff because there's simply not enough room for all three areas. Then my left side is for all of my tasks and things that don't fall into the categories on the left side. I came from an A6 and fell down the Weeks rabbit hole. LOL and I do like it and the size, but my gut kept telling me that I needed bigger. A6 was perfect for sectioning off three areas for Biz, personal and care taking. After seeing this, I may just bite it and return to the A6. Uuuuuugh! LOL Let me just get through March. Right now biz is slow so not much going on, but April is projected to be chaotic so I'll definitely need the space of an A6.

      Aw, Betty, I know how it is to try and make something work! Sounds like you are giving it a good try with the Weeks. I’m sure you will be relieved to get back in the A6! Good luck!

    I just got an A6 Stalogy, with the idea that if I can be okay with the page-a-day format through this year, next year I'll get the A6 Hobonichi. See, my big problem is I hate 'wasting' pages, and in the Techo I *know* that some pages will mostly or completely empty. Hence this test run with the much cheaper Stalogy. No sense blowing 50 bucks on something I can't bring myself to use, right?

      That’s such a great plan!! I’ve gotten used to filling up pages in my A6 Midori MD daily diary so I feel like I’m going to use those same quick methods to use up Hobo pages when needed. Find yourself a way to fill those blank pages that works for you! Even if it’s just a sticker or washi😁. I hope you enjoy your stalogy!

    I tried the weeks but it just was not working for me. I then went to the B6 and I love it. I only need a monthly spread and then daily. I do not really need a weekly spread. I have ordered another for 2020 in English and will continue to use it. Great video!

    I use a half-year Stalogy A6 in front of my Hobonichi A6. It’s much thinner, and super nice to have for notes.

      If you ever find yourself missing a weekly spread, you can draw one easily enough in the A6. I don't know why Hobonichi wouldn't consider doing this format of weekly in their A6. I can see why using the identical spread from the A5 can be problematic, but a Weeks/A5 hybrid could be great for their A6 planner. I experimented witht three versions I did in a Stalogy A6 here. instagram.com/p/BjYLf9tAbh8/?

      I understand! I think the back pages in the Weeks are popular for more extensive planning. I always had a bit of trouble with figuring out a layout, especially with the blank right page. With the hobo A6 it seems more straight forward and I don’t have to think so hard😂
