I went into one of the Pickton farm buildings in Port Coquitlam as a child in the 1990s with a group of other adventurous kids. We were curious about the derelict buildings & their contents & dared each other to enter. We had no idea that people were being murdered on the property & didn't see anything evil, but we did see Mr Pickton come at us with a shotgun yelling at us to get off his land. It was the first time any of us had ever seen a real gun & we ran for our lives terrified. We didn't tell our parents, because we knew we were trespassing. It came as a shock as an adult when I learned how close we'd actually come to seeing Death in those buildings. Rest in Peace to the victims who never made it back home from the farm.
I went to high school here. Walk daily through the land. Always gave me bad vibes even though its been redeveloped. I knew the history. My aunt worked/ partied on the farm. Thank goodness she was a local
Robert Pickton, also known as "The Pig Farmer," is one of Canada's most notorious and evil serial killers. Between 1983 and 2002, Pickton lured at least 49 women to his farm in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, where he brutally murdered them and disposed of their remains by feeding them to his pigs.
I met Pickton, my Opa used to buy animals at the livestock auction near Aldergrove and Pickton was usually down there. Picton would buy the sickly animals no one else wanted, cows that were too sick to walk onto the block on their own. My Opa was talking to him to buy some pork off him, so Opa introduced me to him as Mr Picton, I shook his hand and he said "call me Willie". He was really greasy, with longish lank hair hanging down the sides of his head. He was unwashed and weird looking I remember. I was around 8 or 10 years old at the time.
@hollylappalainen2000 he just seemed a little strange. He wasn't scary but mildly distasteful due to his unwashed state. People would comment on the sickly animals he would buy. Robert Pickton had a difficult childhood, characterized by neglect and abuse. His father, Leonard Pickton, was an alcoholic and physically abusive towards Robert and his siblings. He was also known to be emotionally distant and indifferent towards his children. Robert's mother, Louise Pickton, was described as controlling and manipulative, often favoring her other children over him. She was also known to be emotionally abusive towards Robert, criticizing and belittling him constantly. Overall, Robert's parents created a toxic and dysfunctional family environment that undoubtedly contributed to his later violent behavior.

As a Port Coquitlam native, there isn’t a soul here who doesn’t know about the grim legend of Pickton. It’s awesome to see coverage of something so close to home.
What is not emphasized in this account is that the majority of his victims were indigenous women, which is a deeper sociological issue, but worth mentioning in this context. A society that disadvantages and disempowers minority groups ends up with serious social and economic costs to society. Ruined lives and horrific acts of inhuman barbarism. A killer like this can only exist in a society that enables it. That level of carnage starts to look more like complicity. It’s a very dark commentary that this was allowed to go as long as it did.
The parties in the Piggy Palace had not just the top bosses of the Hell's Angels, but also the top brass of the RCMP. That side of the investigation is under seal.
I've been down to Hastings Street in Vancouver. It's a very sad sight, the sidewalk is lined with human feces and needles and hundreds of homeless people live there, I grew up in Ontario but my mom was from Vancouver, she had told me stories about all the women who were killed down there and nobody really cared until it was too late, many of those prostitutes were indigenous woman
I hate stories like this bc it so tragic from beginning to end. This wasn't a well off boy who was treated like a prince and grew up born into a stable healthy home and love. His life started so dark and grim and it just continued. There's no way that i will ever defend the actions of individuals such as this, but I can't help but feel a sense of empathy for the children they once were.
Ya tell me about it, I live on Prairie Ave near Oxford and drive by there all the time. I've noticed cows grazing in there sometimes, but it gives me the creeps every I look in there. Just has an aura. Ironically I grew up in East Van while it was all going down, I remember everyone on the street knew a killer was at work, and the police just ignored the calls to investigate for years.
I do too. It creeped me out even as a kid, when I didn’t know what happened there yet. It has such an off vibe to it. I also notice cows grazing there sometimes
It's crazy how incompetent the police were through all this. Maybe they were scared of that 70 million Farm. Knowing he could get a good lawyer. But still you gotta make that arrest!!! Like come on!!!!
I live 5 minutes away from this farm, i was so scared when I was six and this investigation started, god bless everyone I hope they have a good rest of their day
My former neighbor used to know the guy the who owned the farm, he told me the victims were people who ran afoul of organized crime (didn't pay their loans or protection money etc) in the area.
By the way, he lived in Port Coquitlam on a farm. It’s not Vancouver. It’s farmland outside of lower mainland Vancouver and it’s not Coquitlam. It’s Port Coquitlam. There is a big difference. And I never even go near that place. I will go the long way around if I have to go north, which I. Never do really anyway.
Why is it that when Americans do these videos, they often refer to them as "the Canadian Police" and not, ya know, Vancouver Police, or whatever police force they actually are? Would you refer to the NYPD as "the American Police" for example? Why do you do that?
Is anyone going to talk about how basically killing the cow is like going into a snake owner's room skinning their pet python alive and making boots out of it
My father (RIP) owned two restaurants in the early 1990's, The Little Spot and Donald's across the street. Pickton was a regular breakfast customer, I remember him vividly. How little we knew back then...
@paraphenaliac4657 He didn't really stand out to me so unfortunately I can't expand on that. He wasn't loud or too boasty like some of his other look alikes of the area, mostly quiet.
It's really scary how the murderer is not caught immediately and when caught, the punishment is light, just clean the toilet and then released immediately, I don't know if the justice is fair?
As a BC resident, this isnt even the worst. The worst, is that theres a whole stratch of road called the highway of tears, where literally unknown counts of native women have vanished and the cops do. Literally. Nothing.
If you like covering killers can you do Elizabeth borden from fall river? We even got a nursey rhyme for her, "lizzie borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks, when her father seen what she has done, she gave her father 41" she always claimed she never did it but was sentanced to death penalty for it in the earlyish 1900s
Richmond BC native, here. I worked with a couple of people years ago who lived fairly close to him in Poco and used to go to parties on his farm. They both said he would have a big pig roast and everyone would chow down.
How were the parties? Did they feel sketchy, dangerous? was there violence, or were they the loved-up kind of raves? This story fascinates me. It's hard to understand, though, in that it's hard to believe he got away with it for so long. Did you ever see Willy at the parties?
My girlfriends aunt stays next to the farm or the land rather and she told me a couple neighbors that don’t believe in God, got a priest to pray for their houses lol
he seems to have had a disorder, it seemed noticeable since childhood. The interrogation and other interactions kind of confirm this that it wasn't more of the farm and it's issues that caused him to think certain things but a disorder that made it way worse
There was a "Sopranos" episode when a guy got "whacked" and ground up in a pork store. The perps agreed that they would not patronize the place again for a few months.
Theres another story on how the cops did a raid and another part that blew the case wide open was one of the cops was a hunter and noticed a carcass in the barn had yellow fat on it.. Pigs have white fat.
The story about the calf reminds me of my own childhood... I had family living on a farm - we always visited them in Summer. On one such Summer (think I was about 5) I befriended a duck. It was really cute, running around after me everywhere. Next year we came my feathered friend wasn't there anymore. My aunt tried lying to me but eventually I found out that the duck had gotten too fat and was suffering so they had to put it down. Now, if the story ended here, it would have been fine. Just a sad memmory but understandable nontheless (whether or not the duck really had to be put out of its suffering really isn't that important - all that mattered was that the child-me belived it). That is until my father figured that it was hillarious. Not only did he tell me that my friend was killed to be eaten. Oh no - what he did above that was telling me each time we had duck for dinner that it was my friend we were eating. I knew that it wasn't true ofc, but it hurt nontheless. My grandfather caught up to the joke as well. And both my father and grandfather loved duck, so we had it pretty often. I was not allowed not to participate in the meal and thus was forced to suffer - while my father and grandfather howled in laughter as I cried my heart out. And people wonder why I don't see anything wrong with Asians eating dogs and cats 🤷🏼♀️ You see - this trauma taught me that it didn't matter what the meat was before it came to my plate - as long as it wasn't a creature I loved.
Hells Angels and RCMP go wayyyyy back. I don't doubt that the 20 years or so of un-investigation stems from that dysfunctional relationship. Also the public's and police's view of these working women is abysmal. We are still dealing with families themselves searching city dumps for missing female relatives in one of our prairie provinces. Working women in East end of Vancouver and elsewhere in Canada are still treated with disbelief, and considered throwaways.
@infographics you going to have to do an updated on his death. He got an eye for an eye. A broken broom through the head in comparison to the women he killed.
The attitude of the police at this time wasn’t too unusual - look at the situation in Tacoma, around the Ash street shootout in 1989 for an example; or the Green River Killer - growing up in Eastern Washington in the 80s, I sure remember hearing about those horrible crimes.
I grew up in Vancouver area and live like 15 mins from that farm. He always had parties over there. People think the Hells Angel's had involvement over there. Went to the prison he was being held in and saw him on the monitor one time lol.

for me the most crazy thing about this story is how his mother unknowing killed a child that lead to him be coming a serial killer
To all new people seeing the video HES DEAD. may 31 2024

He was stabbed in both eyes with a sharpened toothbrush then had a broken wooden shaft jammed up his nose into his brain by another inmate.

yall he died TODAY. march 31, 2024

Nahhh💀💀💀
When I found out now about that I was shocked. Not only did he die that day, but that day was also the last day of school for me
JUST NOW????

What is not emphasized in this account is that the majority of his victims were indigenous women, which is a deeper sociological issue, but worth mentioning in this context. A society that disadvantages and disempowers minority groups ends up with serious social and economic costs to society. Ruined lives and horrific acts of inhuman barbarism. A killer like this can only exist in a society that enables it. That level of carnage starts to look more like complicity. It’s a very dark commentary that this was allowed to go as long as it did.
YES! I was waiting for that to be mentioned but never was! Their story deserves to be told 🧡🧡
I just got near the end and they do mention the race 25:51
Yeah, sadly accurate.
unfortunately, missing Aboriginal women being missing is a big problem indeed in Canada
That sounds more like your own emphasis........ Maybe cut this Trudeauism from your thinking.
I just love how he sounds so surprised that they “never reached the third base” despite being engaged.
The worst part about the serial killer is He's not sorry, and he should be sorry.
Fear Allah
I hate stories like this bc it so tragic from beginning to end. This wasn't a well off boy who was treated like a prince and grew up born into a stable healthy home and love. His life started so dark and grim and it just continued. There's no way that i will ever defend the actions of individuals such as this, but I can't help but feel a sense of empathy for the children they once were.
Same here!! Show's the damage that abuse can do!!
I live about 10 minutes from the farm. Most of the property has been sold but the main driveway is still there. Very creepy
So basically this guy was basically the Real Life Batman Villan, Professor Pyg
So happy y’all started doing this series again, only thing keeping me going back in the days
It's crazy how incompetent the police were through all this. Maybe they were scared of that 70 million Farm. Knowing he could get a good lawyer. But still you gotta make that arrest!!! Like come on!!!!
Robert died on 30th may 2024 so he never got out of prison
Prison justice.
I live 5 minutes away from this farm, i was so scared when I was six and this investigation started, god bless everyone I hope they have a good rest of their day
I lived in a city near the farm. I remember when people I knew would go to some of the parties there. I'm glad that was not my scene.
Update. Picton died two days ago.
Dog not allowed ect
That's because the NYPD are scary about their branding.
I don't know bro
To Americans, Canada is just another foreign nation, so they don't bother to distinguish anything in it.
They might be referring to the rcmp
@@DuckIsBored-e6i I'll make sure to call the FBI, NSA, and DHS the American Police from now on then. 😆
Who is here after the serial killer died? What a story!!!
Me!! So crazy!!

Did he smell bad?
@nicholaseachus5937 I didn't notice, at breakfast the whole place smelled like coffee and bacon..
What was he like?
@paraphenaliac4657 He didn't really stand out to me so unfortunately I can't expand on that. He wasn't loud or too boasty like some of his other look alikes of the area, mostly quiet.

News update. He was just stabbed in prison with a broken broom handle
It's really scary how the murderer is not caught immediately and when caught, the punishment is light, just clean the toilet and then released immediately, I don't know if the justice is fair?

23:40 the fact a rookie was better than professionals is astonishing
Is it? Corruption tends to be more prominent among those who've been doing their job (criminal investigation, government) for a long time.
To be clear, I'm implying that the veteran officers didn't investigate the Pigsty because they didn't want to.
@@alexhhh9116 that's quite true since the victims were the lesser dead

Well SURE! Because he was clearly such an interior decorator!
I heard he died like few days or weeks ago because they beat him up which caused him to die.
As a BC resident, this isnt even the worst. The worst, is that theres a whole stratch of road called the highway of tears, where literally unknown counts of native women have vanished and the cops do. Literally. Nothing.
there is a real life update to this story - Pickton was just stabbed in the neck by a broom stick shiv by his cell mate, and he is now dead
I live in Port Coquitlam. One of our darkest history moments for sure
He probably cleaned the whole house before he left

If you like covering killers can you do Elizabeth borden from fall river? We even got a nursey rhyme for her, "lizzie borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks, when her father seen what she has done, she gave her father 41" she always claimed she never did it but was sentanced to death penalty for it in the earlyish 1900s
How often is bad parenting a factor in the making of a monster like this!
Almost always. Alot has to come together, it wouldnt happen otherwise.
I grew up in the vancouver area and my grandma was so paranoid about me going outside because of this
Judging by how loving he was with that calf, he wasn't evil with antisocial personality disorder. He was taught to be evil by other people
Just stop.
I’ve been waiting for this to be covered! So excited to watch it!
Not surprising that a new police officer broke the case that many experienced vets and investigators failed to uncover.

You just gave me an idea for my next presentation, thank you; And rest in peace to all the people who died god speed.
My girlfriends aunt stays next to the farm or the land rather and she told me a couple neighbors that don’t believe in God, got a priest to pray for their houses lol
That's why they got a *priest* to pray...they don't believe on GOD.
Pig farmers are everywhere. Not just in Canada.
I feel bad for the victims but also for the killer after hearing the back story 😢

he seems to have had a disorder, it seemed noticeable since childhood. The interrogation and other interactions kind of confirm this that it wasn't more of the farm and it's issues that caused him to think certain things but a disorder that made it way worse
I found out that he died recently. Like 3 later
Well, he is not going to get that parole now.

This is sad and scary at the same time its like my worst nightmare 😭
In Denmark we have a film called the green butchers (de gørnne slagtere )with Mads Mikkelsen it's about much the same thing, just without the politics
There was a "Sopranos" episode when a guy got "whacked" and ground up in a pork store. The perps agreed that they would not patronize the place again for a few months.
It is terrifying that he is still alive!
This aged well LOL
Theres another story on how the cops did a raid and another part that blew the case wide open was one of the cops was a hunter and noticed a carcass in the barn had yellow fat on it.. Pigs have white fat.
there is a high chance we all ate pork that wasn't pork at one time.
his parents were directly responsible for the murders
Can you not say that Asians eat dogs and cats please-a Asian
Rip Mr Duck 😢
You guys REALLY didn't need to put a baby crying in the audio for so long... done with the video in a minute
Working women in East end of Vancouver and elsewhere in Canada are still treated with disbelief, and considered throwaways.
its tooexpensive to search the landfill for two women who may not be there. if natives want it searched they should pay for it not taxpayers.
and the fact half these victims were native for the small population of us. scary af. i think that made a difference in this case

The attitude of the police at this time wasn’t too unusual - look at the situation in Tacoma, around the Ash street shootout in 1989 for an example; or the Green River Killer - growing up in Eastern Washington in the 80s, I sure remember hearing about those horrible crimes.
They should make a movie about this horrific case
