      @@JohnSmith-nx7zj true enough. Sometimes I wonder if a big value bet will get called because it looks bluffy. Like, if hero had AK here, and jammed, would she call with 66, or lay it down? If she's just never folding anything, then it seems like we can be unbalanced in our actions here. It sucks to be hero with AA here, but even QQ can't really jam, the way this was played.

    On the turn the hero mentions betting to get protection from KQ and KK. Maybe this is a pet peeve, but you're getting value from those hands you're not getting protection. She's never folding those hands. Maybe it's semantics but it is important to think about what you're really trying to accomplish. If you knew she had those hands then you'd bet for sure but when you consider you're sometimes beat and sometimes up against pair plus draws that aren't folding and have good equity betting becomes less good.

    I was not crazy about hero's sizing at any point, but I agreed with his basic line. I did not love Nate's idea of jamming river at all. I do find some hands that call, like KK or AQ. On the other hand, I think the idea that stronger is always raising turn to be flawed. I'd agree that AK would likely jam turn, but does QQ or JJ or TT? I obviously never saw 66 coming, but it's not a huge surprise given hero's 4 bet sizing pre.

    • @1vailchris
      @1vailchris 8 месяцев назад

      Hero should have gone much larger with his 4B pre. I'm fine down-betting flop, but when she calls, I think we need to check back on turn and evaluate on river. AA is just a bluff catcher on this run out.

    • @1vailchris
      @1vailchris 8 месяцев назад

      I don't think anything other than AK jams turn. If that's true, then jamming AK would seem really unbalanced, if we wouldn't jam any of our sets. That said, I wonder if it's okay to be unbalanced in some situations, like this one.

    A lot of people saying Jamming on the river is terrible. Is it though? You can see hero's cards villain can't. If you had a set of 6s on this board and hero jammed how comfortable would you feel making that call? Virtually any other set beats you, there are 48 combos of straights that beat you not to mention that the way the hand played out seems exactly like AK. There are only 12 combos of AA, KK but 16 combos of Ak, 3 combos of QQs and 3 combos of 10s. I wouldn't make that Jam but it's only BECAUSE villains at these stakes lack the discipline to make snug folds.

  • @1vailchris
    @1vailchris 8 месяцев назад +2

    Hero's 2.5x size on his 4B pre only seems good if he's trying to induce a spaz 5B jam, which almost never happens, unless V has KK/AKs. With the SPR, I'd think we'd want to go bigger with the 4B size, more than 3x, because of the dead money from the blinds and the +1 open. Doubtful she'd be calling with 66 if he went >3x with his 4B.
    Surprising she didn't donk-lead or x/r flop with her set. I'd think hero should just bet bigger on flop, then check back on turn, and fold river. What is he beating here if V bets river after the turn goes check-check. V has all the straights, sets, and 2P combos in her range. Hero really only has Broadway and top set.

    Even considering "value" on the river is complete insanity. After V calls turn you have to be aware you are beat at least 75% of the time. The only hands that should be calling that you beat are KK and KQ because they are open ended, and only a madman would call with those on the river.
    The turn bet is good imo, because it allows you to see where you are at and most likely buys you a free showdown on the river.
    The only merit to betting river would be a bluff to fold QJ or sets. But at low stakes it is a risky play that is probably not worth it. But I'm pretty sure 66 should be folding to a jam on this board.

    • @1vailchris
      @1vailchris 8 месяцев назад +2

      I don't know if she's folding 66 after calling flop and turn. With two flush draws on board, he might have bet bigger with a turned straight, or checked back with a bigger set. As played, his hand looks like AA/KK.

    "How to make sure you lose with Aces"
    At least he stopped value owning himself on the river. His bet sizes are barely bigger than the standard 80 year old lady min click obvious aces play. Everything about this was just bad. He even talked about her "4 bet calling range preflop" being "10's through kings". Dude, her range is almost infinite because you min clicked it. She has all the sets, two pair, straights, combo draws, pair plus straight draw, flush draws, etc. There was no point in this hand where you could tell where you were at by her calling when you gave her odds to call with literally any two cards. Even if you're "extracting value from worse" she's getting 4-1 on every street. She has odds to call with practically everything except an underpair which makes your bet sizing a mistake on every street. This hand should have been over preflop.
