In the PA-44 POH it says that the "two position gear selector" just turns on the pump and the pump itself is reversable to bring the gear up or down. The gear handle doesn't control the position of the shuttle or check valves. Quote from the Rev1 2016 edition of the POH, "When hydraulic pressure is exerted in one direction the gear is retracted, when exerted in the other direction the gear is extended."

Hey mate, squat switches don't contact on the ground. They contact as weight comes off the landing gear and the strut then expands.
So is the hydro pump reversible to put pressure on either side of the shuttle valve?
