Christmas comes to Singapore early every year, with festivities getting into full swing from mid November. You’ll get to soak in the holiday mood early, with the official light-up ceremony happening on 16 November, transforming the buzzing lifestyle precinct of Orchard Road into a wonderland of light, sound and colour.
While everyone loves getting Christmas presents, there are gifts that money can’t buy, like love, peace and joy. This year’s light-up celebrates these heartfelt emotions with the theme ‘The Greatest Gift’.
The lights and decorations stretch 3.88 kilometres from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura (including Scotts Road, Grange Road and Orchard Link) and will stay up until 1 January 2020, giving you ample opportunity to soak in the sensory feast.

Christmas isn’t complete without good company-You’ll be able to bask in the communal vibes and festive cheer at the Christmas Village, happening from 23 November to 26 December at Shaw House Urban Plaza, *SCAPE and Grange Road Car Park.
Visitors can look forward to a whole range of street food, fun and festivities at this year’s event. The young and the young at heart should keep an eye out for Mini TOYBOX by Hasbro, which features activities like a makeover and an obstacle course, themed around nostalgic brands like My Little Pony and NERF.
You can expect the festivities to spill out to the neighbouring streets from 16 to 23 December, with engrossing multimedia performances, Christmas carolling and interactive activities happening along the pedestrian walkway from ION Orchard to Wisma Atria.

The festivities reach a crescendo on Christmas Eve, with the Christmas Countdown Party at Orchard Road. Now in its second year, this evening of festivities will feature live performances from local bands and dance groups.

An all-year round retail paradise for discerning shoppers, Orchard Road’s multitude of offerings get even more rewarding during the Christmas season. Shoppers looking to indulge in luxury brands can pop by Paragon, while youths and the young at heart should visit Cineleisure Orchard or 313@Somerset for their range of street wear and fashion-forward apparel.
Be awed by the striking modern architecture of ION Orchard, which houses a treasure-trove of global labels and fashion boutiques. To shop for local souvenirs, take a stroll around Design Orchard, a lifestyle and retail nexus stocking a range of wares that are proudly made in Singapore.
During the festive season, great deals and special buys abound at Orchard Road. Mastercard brings cheer to festive shoppers with exclusive rewards-cardholders charging a minimum of S$300 or S$500 to their credit or debit cards at any participating malls will be able to redeem S$30 or S$50 shopping vouchers.

I went to Singapore and staying 5 nights in Orchid road 25 years ago .Not much changes . The only changes are the night views are very beautiful .

Orchard Road may be the same but the decor this year is nice. Those who don’t like it give me a break it’s only once a year . Just look at the children they’re enjoying themselves and the tourists too, they are the one who bring revenue to Singapore . ie airport tax , hotel and transportation and many other expenses.
