My favorite Eminem song of all time here. Recovery's alternate album cover captures this album perfectly. You either get Recovery and love it respectfully or you are too caught up on Slim Shady and think the later stuff doesn't hit the same. I haven't come across a grey area there

I ran cross country in high school and this album came out going into my senior year. Put in 500 miles that summer to it. This song was one of my favorites for sure
Em go to the booth and rap all his feelings out but that’s the reason why Eminem Stan different from any other rappers fan because Em make his stan not only care about his music but his life too and his family and you can feel the pain in his voice like you part of it.

For those who don't know, that last line on DJ AM was a shoutout to a DJ who was had sobered up, but then almost died in a plane crash with Travis Barker and ended up getting hooked on the meds they gave him and died of an overdose a year later. Eminem almost died a few years prior to that with an overdose in 2007

As a white boy who grew up in the hood I've been listening to rap since like 1985 lol. Em has always been one of my favorites bc he's from Missouri like me and we both grew up similar so I can really feel what he's talking about sometimes. I'm definitely not just an em fan bc I love a lot of other rappers too. It's always really cool to see other people who love rap that can appreciate someone I like listening too as well. Keep doing y'all's thang 💪

If not, it's because "Revival" was like Recovery part 2, atleast a similar formula, and it it went terribly with critics. I personally think it was just the state of hip hop being so different from 2010 (Recovery)

It's because people put him in a box and only want crazy slim shady shit but for me I like it more when he talks about real shit. It's my two favorite tracks on MMLP are stan and the way I am. He's just being real and not doing the whole cartoony serial killer nonsense.
Probably is, after "Revival" which was like Recovery 2.0, it caught so much hate that he chose to put his spin on modern hip-hop, yet he gets no radio play in that market at all...
Then again, maybe he doesn't pay for marketing campaigns at this point, but I'm sure his singles were getting played strictly from popularity at one point on Pop stations when they had Pop hooks.
I think his last big radio singles were from "Revival" (walk on water, River, etc)
Yea this whole album is insane. Not his absolute best album (his first 3 are certified classics), but definitely top 5 imo and a very important one for Eminem. The best song on it that you don't know is Going Through Changes. It's one of the deepest, most beautiful songs Em has ever done.
Other bangers from the album are 25 to Life, Space Bound, So Bad and Seduction
Love Going Through Changes. I feel like it really built on his message in Deja Vu. Those two and then Arose really give a glimpse into how he was feeling after Proof’s death

Y’all gotta react to Eminem’s greatest album of all time, the Marshall Mathers LP… was named one of the five greatest hip hop albums of all time. Prime Slim Shady, untouchable Eminem. Every song on that album is GOATED, insane lyricism and imagery. I highly recommend “Who Knew” off the album, he going at his critics’ necks in that song. He talking about how he never thought he’d get near the level of fame he at now
My favorite song on the album 22 years and still bump that song often.
